I think the Savior design was spot on if you are going to create an all powerful weapon that should only be used in a moral fashion thousand of years in the future. One of the things I thought was brilliant about this movie is that their ultimate weapon has a moral trigger lock. To put it another way, if humanity was no longer capable of love, why would we deserve to live?
Probably the two most obscure quote I’ll use is Zorg’s “Empty, the opposite of full”. If you put a little future southern twang on it some people get it.
Is Leeloo the 1st MTF transgender protagonist/love interest in a film? It's implied that her original form was a male, but when they reconstructed her body they made her into an attractive female. As the Priest says "He's a she?", implying that even he thought that she was supposed to be a male. & while it's not brought up in the film, does Leloo know that originally she was male but prefers being female given that she falls in love with Corbin Dallas & saves the world because he loves her as a female? So many questions are brought up by the implications of this idea that they just gloss over or completely ignore in this film from this concept.
I took the "he's a she" as a, I can't work on this patient he's my son riddle. That the first priest who was deciphering the hieroglyphs just immediately thought the supreme being was a man and that Father Vito Cornelius was just told that it was a man and he would have also told David it was a man. But in the future, humans are in contact with the Mondoshawan, so why would they have not given them more direction on what they needed to do or about the supreme being, so yeah that very well may be the first MTF protagonist.
@@Nsinger998Didn't the scientist tell the general that they tweaked the DNA to make the alien female so it would be more "tractable", and easier to control? Or am I thinking of "Species"? 🤔🤓
@@patrickmike2524What? That riddle doesn't match at all amd has nothing to do with MTF. Humanity is in contact with the Mondoshawan but that doesn't mean they told us anything. Also, Why would the Mondos care about the gender of the supreme being? They didn't. They only cared that a human priest was there to recieve the supreme being when the time came. They never specified the gender and Leeloo was explicitly rebuilt from her severed arm which means she was always female.
I mean, there’s Dog Day Afternoon, but I’ve never actually seen that so I’m not sure how well that’s handled (and it’s from the 70’s so it’s potentially SHOCKINGLY poorly lol)
wrong, "Aziz light!" has been adopted by everyone
I love how Vanessa just stopped talking at a certain point
I was taught not to speak when I got nothing to say. More men should take that lesson to heart

Ooooh, a really good point. Hadn't thought of it that way, but it fits very well.

I've never met a person who loved this movie that didn't yell "aziz light!" Randomly
The kid that played Aziz went on to direct The Godfather (citation needed)
Aziz! LIGHT!
You boys make my day better
Wow a The Grumps plug
Everyone knows "Aziz Light!"
You guys laugh, but there is a kid named Boba Fett in my son's kindergarten class. No shit. Fucking hippe Waldorf school! Lol. I love it.
"It's not horny. It's si-fi."
I would have listened to an hour of podcast about The Offspring
21:39 she takes a little pill thing out of a bottle - whatever that is turns into the chicken
Keep it separated is definitely not smash mouth.
I remember Aziz! LIGHT!
Something else that's still holding up today is asking for consent before you kiss someone who's unconscious
The scene with Luke Perry takes place in 1914, not 3000BC. he has a gun ffs
No it's definitely Ancient Egypt, didn't you see all the Ancient Egyptians in the ruins the archaeologists are studying?
moultipás
i like valerian. theres a bunch of gimicky CGI moments and generally uneven, but its a cool space fantasy movie, its a sci-fi Stardust
I have some news for the guest if she hasn't seen "The Abyss". . .. 😉🤓🥰

Um what? No where was trans ever even implied. The priest assumed Leeloo would be male based on his own biases.

Might I suggest the Born Sexy Yesterday video from Pop Culture Detective to follow up after this for everyone :)
