Thanks for the tutorial man... My Z3 and Z4 both had this issue with the battery...and I did not leave it carelessly on the dash.....my Z4 did this after a year..... It's a real pain that a 500 dollar phone start coming apart like this.....thanks 👍 👍
For sure. Very frustrating. And I have ones come though from all kinds of random stuff. Had 2 come through in one week iPhone XS and Galaxy Note 20. Both had simply been dropped both ballooned up.
Quick story: I purchased a Z4 in Oct. 2019. Then I lost it in Jan. 2020, and purchased a replacement on E-bay in Feb 2020. After a year, I found my old phone, but kept using the replacement. Shortly after finding the old phone, the replacement had the battery swell in April 2021, so I switched to the original phone. In Nov. 2021 (just after I paid off the original phone), the ORIGINAL phone also had the battery swell. (Neither one had been left out in the sun.) I was really hoping I could keep using my original Z4 for another year, but I felt I needed to get a reliable phone for personal and work, so I just got a Pixel 6 two weeks ago. Can the old two old Z4 phones be repaired? How much for battery replacement and fixing the bowed out screen? If fixed, my son could use one of them.
I have had battery in a phone swell up just from no use. Pretty rare. A person could definitely get them both fixed. If the screens still turn on then shouldn’t need a new screen. But sometimes they do break while trying to remove them. For battery replacement only our shop runs around $100. Includes labor and part. If it’s a screen and battery both then around $175.
Which is a good price if you don't feel comfortable doing it btw I just picked up a battery for 40 and a screen for 100 so they are just charging 60 for labor and if you get both they are only charging 35. If you do it yourself you'll want to own/buy a hot air gun, adhesive, and a phone repair toolkit (technically you don't need all the bits but they aren't that expensive.) You'd probably pay more for the tools then this guy charges though LOL.
I have a question. I bought a new battery for my Z4 and getting ready to replace it. The screen is in excellent condition. When I take it apart should I leave the bezel connected to the screen or to the phone itself?
@waltercondi4584 Keep it on the screen. If possible. I had several where I intended to keep it on the screen but after warming it to soften the adhesive the adhesive that held the bezel to the screen also came off. Not the end of the world. But does make putting it back together take longer and harder to keep it looking clean.
@@3200ish if I have that issue that you had and when reapplying it what should I put on first? The bezel to the phone or the bezel to the screen. This is my first rodeo lol I already bought everything I need like the t7000 adhesive and the battery
@waltercondi4548 either way is fine. I prefer bezel to screen then into phone. I think it’s easier but you have to let the glue cure before you set the screen back into the frame. Also If you’re able make sure all your stuff is backed up before starting.
We do! I’ve been working for a guy for quite awhile now who has been doing repairs for over 8 years. Yea see that a lot in older phones or if they get left some place where they can get over heated.

TY, this really demystified the screen and battery cable connections for me
My moto Z4 did they exact same thing! Going to try and replace the battery myself 🤞

Dude you rock
Thank You!
Thanks for the tutorial! What width Tesa tape did you use to adhere the screen (bezel) onto the back?
On the top and bottom I’ll try to put 4 or 5mm the use a blade to shave it down. On the sides I use 1 or 2mm where it allows me to

@@3200ish thank you for the reply. Really appreciate it ☕
Can you list your tools and where they can be obtained? Thanks
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Here's a link to a recent video with links to the tools!

btw, my moto Z4 the screw on the battery cable cover is a t4, not a t5
It is much easier to replace the battery without breaking the LCD when they swell.
@diydantex6150 haha very true!
god the gulping of the saliva in this video is too much.
