Samay is a fucking underdog. If he had no other interests and focused entirely on chess, he would have been in India's Top 10, I'm glad he didn't. We would've missed out on a lot of golden content 😅
I think you are underestimating the exponential learning curve of chess or anything similar. If one gets to an intermediate level fast, it doesn't mean, he will get to the expert level from intermediate in that timeframe or even necessarily reaches it. I personally who knew a lot of intermediate players who go there very fast and could not crack it at the top level, one of them being an IM. You can see a lot of prodigies even who reach a plateau later on in their lives in a field. And being a top 10 in India is huge. That's a disrespect to the ingrained "talent" of a lot of people who could not crack India top 10 and have been trying for a long time.
