  • If you own a toy that is too loud for your taste, you can fix that easily. I show you how.
The key is to an about 100 ohms resistor in series with the speaker.

They're all too loud. Children's ears are brand new, but toy makers want their toy to be louder than competitors so the child picks theirs. 20 years ago when my kids were babies, every toy had surgery to pack the speaker with cotton balls. LOL!

toys should have volume control on them (and i mean a potentiometer on the bottom not a lo/hi switch)

@@luigikoopa8771 That little extra feature will just add to the cost of a toy that a child will grow out of in a couple of years anyway. Parents just have to put cotton balls over the speaker and cover the speaker grill with tape from the inside. That will muffle it.

Solder on a potentiometer and adjust the volume by twisting the dial. Keep in mind not all toy speakers use the same voltage. So dont instantly full blast the volume for the speaker. You might have to upgrade the speaker to a higher voltage one for louder volumes, cause those little Chinese speakers in toys will quite literally blow up in smoke if voltage is too high. there's a tone of vids on RUclips of ppl blowing up those speakers lol.

:D Right! I have also tried that myself, but I was not happy with the result. Also, with my method you will benefit a noticeable battery life extension.

I have opposite issue. I have toy laptop speaker whose volume has been 90% decreased. What should i do ?

It is very likely that the speaker has damaged (e.g got dirt in it), you can replace it with a similar size one. (It still can be a transistor failure, but is it not straight forward to fix that, if it is fixable at all.)
