- Here we are with week 1 of the Lizzie blanket crochet along (cal). This week is called Jane.
To get started, I would like to recommend you make a sampler of 32CH in any colour of yarn you happen to have (don’t use the CAL yarn!).
Do each row once as I do them in this video and then you have an actual stitch reminder for that week. When we get to Week 6, we will use this sampler for trying out the border.
You can also use this sampler as a reference for another pattern I have in mind which will come out after the CAL has finished. In other words, it’s worth making it.

Thank you for this crochet along! I love your cheery videos! I will be slowly using leftover yarn for mine for now but am putting $1 away for every pound I lose and will reward myself with the Lizzie pack of yarn when the time comes that I have enough saved! I love the colors!!!! Much better than a food reward!

My Lizzie arrived today! I don’t sleep well at night so I worked Finished Lizzie One already! Ready to start Lizzie 2. Your tip of markers proved to be the secret for straight edges! Hi I am crocheting a sampler. Which is going to be the blanket, I am using a spare ball of stylecraft Dk but Anya doesn't tell what size hook you use. 🙄

i've only just taught myself to crochet a few months ago (using your daisy granny sqaure video!) after being a knitter for about 10 years. i just popped in here to see if new stitches would be too complicated for me but i think i could actually do it! i might try after all the christmas crafts are complete 😊

This will be my first cal big thank u to patsy crochet as after watching her video I purchased the colour pack my question is on watching the video am I right in thinking the DC mentioned in video is UK treble stitch for v stitches etc can't wait to get started regards Sue
You are right. Anja uses American terms. A double crochet is a UK treble stitch.

I did have a question about the crochet of this blanket am I supposed to do like a video number one am I supposed to do that 30 times 30 times for each of the four video instructions I guess I'm a little confused I love what I'm doing so far and it's going so fast I'm using different colors and you have but I am just enjoying this so much if somebody could just drop me a line real quick I would certainly appreciate it cuz I'm stopped right where I am after the fifth row I don't know if I should continue on with number two video or if I have to complete 30 rows and number one thank you
If you go the my blog, the pattern is there together with the colour list, just switch the colours for the ones you're using, then follow the pattern Cindy, it should all fall into place then. Anja x
I have short stubby fingers and thus find making beans quite awkward, but I get there eventually. In the last hour or so I have managed to get thirteen beans onto the practice piece!

I had a look at the price of your yarn pack and have decided that I'll use my own stash OR try and find equivalent shades at my local yarn shops (once they reopen) the price when converted to AUD is $55.59 THEN the postage on top will probably be around the $20 mark..so what I will need info for is 1: how many colours will I need 2: how many balls of each colour..our Aussie yarns are sold in 'ply's' and I think 8 ply is the equivalent of DK yarn..I'm looking forward to tackling this project..
15 balls of DK is needed…DK is 4 ply…15 colors…one ball of each color
thanks @@christinegreen287 DK looks thicker than our 8 ply down under..but as I said, I'll sort through my own yarn to see if I can find similar colours..and if I can't then I've found a Stylecraft page down under so postage shouldn't be as expensive..
@@christinegreen287hello Carol, I think the style craft special dk is an 8ply yarn ( not 4ply )which uses a 4mm hook or knitting needle size. 4 ply is sock yarn. I have just checked the ball band, each ball is 100gms, 295 metres, 100 percent premium acrylic hope that helps It's very nice to use and wash. best Ellen

Where do I go for the list of colors for the Liszt blanket
I love this pattern and want to make it but in a different size and colors. First, do you have a multiple I need to chain to get the right amount of stitches (ie chain multiples of 5 + 2). Also do you have a list of the colors and the sequence they are used? Like maybe #1 dark brown, #2 gold, etc? I like the way you colors are spaced and how they compliment each other, but this blanket is a gift and I’d like to make it in colors better suited to my friend’s decor. Thank you! I love this design!

Lovely choice of colours for the blanket. Is it best to hide the ends as you go, or sew them in later?
This blanket has a double enclosed border, so no, don't do anything with your ends, they will all disappear as if by magic later! Anja x
So when we do the actual Afghan when changing colors are we clipping after each row?
Yes you have to cut the yarn when changing colors but ALWAYS leave a tail of about 6-8 inches.
Do I repeat the colors you just used or do I continue using the rest of the colors.

Hi, the blankets I make with the 15 ball packs are usually single bed sized, the actual size depends on your own tension, Anja x

could anybody please name the stylecraft DK colours not included in this weeks crochet homework. The shipping to India costs as much or more than the yarn pack itself. I have many style craft colours so maybe can manage.

Ugh… when I do the half double crochet the second repeat I’m getting 26 stitches, it’s supposed to be 32 isn’t it? I’ve frogged three times
Hi Yvonne! You chain 32, then chain 1 more, then do HDC in the second chain from the hook. In other words, you have 33 chains total, yarn over and place one HDC in the 31st chain. Hope this helps.
@@christinegreen287 I figured out what I did wrong, when I was doing the V’s I wasn’t doing two stitches in the same chain so it threw me off

What size yarn (ply) and hook?
This is made with a DK/3 weight yarn, l use a 3.5mm hook, but it's recommended size is 4mm, best to try it and see what it looks like and how it feels, Anja x

It all depends on your tension and yarn you use, i am using a 3.5 as I always do for DK.
