I must say, as a Newcastle fan, I look forward to the great North East derby against Norfolk every year. ;) The next superstar to cross the pond will be England's best defender, Titus Bramble.
Two times NORWICH player of the year :) And one was the year when they were in the premiership Hes a good player, and i am a Norwich fan, wouldn't say an england legend, but he is a very good player none the less.
Nor-folk, in the North-East of England. A legend. A LEGEND. And the greatest goal EVER. Against MANCHESTER. Have you followed Freddie at all? Yes, into the Beezer Homes League. God Bless America. And fat Americans.
YoungCheese is right, that goal was not against United, its against Birmingham. Huckerby scored a good goal against United also, pretty similar, but he was playing for Coventry at the time.
I wouldnt say "great stars" but Huckerby held his own in the premiership, for Coventry if I remember rightly. I can see him doing very well in MLS. LOl at "he comes from the North-Folk team... in the North East...." hmmm
According to the internet, you are responsible for the greatest soccer goal of all time :) Anyone else came here because of Lukey's recommendation off The Football Ramble?
Actually he did play one game for Newcastle United so maybe he's referring to that. He also played 40 times for Leeds, which I suppose in the north east in one way or another. But yeah, typical lack of research. I'm amazed he didn't say he played for Europe United.
lol justisnt enough for this not even lmao or rotfl can cover it this is pure comedy genius thats also the nicest way ive ever heard darren huckerby being described "leg-end" when he asked "why have you come to the us?" he really want to shout "the money!"
Wow. this is terrible journalism in any medium, forget the sport for moment. To make a direct journalistic comparison, it's like a former NHL player joining a British Elite League Ice Hockey team. I can pretty much guarantee that every player of NHL quality that has joined Northern Ireland's Belfast Giants will have experienced a highly professional and accurate initial interview from the reporter who would have got their former NHL team's name correct, their NHL career stats correct, wouldn't describe them as a legend of the sport when, in reality they were a local hero at a [no disrespect to the Norwich or Coventry sides he played in] smaller club. When showing NHL footage they would know the teams and the game in the footage they were showing and wouldn't ask questions like. Did you play against Gretsky? Do you have a famous wife we can promote? I've seen school reporters in Northern Ireland perform more professional journalism than this. A big part of journalism is interviewing people about things you yourself may not know anything about. Rule 1 is properly research the subject and sound like you at least know what you're talking about. This guy, and his research team wouldn't last 5 minutes in UK Television.
Hell if Huck can score at least 20 goals for us and bring us out of the bottom of the table, he'll be a legend around here lol! Probably won't happen but one can dream! Go Quakes! Gary Radnich (interviewer reporter) is annoying sometimes. Especially when he interviews soccer (football) players, although in this interview, he was a bit tamed. I guess one can be thankful he's giving the sport some air time. Usually the Quakes or the sport in general doesn't get this kind of local media coverage.
"The World According To Gary"...haha classic! Darren Hucker..er..er..Huckerby. Check the headlines: "Man bites off another's eyebrow" "Bldg fire leads to 150 pot plants" Yeah PROBABLY a step down from the Premier League. A step down from sanity too.
What do you want the reporter to say? We've got an over-paid English journeyman joining one of our teams... The media know that won't help sell seats or shirts so of course they're going to hype him. The thing is, if you had told me during his first year in Coventry that down the line he'd be introduced as a legend, I might have believed you, but he was one of those players that showed a lot of promise early and never built on it... Noel Whelan, Jody Morris...
Oh gosh, that's completely awful :'). Credit to Darren for going through such a totally confused & pointless interview. Love Huckerby- wish he'd stepped down to come play for Lincoln again. At least the journalism would have been a bit better...
And I guess the reason they hyped him so hard is that probably throughout the whole show, they advertised "Gary has an interview with a big soccer star from Europe!" to keep people watching. Just kind of sad.
Captain all I want is some basic research before going on the air. Getting some intern to look for youtube vids and then basing an interview on it is not research. I have no problem with Huckerby, I think he will do fine. He was ok at Norwich, and with prem experience, he probably will be an MLS legend, if he can stay healthy. This nitwit on KRON however, needs a swift kick in the stones.
Wtf!! They clearly just researched into huckerby via youtube 5 mins before the interview. They didn't know the team he came from, they didn't even know how to say his bloomin' surname and the goal they showed was not the one against Manchester United. (It was against Birmingham only a couple of years ago)
lol, fair play to the lad....he was always an average player over here but nice to see him doing well in a weaker league. He did have a very brief spell with my team (Newcastle), but he couldn't cut it in the premiership s we let him go.
"Yeah I was playing against David Beckham then." 'Soooo, have you ever played against David Beckham?' Gaaaaaah, this is cringeworthy. Good luck Darren you legend. :-D
Can't believe that British football could let such an extraordinary legend go!!!!! um, yeah, Darren Huckerby, journey man striker well passed his best, is released from struggling Championship side (that's Div 2 in old money) causing massive overstatements by newsreader as he signs for MLS alsorans. What next? MLS supposed to be about the same standard as Championship or SPL so its a sideways move Darren. One you're lucky to get by all accounts of recent performances
Huckerby's such a gent, putting up with it all haha :)
Let's go Norfork!
He even got the geography wrong. Amazing.
Our, uh, Internet sources tell me he's a LEGEND!!! in Eng-uh-land. Greatest goal ever lol
A pure insight into the vacuity of the American mindset! Brilliant!
Ahh Rolandinho was such a good player.
North East England??
The guy says it was against Manchester and they show a clip of him scoring against Birmingham!
The norfork team!
"according to the internet and our international sources"... legendary!
He's a legend.
He's a legend! Legendary! Legend legend legend! When you go on the internet...he's got scoring ability! Go the Norfolk team!!
I must say, as a Newcastle fan, I look forward to the great North East derby against Norfolk every year. ;)
The next superstar to cross the pond will be England's best defender, Titus Bramble.
In case you didn't catch that, he's a legend.
Huckerby has actually played very well for San Jose.
I like how the interviewer ignores him when Huckerby asks him "how are you?"
What the fuck did I just watch? The Legend took it in good humour!
This is now my favourite video on youtube. Absolute genius! I couldn't stop laughing!
Excellent! That was my favourite bit, too.
always liked him when he was at manchester city- worked his socks off. i remember one game he ran until he was sick (true story). thats commitment!
Two times NORWICH player of the year :) And one was the year when they were in the premiership
Hes a good player, and i am a Norwich fan, wouldn't say an england legend, but he is a very good player none the less.
my first question when I get off the plane is also where is the kron
"According to the innerNET"
Quality journalism.
OMG when he talks about the goal he scored against manchester, the clip they show isnt even that one. it's the one he scored against birmingham
America..FUCK YEAH!
Jesus. Quality journalism there buddy.
Darren Huckerby! A coventry legend i'd luv to see him ina cov shirt again =]
did anyone get the link to this from bbc sport?
Brilliant reply!
agree with the last part; the same is true for crew here in columbus!
Woah i'm looking forward to seeing Rolandinho play..
football weekly brought me here
Huckerby: 3 games, 2 goals.
Early Grade: A+ (or 10, or whatever you use for "marks" in the UK
I love the way Huckerby mentions that he won player of the year twice, and some smart ass quickly flashes it up on screen a few seconds later :D
Nor-folk, in the North-East of England.
A legend. A LEGEND. And the greatest goal EVER. Against MANCHESTER.

He scored on his MLS debut! Legend! (lol)
Actually he did play one game for Newcastle United so maybe he's referring to that. He also played 40 times for Leeds, which I suppose in the north east in one way or another. But yeah, typical lack of research. I'm amazed he didn't say he played for Europe United.
lol @ the fart noise @ 2:45. Did you add that?
Legend
What a crazy interview. If Huckerby's a legend then Leon Osman is God.
0:57 "The Norrr-fork Team"?
Check out the news ticker at the bottom at 1:29 only in America...
You mean Norwich is in Norfolk...
"and the big soccer story tonight,
ROLANDINHO has just signed deal..."
LOOOOOOOOL made my day....
lol justisnt enough for this
not even lmao
or rotfl can cover it
this is pure comedy genius
thats also the nicest way ive ever heard darren huckerby being described "leg-end"
when he asked "why have you come to the us?"
he really want to shout "the money!"
Well done Strachan
the norfork team
Manchester City play in sky blue. However, that is Manchester United playing in their alternate kit.
@Jmeister2
Newcastle? Huge club that.......
This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
An ENGLISH LEGEND!!!
I think you'll find it was against Birmingham City, not Ipswich. Still, great goal!
i saw huckerby today in norwich lol he was being photoed for come charity
"You know what I'm talkin' about?"
No, mate. I really haven't.
Greatest goal EVA!
haha I loved that part!
@beastyboy1990 it was against birmingham lol
Legend, my arse!
One of the funniest interviews ever!
NOR...Folk?
This announcer guy does not have a clue. Darren is a legend though at both City and Norfolk i reckon he'll be top goal scorer in the MLS hands down.
I'm a short-arse from Norwich, do you think I'll be treated like a Legend?
Max Rushden brought me here. Anyone else?
OH HUCKERBY
HUCKER HUCKER HUCKERBY

Coming from a big Quakes fan, this whole interview is hilarious to me. What a shame.
Hell if Huck can score at least 20 goals for us and bring us out of the bottom of the table, he'll be a legend around here lol! Probably won't happen but one can dream! Go Quakes!

Norwich in North east England?! Wtf?!
Hucks, really is a legend. American geezer was a bit of a joke tho, surely he could've done a little research before the interview!
What do you want the reporter to say? We've got an over-paid English journeyman joining one of our teams... The media know that won't help sell seats or shirts so of course they're going to hype him.

Don't you mean Roland-inho?
;)

huckerby- wat an english legend?? haha. how many england caps has he got?
The truly sad bit is, 99% of those watching the telecast probably bought the whole thing as gospel.
darren huckerby a legend HAHAHAHAHAHA thats a good one
True..
Best player EVER! =p
He reminds me of Dave Gorman.
This time all news sources should rather trust Wikipedia rather their own. That's why here in the Bay Area, no one watches KRON 4.
legend? come on, this dude is championship league level.
God, I feel so sorry for Huckerby in this interview. He looks so embarrassed.
Can't believe that British football could let such an extraordinary legend go!!!!!

"According to the internett", haha!
Is that even "Manchester" he scores against?!
Looks like Ipswich's kit?
nor-fork lol. Hes an amazing player, but a LEGEND? i didnt know he was this famous
Darren Huckerby - legend? How about Gary Radnich being a legend! Solid!

Ahh Rolandinho was such a good player.
how thick can you get, 'norfork in the north east' 'rolandinho' 'have you got a girlfriend we can help promote' hahha
