  • Hello! Welcome back to the Limhaus. In this episode, we have Esther, a certified Konmari Consultant in Singapore who helped us quite a bit when we were planning our space and when we first moved in. The KonMari Method encourages tidying by category - not by location. The process of the tidying journey begins with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and lastly, sentimental items.
    Since we moved in last Christmas, it's been a good 5 months and we started to see clutter again in our kitchen. In this episode, we'll share tips for a tidy kitchen through a decluttering and organizing session with Esther. Do watch on and find out more!
    You can also slide into Esther's dm at @yourtidyhalf on Instagram to book a free 30 mins virtual consultation with a certified KonMari consultant !!

    Regarding food packaging, though it looks cleaner and tidier without the big plastic packaging bag, and just store the content in a nicer looking jar/container, I do find it rather fussy whenever I need to recall some details, such as the expiry date, the ingredients, etc. And I don't want the extra step to write down every single expiry date for my food... So my solution is, finish what you buy as soon as possible 😂

    • @estheryourtidyhalf3972
      @estheryourtidyhalf3972 3 года назад +5

      Hey! Yes decanting your products usually gives a cleaner look (: a fast way to retain the expiry date or even you need the nutritional info/ingredients list - just cut them out and put them in the container (: great suggestion to finish what we buy too 🤣

    Marie Kondo is first and foremost a good business woman. her tidying methods come later. she also has the charm and charisma to sell her books and workshops. Most people can't do that even if given the same business model.

    I wonder if it is real necessity to home each equipment especially rice cooker or toaster as you need to use it every day? Will it be too much of hassle to bring out each time you need it. I must agree that it does free up the counter space.

    Upright plates in a drawer means they clang against the rack when drawer is opened or closed. Impractical. Granted that clutter-less kitchen makes it safe and easy to clean but c'mon, a kitchen is not a showpiece for our social media.

    On your ending scene, I saw a fixed dish rack that is just above your sink and would like to ask you more about it! Did you install your dish rack inside your cupboard with no bottom shelve / a removable shelf so that the water can drip down to the sink directly? :) thanks so much!!! Your videos really inspired me on my home reno!

    • @TheLimhausDiary
      @TheLimhausDiary  2 года назад +1

      Hi Janice! Yes correct the dish rack is installed inside the cupboard with no bottom shelving and replaced with a drip tray. We align the disk rack cupboard with the rest of the cupboard so that it looks in sync with the rest. But take note that the higher rack will be more difficult to reach if the person is of a shorter height.

    Can I digress and ask why your aircon don’t need pelmet? TT

    • @TheLimhausDiary
      @TheLimhausDiary  3 года назад

      if i am not wrong, the pelmet purpose is just to aesthetically partially hide the aircon and its trunkings. our aircon trunkings need to navigate around the reinforced ceiling columns and pull to the rest of the rooms through the kitchen. If we did do the pelmet, it will still have to go around reinforced ceiling columns. and also its kinda ugly imo. haha.

    • @TheLimhausDiary
      @TheLimhausDiary  3 года назад

      hmm we might have different definition of the BLUM system. In the catalogue, the TANDEMBOX, which we are using, is defined as a BLUM box system.

      @timothycheng5101 3 года назад

      @@TheLimhausDiary Not here to create any trouble, just to educate the public correctly and do not mislead the information further. Whether is Legrabox or Tandembox it has to be fitted with the recommended materials otherwise it will not work correctly as the load bearing of the drawers will not perform to the integrity of the products. Btw, i'm a interior designer and also a certified blum kitchen specialist. Anyway, other than that. The rest of the video is very education and helpful and easy to understand for most layman. why store away the rice cooker and blender , most human use them everyday, so when they are up on the top that means they will stay there for about 3 hrs including drying up.... and a wasted space below ..... it would be better to get containers of the same size, shape , height for your snacks ..... so when U open the door, it will look naturally neat

    • @grundidee7523
      @grundidee7523 3 года назад +4

      Thats right, but if you want to store it away you have a space reserved just for the rice cooker. I do the Same With my toaster. Its really nice to be able to store it away when you have guests over. I also try to clean my kitchen every evening and I like the clean and tidy look when I‘ve finished. Clutter attracts clutter :)
