We should have a poll on how many of the people ending up in the turtle feel heavy set. I'm not a big guy, only 106 kg, but the younger, more skilled, and more mobile people will get me here for some reason.

I was in my nogi class last night and we were drilling an attack from turtle and I just found myself stuck in turtle 80% of the time during sparring. I’m a white belt so I expect to be stuck in these positions a lot anyway but I just found myself wishing I knew a sweep or reversal to help.
I’ve come on RUclips to figure it out and your video will definitely help me a lot. I’m going back tonight so I’m gona see if I can get myself in turtle to drill these escapes etc during some sparring!

This was really helpful! I mean, I've never successfully pulled any of these off in a live roll (there's no way the folks I train with would let me peek my head out or clean Granby like that), but at least now I've had something to try instead of waiting for the attack.

I use the first one all the time.. it works relatively well. id say about a 20-30% success rate depending on who you're rolling with which is pretty good in my book

Another great video! I just asked a question today in class about a turtle escape. I usually roll away and recover closed guard, but coach always stuffs that. Today I asked why I couldn't roll from him, and he had a body-lock from the rear-quadrant (arms around my torso). He said in that situation, I should stand up, and then the defense is as-if he tried to take my back while standing.

Can you make a video of how to escape when the opponent is hugging you TIGHTTTTT when you are at bottom position of full mount, and sometimes they lock their feet together? I would be really appreciate it, that "submission/control" is really annoying.
Edit: I forgot that their entire upper body is make contact with yours and thy are also hiding their head
