      Iv always known about the bee dance as a way of communicating but never considered what is actually required of the
      bee/s. Who first taught the bees to communicate in this way? How did the first bees learn to communicate in order to cooperate if they had no form of communication to begin with. How does a bee live long enough to: educate itself, learn to be attentive, develop a memory, make good decisions and all straight from the “crib”!? Otherwise the females could just ignore each other to death.
      The only plausible explanation is they were given or “programmed” with all the necessary abilities from the very beginning. Thanks to God for the bees.

    When I was a child we stayed at a vacation home of a friend of my father's that had a HUGE beehive on the outside of the large picture window in the livingroom. It had been there for years and was about 5 feet high and 2,5 to 3 feet across. My mother kept trying to get me to go outside and play with my brothers, but that hive was fascinating! I loved watching the Queen move around (once I found her) and from books there learned most of my life's knowledge about bees from watching & reading while there. I begged for a beehive but as 1 of my brothers is allergic to bees, it was a fast No!Our local conservation center has a glass hive that the bees enter and exit through a plastic pipe. I would bring my children there when younger but I enjoyed them more than they did. They are fascinating to me. Never wish to be a baby bee with a cold or allergy, your aunts will kill you instead of cuddles and chicken soup! lol

    I loved this video! I've been searching for something more like a university lecture about honey bees but most of the stuff on RUclips about bees are like kids clips. Thank you!

    Absolutely wonderful, thank you for creating and posting. I've noticed more condensation within our hives and I was worried. This put my mind at ease. Thank you!!

      Glad to help :) the most problematic condensation would happen on the top where it has the opportunity to drip down on bees that are clustered in place. Keeping the condensation down low, or on the sides isn't so much of a threat.

      Thank you, Sir! You're dead-on regarding the weather change and the moisture issue. We lost some bees due to the flow hive leaking during a harvest, same issue, I believe, you experienced. With a lower population, the girls seem to lack the numbers to most closely regulate the hive temp, so I'll probably be down-sizing them slightly until their numbers build up.
      By the way, your hygienic bees are absolutely stunning. It's wonderful to watch them clean and groom and clearly the strain is proving successful.
      Thanks again for the wonderful videos.

    Wonderful stuff. Very Educational. My father in law has been keeping bees for 40 years now. I have the pleasure to work for in in the summers. I hope everyone can understand how interesting and absolutely great bees are to our environment.

    It’s spring where I am, and my tree is humbling so loud. Every year the bees come to feast on my tree. How far will bees go to find pollen?

    • @FrederickDunn
      @FrederickDunn  4 года назад +1

      If they can't find pollen in the immediate vicinity, they can forage for miles in every direction. 2-3 miles tends to be the limit though there have been instances of more distant travel. If the bees have to travel miles for resources, I'd consider relocating the apiary.

      Frederick Dunn I don’t have an apiary just millions of bees. And I have never been able to find the beehive. I live in the suburbs so I can really keep one.

    Great view! I have reduced the amount of condensation on the glass of my observation hive by covering it with insulation panel when I am not "watching" in the winter.. (mainly so I can see better )

    • @FrederickDunn
      @FrederickDunn  7 лет назад +1

      I have 2.5" rigid insulation on the front and back now. The condensation was from the cold entry air. Thanks for commenting! :) I hope your bees do great!
