- Let's have a look at the setup I have made to spray paint cars in my garage.
The charcoal filter I used to remove odours is the Filtaroo Hydroponics grow filter, the largest size, 12" by 1,000mm. I recommend just doing an eBay or google search of Filtaroo.

Very interesting set-up. I agree with not dumping too much cash for the occasional spraying but still getting the air filtered and moving and not raising the wrong attention from neighbors and the city. Nice job.
You've got a nice extraction setup there Gunny, so long as it works for your painting and the neighbours don't complain then what's not to like🙏👍John UK
I'm going to invest in (2) 30" Dia Tube Axial Fan - 3 Hp - 3 Ph - 12,000 CFM. It's also uses a aluminum fan and outer mounted motor for sparking. But it's a little pricey. I'm going to build up concrete ramps with grating in the center with the Axial fans in the lower back.
Thanks for the video gunny! I have been iterating on my garage booth setup and found it to be similar to yours where the back half of the garage needs a little fan to keep the fumes moving towards the big fan in the front
Cheers for mentioning the sealed fan part.
Not something I've thought about before even tho it seems obvious.
You got me running off to buy a new fan setup😂
Interesting. I have a little more volume to clean, but this is a decent idea to consider. I may need two of them.
Looks like you done a great job making a paint both at home with what was available to you Gunny..I'm sure you will keep making improvements as you along.
Great insight into how to solve a hazard when spraying paint at home Gunny thanks for showing us how we can keep safe mate
I love your inventive recycling and making stuff work for you with what you got and what you can find you can spend a fortune on this stuff so nice job gunny 👍
Awesome thanks got some good ideas now. 😊
Awsome to see a jerry rigged set up,which looks like something I cobbled together. And works just fine. Sweet. I just have to work on my paint skills..
I use a screen door on one end and a few fans on the other. Wet the area down, tack the spray area and away you go. Beautiful finishes, hardly any dust
I've been very surprised at how well some jobs have come up TBH.
Nice set up
Good car air filter material😁
Nice setup, I think you have your paint exhaust filters in backwards :-) and every bend you have in that hose really cuts down the air flow. As an idea, I use a water spray system as my final filter.
Thank you.
awesome, thanks for sharing!
That's about par for the cores, when you only have room to do all your work in one place that's what they look like, looks just like mine !
Keep it up gunny you are star
Great video mate , I’m in UK and doing the same with an 18” fan , does it matter how you have the fan facing?
What I mean is it ok to have the fan flat on a back wall or is it better having it the way you have it facing down?
Honestly it's trial and error
Hey mate where did you get the fiberglass filter media for your vent box?
WATCHING you make all the mistakes I made over the years. All exhausts should pull from the floor for max efficiently. Exhausting into a barrel filled 1/2 full of water been told works way better than what you have
How well does the exhaust fan take out the overspray out of the garage?
Have you used the FLG5 with the 1.3mm?
Sorry going off topic here. Wanted to see if you’ve heard of the “Wurth” brand of paint in a can. It’s an nitro-alkydal lacquer. Just seeing if u know what exactly that is ? An acrylic or enamel or something else ? It’s supposed to be solvent resistant.
I don’t think it has a hardener like 2K.
Honestly you'd have to ask the rep or do some googling. See if you can find a product data sheet
What is the filter material for the fans and where are you getting it from?
Do you mean the green fibreglass? Just search fibreglass paint filter
Nice setup! How many hours of spraying did your carbon filter last?
Do you mean the big round one? If so it's still going and has done a full respray on my Torana. But I do pre filter it to remove all the particles, so I'm just using it for fumes.
@@TheGunmanChannel Nice! Yeah the big round one. Is it still as filtering just as well as when u first bought it? How many paint jobs has it helped with?
Also was wondering what the m³/min of your fan is?
Thinking about building my own filter setup for painting cars.
@@dave5194 it does seem to be performing as well as at the start, but it will only realistically remove 70-80% of the fumes. automotive paint is very smelly, so like I say, just be realistic.
Thanks Mate….. Rana update soon…..?
I have been treading water on it while doing some mechanical work, so there's not a great deal to update. I'll be working on a couple of spray gun reviews this weekend, then doing a respray on my mum's Jazz. Lots on the cards.
Hi, which gun do you recommend: Ani f160 digital or devilbiss flg 5 for varnish? thank you!
In a workshop I'd recommend the ANi, but at home the FLG5 because it uses less air.
@@TheGunmanChannel thank you!
Great vid Gunnie, I like that new filter been looking for something like that too
My set up is almost the same bar ive put silver rhino roofing insulation everywhere ( walls, roof & floor )
side note the toranas lookin good mate thanks for sharing your wisdom
