  • Want to render up to 3x Faster? You Need RenderGarden! A hyper-threaded network rendering script for Adobe After Effects. www.toolfarm.com/buy/renderga...
RenderGarden splits your comp into a specified number of segments (which we refer to as seeds) and then renders them to multiple background command line windows (which we call, Gardeners).
Through segmenting the comp into multiple seeds, you can fully maximize your CPU cores on a single machine or across multiple machines with network rendering.

Downloaded the trial, and felt that i had to say, this is absolutely amazing! My computer is brand new (I7 8700k with nvdia m4000 GFX card) im working with various trapcode effects on a high res project (4528X1040) and my render time was cut in half!
My cpu utilization was at around 20%, now its around 75-80%.
Setting up is easy, but not 100% automatic and does take some time cous you have to follow a video toturial, so don't leave it for the last minute.
I actually allows me to keep working while rendering (unlike the encoder that really slows me down...)
Totally worth it, will be purchasing!

Hi, this looks really cool, nice work! I am wondering about the network render; Do you need to have a copy of AE + all plugins on each machine like you would in other cases, or is this somehow splitting up the processing with just the Garden Net Render file on its own?

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response! Yes. Every render node needs Creative Cloud installed but not licensed. After Effects can run in Render-Only mode which does not require you to be signed into a CC account. You also need licensed plug-ins, fonts, etc. A good rule of thumb is that the render node should be able to open the AE project and render it on its own. Some plug-ins give you free render nodes. Others require additional render licenses.

When used with Aftercodec MP4 as the render codec, the frame rate decomes wrong. I enter 25 i/s it gives me 24,9 or 25,1 even 23,9 sometimes which is a problem when doing further editing... Any idea?

Hi fab thefab. Sorry to hear about this. Might be an issue with AfterCodecs? If you can submit a support ticket we can take a look. Simply click the Help icon on the lower right of this page: www.mekajiki.com/rendergarden/support/
      Thx!

I've used this and while it sped up my renders heavily, it also missed a few frames here and there when I used it across Mac to PC. Not sure why though. I had to go and find all the missing frames and individually render them out. Was a great tool, but this aspect was very annoying.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you contacted Rendergarden support about this?

Hey! Is this still relevant to AE CC 2020?
    Cheers

Yes, it is AE CC 2020 compatible. You will need to download the latest build. There is a free quarantine version that you can use during the pandemic if you don't have it yet. Log into Toolfarm and it's available on the right side of the page under the Downloads. www.toolfarm.com/buy/rendergarden/

If I have a 4-core i7 3770K, is there much point in getting RenderGarden? Or will it not really offer much benefit on that PC? Thanks!

Hi Deao. I see a speedup on my MacBook Pro which has a similar proc. You should be able to render 2 or 3 Gardeners simultaneously which could speed you up 1.5 - 2x depending on the project. I suggest downloading the 7 day demo and trying it out for yourself.

Swordfish thanks. I just tried a few tests on a comp that renders the first half quickly and the second slowly. AE did it in 03:19. 12 seeds 3 gardeners took 03:44 (so a fair bit slower). 3 seeds 3 gardeners took 03:06 (touch faster). 4 seeds 3 gardeners took 03:11. So I'm not really seeing much of a benefit at the moment. Not sure if I'm setting stuff up badly? Seed/gardener ratios bad? AE seems to use all the CPU threads at about 80%, RG seems to use 90-100% of all threads. Is it best to close AE whilst rendering with RG?

And 2 seeds 2 gardeners was 03:22, so not any improvement there either. Any ideas? Thanks :)

It really comes down to whats happening in the comp. If you have a very simple comp it will not show much benefit, as the CPU may not be needed much and the extra time it takes us to launch consoles and re-combine can negate speed benefits. We also found that NeatVideo does an amazing job at maximizing CPU, since their processing is taking place outside the AE environment, so we will render slower. Another thing to consider... I have found that on Windows if I give it 4 seeds and 4 gardeners, sometimes a gardener does not start until the first one finishes. To fix this problem I give it 4 seeds and 10 gardeners... 6 of the gardeners will be idle but they tend to pick up the job concurrently (this is not a problem on Mac).

You can see how it helps on this heavy comp... ruclips.net/video/yXrDASQlKSY/видео.html
