- The 2023 CRV redesign has followed the the style of the 2022 Civic wipers, more tucked down under the hood.
This gives a more streamlined look and makes it more aerodynamic, with less wind resistance overall.
But you need to put your CRV into maintenance mode to fully stand your wiper blades on end.
Here I show you how to do this.

Thanks for making this helpful video! I was confused by my Honda crv spray system and this explained why. I think I’ll still take it to the dealer to double check since it doesn’t seem the spray is effective at cleaning.
Thank you so much Cathy, I was getting frustrated this morning trying to change my wiper blades and didn’t know about maintenance mode. Appreciate the video.
You are so welcome
Was it difficult to change the blades compared with older CRV's ?
I'm glad that you mentioned how the new windshield fluid hoses are setup and how it works compared to the older ones. I just got them fixed on a brand new cr-v because they were bad from factory due to a slit, and while I knew it was properly done, this removes any doubt. Much different flow compared to the Honda Civic where there's so much spray you can get the cars next to you (and maybe even yourself while driving) lol.
Thanks so much! Yes they are completely different. And yes, I've managed to spray myself in my civic with the window open! Once the initial kinks get sorted out with these new ones, I think it will be a good improvement.
Thank you for your video. This explained exactly what I needed to know.
Glad it was helpful!
Looks like I just missed the updated positioning of the windshield wiper fluid jets by a year... I have a 2022 HONDA CR-V SE, and the jets still shoot from the bottom of the windshield...
Fantastic! thank you! I was trying to clean under the wipers.
Glad I could help!
I own this car and the windshield wiper systems is awful. The washer fluid never gets onto the top half of the window and it does not save fluid, it wastes it. I never had to refill the washer fluid ahead of an oil change. In 3000 miles I have used a whole gallon of washer fluid. This is by far the worst thing I have ever seen Honda do. I have owned 15 Honda's in the past 40 years. Terrible system.
It sounds like your nozzles are faulty and you need your local dealer to have a look at them. They should cover the length of the wiper well and clean your windows properly. It takes a little getting used to, seeing so little spray at first. But when they are working they way they are designed, you should not have these issues.
Thank you. @@cathyatterracehonda9491 I'm calling my dealer for an appointment.
I agree with your comment 100%. The new system will also freeze with winter wiper fluid.old system worked why change it.
Agreed and it only sprays on the up sweep. I'm very disappointed with this setup.
Mine works GREAT!
Appreciate the tips. I have tried this method as you have suggested so that I can lift the wipers on my 2024 CRV hybrid. Nothing happens within the 10 seconds. Have I missed a step or a setting on the instrument panel screen?
I'm not sure. You need to have the vehicle running, and then shut it off. Then lift the wiper arm. Is that what you're doing?
Me too! Any word on how to fix it?
Great tip. Thank you.
Does your passenger side wiper shoot any water? I only get a dribble from my drivers side. How about yours?
it does although it's harder to see as it sprays right in front of the wiper. It should work as well as the driver's side. So I would take it to your local dealer and see about replacing it if it's faulty.
Thank you so much. Very helpful 😊
You're very welcome!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
The new wiper system for 2024 doesn’t clean as well. Spray distance doesn’t cover the top part of the windshield. Such a disappointment! Thank you nevertheless, for the helpful information!
If it is not cleaning the window properly for good visability, go and see your local dealer. The nozzle may need adjusting or could be faulty and need replacing.
Does the postion of nozzle affect using aftermarket wiper blades?
I'm not sure, but I would think it might.
Yes it does. That way most people who aren't handy will be forced to go to the Honda dealer and pay $100 to get wiper blades replaced. Some aftermarket blades can be modified but not all.
Very helpful
Glad to hear that
They copied G.M. Now even with winter wiper fluid they freeze. I had no problem with the old system
You better be careful you don't start your car while the blades are up and away from the windshield. You'll ruin your hood when the blades go down. VERY POOR DESIGN!
The blades will not move while you have it in maintenance mode. You can start your vehicle and the blades will stay in position until you hit the wiper arm up. Then they will move back down to resting position.
