  • In this episode I am back on the river with my friend Nate. In just a few hours of drifting we catch and release many trout, all on the fly rod, including a beautiful Cutthroat! Experiencing a true fly hatch in Idaho, with the sun setting and Teton mountains towering in the background was truly an incredible experience. Please make sure to subscribe to the channel if you enjoyed this video. We have many more in the works! #flyfishing #fyp #RUclips #flyfisherman #cutthroat #trout #idaho

Before you guys release another video, please learn how to properly handle fish. Check out any of Todd Moen’s videos for proper fish handling technique.
    Those native cutties deserve better.

Are you sure you were squeezing tight enough on those guys? It didn’t look like you were able to pop both eyes out of the sockets. And why would you only destroy the slime coat on one side pinning it next to your body? It’s nice when the diseases spread symmetrically. When there is still tongue parts stuck to the hook from ripping the streamer from its mouth, is that considered baiting the hook? What a perfect demonstration of how NOT to handle trout. Maybe hillbilly banjo should have been your music choice for this vid.

@timr5649 people have been trying to impose all the idiosyncrasies of fly fishing on me for the past 15 years. Think about your comment. Correcting someone’s method of torturing the fish is laughable. let’s face it….fly fishing is essentially torturing fish for personal sport and pleasure. Telling someone how to handle their fish on a RUclips video is hilarious if anything at all.

@@patb32174 Patrick, your response not only saddens me, but adds a layer of despair. You’ve clearly been able to learn many things pursuing fly fishing. From the mechanics of the cast to the biology of the waters, you’ve demonstrated an ability to learn. Learning better fish handling techniques is not any more difficult than you’ve demonstrated the ability to acquire. This is an issue of education and maybe even more so why it is so important. Poor handling technique is not an insignificant factor in mortality rates among trout populations. It is sufficiently documented. You not only have an opportunity to learn, but with your platform you can help to inform and educate- rather than offer, well, excuses. As fellow fly fishers, it is our duty to learn and preserve for future generations. Had I operated with a like mind at your age, you may not have had the opportunity to enjoy that fabulous water (which I have fished as well). An analogy may be like the broken windows policy of some police departments. The more the “minor transgressions” are permitted, the more decline accelerates. Please do some research, and consider a video dedicated to what you learn to help us all have open dialogue with the shared interest of healthy and long lasting waters to fish.
