This video is more educational than a semester long producing course in film school.

This is all great, but when streaming services are paying 0.003 per view it makes it bloody hard to make any money, and if your splitting that with a rep and a distributor, well do the math. I've used aggregates and for an independent its a lot better but you still shake your head when you see what you get per view. You can do ok with PPV sites but the streaming with ads sites really take a huge bite.

Always make sure the person you align yourself with always has your best interests at heart. That's exactly right. Because if you don't, before you know it your work will just become a tool of THERE'S to try and make money with.

this is fantastic film courage -- the busy end and distribution of films is always the Achilles heel of filmmakers, and posting things like this are incredibly important. If you want to get into the deep end, you have to pass through the gate keepers, so not only making a good project becomes important, but getting to a Producer rep becomes almost as important if you intend to make money back on the film. There's a sort of self aggrandizing myth that just taking a film to festivals will get it noticed, but with the morbid increase in films being made, it might be overlooked for the crowded field.

International sales agent= Percentage of distribution, no up front fees.
Domestic sales agent (circus road, etc)=$5000 fee and no guarantees.. Which would you trust?

When it comes to E & O Insurance for a documentary, does my appearance release need to contain language for perpetuity? I am working on a doc where one person is requesting a 20 year limit on the use of their image. Do you think I will have trouble at the E & O Insurance stage?

Never heard of someone requesting a 20 year limit before, very interesting issue! I’m not sure about E&O conflicts, you’ll most likely just have to call up and ask your E&O provider, but if I were back in my film school law class, they’d probably say to cut that person out or see if they could agree to have you do a mosaic and vocal disguise effect on their scene(s) to therefore not include their likeness at all.
