Its amazing how this 14th century English folk song is still being sung and enjoyed in the 21st century. Albeit in this Simon and Garfunkel version, which is beautifully sung and arranged here. Well done indeed !
Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine Tell her to make me a cambric shirt (On the side of a hill, in the deep forest green) Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme (Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground) Without no seams nor needle work (Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain) Then she'll be a true love of mine (Sleeps unaware of the clarion call) Tell her to find me an acre of land (On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves) Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme (Washes the grave with silvery tears) Between the salt water and the sea strands (A soldier cleans and polishes a gun) Then she'll be a true love of mine Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather (War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions) Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme (Generals order their soldiers to kill) And gather it all in a bunch of heather (And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten) Then she'll be a true love of mine Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine
You both have amazing voices. But what I loved most was that the phrasing and emphasis stayed true to the Simon and Garfunkel version; in some covers, the singers do try to do more with the voice but in this case you stayed true to the spirit of the song which is why I think this is one the best covers out there
Scarborough Fair Lyrics (there are more, these are verses I chose): „O, where are you going?“ “To Scarborough Fair,” Savoury, sage, rosemary, and thyme; Remember me to one who lives there, For once she was a true lover of mine. And tell her to make me a cambric shirt Savoury, sage, rosemary, and thyme; Without any seam or fine needle work, And then she’ll be a true lover of mine. And tell her to wash it in yonder dry well, Savoury, sage, rosemary, and thyme; Where no water sprung, nor a drop of rain fell, And then she’ll be a true lover of mine. Tell her to dry it on yonder thorn, Savoury, sage, rosemary, and thyme; Which never bore blossom since Adam was born, And then she’ll be a true lover of mine. And when you have done and finished your work, Savoury, sage, rosemary, and thyme; You may come to me for your cambric shirt, And then you will be a true lover of mine.
Scarborough had one of the longest of annual fairs in Medieval times, 40 days through July to September. Here were traded all sorts of exotic goods, including much wine, while Scarborough made pottery was exported all around the North Sea coasts.
I really enjoyed this version of such a classic tale. These two have wonderful voices, both independently and together in harmony. I can imagine they’d do a good cover of “Whiskey Lullaby “ as well.
This is incredible i hope you get a million followers. You bring out the mournful long ago soul of the song (its origins are from the 17th century). And you even wear period dress too.
From the Internet: "For the Romans, parsley was a symbol of death and rebirth often used to decorate tombs; sage was a healing herb and thought to impart immortality and wisdom; rosemary was the herb of remembrance used both at weddings and funerals; thyme was said to give courage."
Okay but that was actually beautiful. A word of constructive criticism for when going in for a harmony between you two, since his voice is deeper and therefore stronger, try turning down the volume of his voice while editing the recording, as well as maybe fleshing out a few more harmonies to fill the gap between your ranges (i understand that is difficult to make however). All in all, a beautiful cover nonetheless! You both habe auch lovely voices! Have a wonderful day ❤
My mother is a good knitting person.. twin and single needle.. hmmmm.. she had taught me how a seamless garments were made.. hmmmm.. dear wife.. i was just wondering.. could I be qualify.. ..?.. Hmmmm..
Amazing cover. Both of you sing beautifully , but for me, being a man, the girl soft voice and beauty are just breathtaking.

Lot of magic when created this song.
We can feel 'something' inside.
Some an old song did the same..likes silent night maybe.
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(On the side of a hill, in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

You may come to me for your cambric shirt,
And then you will be a true lover of mine.
