could they get through the bottom entrance hole when the mesh tube goes up and stop the other birds from going through the other part of the trap.I suggest putting a door so they can go in but not out.
They are native to the US just not the Pacific Northwest. Thats why there is a Western Grey Squirrels (which is endangered) and an Eastern Grey Squirrel.
Di you find any plans on your trap or did you just go by what you saw on the Tube video? Did the counter balance cause you any problems before you got it right?
OOOOHhhhh... I wanted to see you reach in and catch it == Serious Fun, thanks for sharing! if the experience wasn't traumatic, that squirrel will probably be back :) I have birds coming into my trap over and over... it's borderline annoying.
Great video, got to build one of those traps just for fun. Thanks for sharing. Hmmm smothered fried squirrel in gravy....maybe not just for fun afterall. :)
With you having empty space under part of the trap i think it would be better to remove the door flap and mound a fixed flap on the bottom of the "elevator". That way instead of a bird figuring out it needs to force the flap open it's an open hole but as soon as it steps out the trap resets and a piece of plastic blocks the hole from the other side.
Dear Friend, This gray squirrel is not an introduced species; meaning not indigenous to the United States. The squirrels scientific name is scurrius carolineous, and is indegenous to the US. My spelling may be off a bit.
@TheFutureLooksGrimm They are very destructive to native bird species. The raid nest and destroy eggs and kill chicks of other birds. They are not a native bird and are out of control and need to be managed. We will never be able to get rid of them now but we can do our part to make sure other native birds species have a better chance.
I guess you must be a very clever and extremely nice person, its a pity not to have the luck and pleasure to meet you in real life, im not gay i mean it, keep yourself this way. Greetings from italy.
He would have made a nice BBQ snack ;) I envy you guys in the US being able to trap birds, many of which are pests to your garden. Over here in the UK you can be fined or even sent to prison for catching ANY wild bird or killing one, apart from pigeons and crows I think, as they class as a pest. So stupid given the fact most of the common birds are not endangered and could really use a cull. Bloody pest in the garden when you put your seed in, hence why I have a cat.
Thats a pretty slick little trap!I think I'll try to build one.
Thats a slick little trap. I wonder if it could be upsized to catch larger animals? I like the resetting feature.
@KainanRa Thanks, I have seen the trap in videos like yours but didn't search for a DIY video. Guess I wasn't thinking or never came across one.
@feeish No but there are many well designed cage traps already available for trapping fox.
I like this trap a lot. I think I would have had that squirrel for dinner, though. :)
nice trap best ive ever seen u should make them and sell them
Nice vidéo could you mind the dimensions of the entry of the cage thank you 👍
Is there a door to let the creatures you capture out?
Awesome trap!!! Just wondering how exactly you made that trap or if you might still have the link to that youtube video.
Cheers.

nice job on the trap!
Other update on the the rabbits plz
very nice setup!
@BowToMySkill I dont see why not but they are so small. Feed em to your dog or cat would work though.
Do you have any trap designs for catching foxes?

Your right, that IS cool. I would really like to see how you made it too!
Di you find any plans on your trap or did you just go by what you saw on the Tube video? Did the counter balance cause you any problems before you got it right?
Omg, this is so cool. I have been looking for something to keep squirrels away from my garden. Thank you so much. Have you got a video on how make it?
Is it possible to catch a squirrel in a trap meant for sparrows?
OOOOHhhhh... I wanted to see you reach in and catch it == Serious Fun, thanks for sharing! if the experience wasn't traumatic, that squirrel will probably be back :) I have birds coming into my trap over and over... it's borderline annoying.
Did you watch the video?

my bad I didn't see or hear you say something about the door.P.S I am a big fan
@vandals231 I just did one on the 25th probably do another one in a couple weeks.

What do you plan on doing with the Sparrows? I know people eat Dove.
thanks for showing how that works..that's a good design...
On to a serious question and not a silly troll question, what is the purpose for trapping sparrows? Do you cage them?
they are feral and kill native birds and displace them.
@KayakFisher01 No I set the balance according to the video where I got the idea. I will post a link in the description box.
@SuperJg4567 Thanks

@hippielifeforme In the video it shows me letting it go.
Preciosa jaula, je je je, se te coló la ardilla, saludos.
whats the name of the mesh u use?
@mamaj1013 It will be the first to go because I have the traps and guns to get them first. : ) then its on to the rabbits and canned meats.
@ilovewatchingrawsd The video shows me releasing the squirrel.
@KainanRa I've used a few but the foxes too smart for them
do you eat the birds???
@yohhon Benjamin 397 pellet rifle
Scale it up, I'll have a sea gull trap.
Pretty cool trap, thanks for the vid.
The link is in the description under the video.
Hmm. When I get more lego, I'll try to make this.
Do you have this trap for sale? Thanks.
The trap is called a "drst sparrow trap" about seventy dollars U.S. shipped its the best sparrow trap made.
@youtubsuxfv Not sure if you watched the video or not but i let it go.
@mamaj1013 native wildlife is my plan B in case something ever happens. : )

That squirrel got owned
There is a one way door on there.
haha i thought the squirrelz tail was a porcupine
and i thought that porcupine was raping the squirrel
@TheSunergizer Feral cats are a huge environmental problem. They will be probably become dog food if they come in my yard.
@TheSunergizer Kill them and throw them in the compost. English house sparrows are an invasive species that kill and drive out native birds.
Was this trap ment for "Jack" Sparrow? :D
Did you ever catch a sparrow?
They do make great meat for stew
squirrel, rabbit same thing.
