One of the very few great reviews out there. Excellent job, Katzenpapa. No bulls**t. All relevant. Nothing extra. I'll be looking at more of your reviews.
Great review. I got one to compare with my Wholesale Advanced Digital Game Timer. I ended preferring my Wholesale clock. I thought my wholesale clock had better color (grey), was more compact and the levers required less pressure to push. Review on my channel. The display on the Wholesale advanced clock is pretty good, the one on the DGT 2500 is a little larger and better.
Nice comparison video! My biggest preference when it comes to chess clubs is I like mechanical levers better than the digital touch clocks, and really good contrast.
I am really surprised someone hasn't come out with a clock that works with online chess sites like LiChess just to display the time. When I am playing on LiChess with my Millennium Supreme 55 board and connected to LiChess via my phone or tablet I find seeing the clocks a little awkward. It would be so much better if there was a clock like these that could be position next to the board in a traditional manner to display the time only.
I have a Millennium Supreme 55 too and I agree with you on that. What I do is to put my phone on one of those phone/tablet stands (which are inexpensive on Amazon) so it sits upright besides the board. It's almost as good as having a clock, not quite, but a pretty good alternative. That being said, I also have a DGT Bluetooth Rosewood board and when playing Fritz on the computer, I plug in my DGT3000 clock in the board, and I do get times but also moves of the computer displayed on the DGT clock. Very nice setup, although I still prefer the LEDs of the Millennium.
Very sharp clock, ideal if you don't own or aren't planning to own a DGT electronic chess board in which case the DGT3000 is a better choice. I guess the 2500 is meant to replace the ubiquitous blue DGT regular clock. One thing I didn't understand: if the black bars indicate which side has the black pieces, shouldn't the lever be depressed on that side rather than up? Because then when you press the start button, it's black's time that starting to go down instead of white. See at 10:59.
Yes, it is a upgrade top the North American version. I am very happy with it. ABout the black bars and whose move it is - Yes I made a mistake, the black bars indicate White starts. I guess I just had the black lines and black pieces on the brain!
DGT should have made this an exclusive chess clock with all the time controls for FIDE or USCF including Chess 960. There are garbage controls that I don’t need unfortunately. All that time for development of a much awaited product wasted.
Reading the comments below... Some imply that the DGT 2500 lacks some time controls, and is not used in tournaments? Is this true? Thanks for responding...
Well, you can't plug a DGT board to it like you can with that dgt 3000 clock. As far as the time controls, they're very similar. Maybe some differences but I'd have to check but I don't think it's enough to where it will make anybody any difference in all honesty because you can always set the clock to whatever Time setting you want.
FIDE clocks must show the increment or delay where delay on NA just blinks for the delay also multiple time controls must run thru zero time before adding the next period has nothing to do with DGT compatibility
Honestly I'm not sure. They seem to be about the same to me, but there could be subtle differences. Is there a specific way to check these differences?
Period transitions time control Try put same short time to see fast result ( play time regular or bonus or delay & move counter both clock check & see what difference which
Sadly I couldn’t get 2500 since it’s expensive so I had to get the 3000 which was more cheaper for like 90 dollars (I don’t live in the USA so it’s Australian)

It should be a more harmonious color to the chess boards. Dark brown or deep maroon

No problem! And thank you so much for commenting!
I love that this channel is quite varied and shows different elements of chess and not just the games. Good video! Really enjoying this channel
Yes that is the intent and thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful clear display indeed.
I can't wait to play in a tournament game with this clock.
Fantastic review. The 2500’s predecessor was the 2010/NA and the 2000. The 3000 is the successor of the DGT XL.

As always, an excellent review 👍
👍👍 thanks!
I was going to go for the 2500, but it has no connectivity compared to the 3000. I've ordered a DGT Pi.
Thank you. Very great review. No bs❤
Thank you! 👍
Pretty cool! Thanks!
You are welcome!
Thank you. Hi from Türkiye!
You are welcome and thanks for watching!

We need the DGT 2500 in blue and brown to replace the DGT North American and DGT 2010 clock
Those would be very welcome additions to this line-up!

The 2500 is a great club clock for sure. But has no connectivity so I don't understand how they call it official FIDE clock.
Maybe because most tournaments runs on non DGT Boards.

Great review, new Sub here!
Thanks I appreciate it!
2500 seems to be more ergonomic.
If 2500 costs 50 dollar is okay, but it costs same as 3000, no chance, 3000 still better dgt 2500 is a mix like chronos and dgt
Great video good comparison i have question What difference between dgt 3000 & dgt 2500 about period transitions time control

O'Conner Port
Which is better 3000 or 2500 because I’m buying one soon
I like the 2500 better. The bigger number and better contrast, and I like the delay feature better too.
@@katzenpapaso you recommend 2500?
@@Ocen12ent yeah I personally like it better.
Sadly I couldn’t get 2500 since it’s expensive so I had to get the 3000 which was more cheaper for like 90 dollars (I don’t live in the USA so it’s Australian)
And I went to the store which is 170$
The sound of the levers seems to be the weakest element.
And in all fairness I was hitting them kind of hard. Probably harder than you'd hit them under normal circumstances.
Can this clock count up? If you set both times to zero, what happens?
I have never tried to see if it will count up I'll test it out and let you know if I find anything.
@@katzenpapa it works! I contacted support, it works on setting 31, set both times to zero.
@coletonboyer938 nice good to know!!
Which one is better??
Between what?
@@katzenpapa dgt 3000 or dgt2500
@rajdey7032 I like the new design better with the higher contrast numbers and the bigger paddle, but honestly they both are great clocks.
@@katzenpapa which one you suggest for Classical & Blitz Club tournaments?
