Them being a multi-billion company doesn't mean they can't make bad designs.. Look at Lingsha's design, literally budget Tingyun (the same color pallet with the same repetitive clothes design with almost all Xianzhou females)

Even so I don't think repetitive necessarily equals bad. People complain about the lack of pants and abundance of heels on female characters, but how many characters can have pants before that too becomes repetitive?

@krongilo12 It's like comparing someone who does callisthenics vs weightlifting. Weight lifters may be strong lifting heavy amounts of weight but they may not be able to do 20-30 push ups or pull up bars max.
calisthenics is using your own bodyweight and making your body feel strong. Look at Bruce Lee's physic, he may not look like he doesn't have any muscle but he pull some devastating fast kicks and punches.
Weight lifting is training singular parts of the body and also strengthening them. the best example is a Russian weight lifter named Tatiana Kashirina.

Not a Hoyo player but since I'm very interested in character design, I want to say fk those people. In the trailer she literally steps on flying kites, so she is hella light. Also, even pro athletes don't really show muscles normally, they have to flex to show their muscles. Exercising regularly actually gives you aell toned body. If they even remotely watch the Olympics, most female athletes are really well-toned and feminine, if not straight up slender.
Also also, Feixian is an individual of a fantasy race in a fantasy game. Those people need to stop and be stopped. They are not fans.

The problem is that hoyo heavily pirates cultural aspects and then magically forgets to do skin color, which they as a company always do. Most people will say they’re aren’t really knowledgeable about different skin tone people in china, which is false especially considering the research they do and look at the eremites.
Examples are natlan and sumeru for genshin which are the 2 most recent but they bleached a girls skin in honkai impact 3rd

They dont really care about player satisfaction from other countries when 2/3rds of their income comes from their own country. When it comes to hoyoverse designs, we have to understand that these characters with THESE types of bodies sell really well. The community might say they want something, but will act poor when they may receive it. Also, hoyoverse cares more about their mainland (China) so I don’t know why the western audience thinks changing the skin tone is gonna magically fix EVERYTHING.

It's really just all CN beauty standards where pale means pretty and muscle means ugly, regardless of context. It's very different from the West where we have more varied preferences.

One thing people should understand when it comes to designing characters is that if she was muscular her clothes she has on right now would look really bad on her. You dont see her muscles ingame anyways since she is wearing clothes over them and what you get in the animated shorts is just a bonus and if it wasnt for you you wouldnt even know and wouldnt complain so stop crying unless you want mihoyo to stop giving a fu- and next character they release is a turtle. The main issue is that she's clearly strong but has virtually no muscle mass shown on her character in drawings. Hoyo has a real problem with a lack of diverse characters as far as body frame and skin tones go. HSRs asymmetry in character design is also getting bland. There's a lot of valid critiques to hoyo and it's not unfair to make fun of them because they clearly have the means to make better character designs and not doing so is a failure upon them.
I think the criticisms are valid. I'm sick of having "strong" female characters that don't have muscles. It's all BC muscular women aren't perceived as beautiful which I think is a load of shit.
