Martinu took 18th Century style with 20th Century dissonances a la Stravinsky and Britten and created a charming and invigorating piece of tuneful anachronisms. Wonderfully witty performance!
I love the juxtaposition of harpsichord and piano. Some feel the harpsichord has a muddy sound. The piano adds shafts of sunlight. Wonderful. And the cycle of fifths in the second movement is pure joy.

The aliance of the harpsichord and the small orchestra is well written. The orchestra never occults the hapsichord.
