For what it’s worth, adding my voice to the chorus of people who won’t support SheGlam/Shein content with my views (although I see the irony as my comment gives this video engagement.). The company ranks among the worst offenders for environmental impact and horrible labour conditions and it’s disappointing to see so many sponsored videos promoting them, especially to a generation that values sustainability. It also feels eerily like the Morphe Code years.

I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now and I really enjoy your channel but I have to say, I don’t love that you’re using SheGlam. There isn’t a lot of information connected to the beauty brand, but there is a wealth of information on the poor labor conditions of SheIn, which is associated with SheGlam. There are multiple comments here echoing the same thing and they’ve left several links to multiple articles that I highly recommend checking out. I first read the Cut article about the exposure of the labor conditions by a UK undercover investigator and that opened my eyes to the many atrocities the company committed. That being said it is your channel, but I’m not sure I’ll be comfortable staying to support if I see consistent promotion of the brand on the channel. I understand they’re viral and you’re getting requests, but I would have so much more respect for someone that acknowledges what’s right even when it’s in direct opposition to the “popular” opinion. Hope to see a change ✌🏻

Most companies have unethical business practices that exploit their workers. My country is a popular destination for many companies, especially those whose products are geared towards the Western markets, who want to exploit our cheap labor, which is why we are still a third-world country in poverty. Instead of just using your device to perform performative activism, which most likely is a product of unethical business practices, do more research, and probably choose to shop locally.

@@xeruwynn8987 I don't think that avoiding a brand in a public way is performative. We have to live in the world and when we know better, we do better. That said, as individual consumers we have limited power ourselves. Only by demanding better conditions en masse can we persuade businesses to change their practices. Most importantly, we need to call upon governments to legislate to protect their own citizenry, and the planet.
To put a comment condemning a brand for their lack of ethics, which can provide a gentle education to people who may have been unaware of that, is one of the few things individuals can do to encourage a boycott of the brand, and thus potentially push that brand to change.

    • @stephmgreen
      @stephmgreen 2 года назад +18

@@carolynhutchin8984 thank you. That was my intention. I don’t fault consumers or creators on an individual level for their personal buying decisions. Those with low income can’t necessarily afford to go out of their way to strictly buy ethically. I only hoped to educate those that may not know and let them know where I stand in hopes they take it under consideration. Consumers can’t effect change independently of one another. And creators can’t effect change independently. However when they make a conscious public decision, that can influence others (their literal job description) to consider those points and do the same. It takes effort on everyone’s part to effect change on every level. So, what? Everyone prefer I shut up because it’s easier to assume I’m somehow a hypocrite and acting superior when I simply brought up the subject in the most innocuous way I possibly could?
I recall when Sam Ravndahl decided to take a stand against companies that sent egregious levels of PR mailers, which just contributed to extreme waste within the industry. By speaking up, she influenced other creators to take a similar approach and eventually, companies started to change the way they handle PR. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Does it trickle down to the other wasteful areas of the industry? No. But gone are the days of sending people entire shade ranges and boxes the size of their entire body. Influencers have the power, but I’m not crucifying them whatsoever for making whichever decisions they choose to make. I’m simply stating I may not continue to support them. I think that’s the best approach instead of bullying them into decision making or unfollowing without trying to educate first.

@@xeruwynn8987 it sounds to me like there’s a lot of misplaced anger going on. You also made multiple assumptions about myself and my life. I’m not sure why. I don’t think that’s a wise take in this modern age and I’m surprised you don’t already know that. So you feel that unless someone lives an entirely 100% ethically responsible lifestyle, they shouldn’t take steps to be more responsible because that would be hypocritical? And if they do try to spread a message or acknowledge some inequality, that it’s performative, because you happened to see them talk about it and therefore that’s all they’ve done to address it?

The Charlotte Tilbury setting powder....GAVE ME A HORRIBLE ALLERGY. And it spread over the neck and upper chest as well as my hands and wrists. Everywhere where the powder traveled through the air while setting my makeup.
Big big big bumps, so itching. I had to go to ER and received 4 dosis of different cortisone shots as it didn't calm down. Then I was asked to wash every single thing that had contact with the powder , so every brush, the sponge etc. And after that use a little brush (eyeshadow one) and make 3 stripes of the powder on my left arm. And....back to ER I went. So I will contact CT to get all the components of the powder and see what it's hiding on the formula as they told me there's something more that is not on the components list in the box. Let's see.... I don't think they will provide me the list. But I wanted you all to know about what happened to me just in case you are feeling some itching or bumps ... don't think anymore....is the powder. I'm heartbroken because I loved it, how it settled my makeup and specially undereyes and T-zone setting. But...not going to risk so I had to through it away with great sadness in my heart.

Sheglam have good affordable products and that’s all I care about.

this is honestly just a roundabout way of saying you don't care about the environment. You could've just stopped it at "I like sheglam" but you had to get abrasive about people calling out sheglam for good reason lol

Sheglams great. Their hydrating foundation is also bomb and you can purchase a (less than $1) sample from the site to find your colour too. The foundations comparable to armani 😂 and I have both

@@stephaniechapman5368 Well she is supporting, promoting it and getting paid by the company to review it on her channel so she is very much in support of shein since she said the video was sponsored which equals, they paid her to make it.

I wish content creators would not promote Shegam and/or Shein. It’s a horrible brand that promotes slave labor and overconsumption.. there are so many other brands to promote instead that are more ethical

Morgan, I love your content but your viewers are right. You have options for sponsorships and choosing to support SHEIN out of all companies is not it. People are allowed to use SHEGLAM or wear SHEIN if they feel that they don't have many options, but taking a sponsorship from them is a whole different ballpark. Definitely disappointed and I hope you consider the feedback and never work with them again.

Really makes me sad first a sponsored video with boxy charm (who have had a lot of heat for making a blush for example Laura geller (made for boxycharm which means it wasn’t Laura geller formula and that moisturizer that was .99 that had retail of over 100.00 now SheGlam I wouldn’t put on my face . Supporting morphe . Remember the old Morgan

@@vetgmacatmomfl2055 people come on here telling these women they're ugly, stupid, untalented, to get real jobs, etcetera and that is rude. You saying I need help is rude. I was agreeing with her about the red brow product. I wasn't being rude about who she is or what she looks like. There's a difference. I am getting help for 2 suicide attempts and bipolar disorder and an anxiety disorder and maybe I do lack some tact but you are the rude person attacking people for who they are when you don't know a damn thing about it. She can use a different brow product that she likes more. There's no reason to be offended over the color of something.

Wow awesome look today!! That she glam pr box you were sent is awesome! I just got their Laura lee collab and loves the colors .. in regained to supporting she glam cause of “how they treat workers” well I am in healthcare and out government fits in there to I guess .. every work place someone is always going to complain but if the workers are satisfied with their wages, work they do then why should we complain? Do we all get paid what we are worth? No but we do it cause of others things and most of All we love what we do ! ❤if not they can leave and find a job somewhere else right ?

Dude. Nothing about this came from employees “complaining.” It came from undercover journalists investigating the factories in Guangzhou. They violated labor laws. They stole 2/3 of the day’s wage from the employees if they made any errors in any items. They’re forced to work 18 hour days and get 1 day off a month. That’s not anywhere near comparable to what you’re suggesting is happening. And where else do you suggest they go? Since you know the job market in China so well. I’m sorry but I have been respectful to people in the comments that are ignorant to the situation, but your comment sounds like you’re fully aware and don’t care.
