@@Cehesebrugre I'm pretty sure he knows that, which is why he's not allowing himself to do that. It makes it harder when you can't build a lot in your Cyclops and can't use it as a secondary base
I'm sure someone must have said it, but use the "Air Bladder" people. DON'T underestimate it. It is one of the best items in the early game. Make use of it. It's both faster than the seaglide, and also a refillable emergency oxygen supply. It's also better than just carrying around bladder fish.

6:22 although rare. Floaters can spawn in before the rock does. Resulting in the floaters floating up to the surface and the newly spawned rock sink down to the bottom
Here is my idea to make subnautica harder with some of your rules too but with less of the ones that would at most be a nuisance 1. No oxygen tank 2. No rebreather 3. No seamoth 4. No seaglide 5. No lockers at all 6. No battery recharge stations 7. No ion battery's 8. No eating or drinking unless your food and water bar are at 25 or under 9. No using the architect portals 10. Fully explore and look at every part of subnautica map that has anything significant
Does a base actually need multipurpose rooms for the purpose of finishing a story? If our only source of power is external solar panels, then why not just keep bases tubular? I know he said one of the rules is to hatch everything, but collecting the eggs in the first place is the challenge, not the arbitrary waiting for the hatch.

This actually highlights a lot of the issues I have with Deathrun - so many changes make the game less efficient but not harder. Respectfully, I feel the same about a lot of these rules, the first two being an especially strong example
When I build my main base I put basically everything I need into the first room I make and then expand it out from there, but then again I usually build my base before getting a cyclops
I remember once, back when i was like 15 and played on switch, i was really jealous of pc players when i found out about all the subnautica mods like return of the ancients, so i did a playthrough where at the start, i went into creative, teleported thousands of meters in the air, and spawned in a shit ton of sea dragons, ghost leviantans, and the big crabs (for some reason). Because the command spawns them all in at the same spot, they'd basically explode away from each other when they spawned, which made them pretty evenly distributed across the map. Lagged like crazy, but it still remains one of my favorite subnautica memories.

Subnautica should have a hard achievement, also known as “complete data” scan every scannable flora, fauna, blueprint, build, etc. because an achievement for completing your PDA
It's honestly not that bad, go straight to the island get growbeds and have marble melons. Build a cyclops plot a growbed inside and have infinite food on the go to replenish food and water to max at any point in time without needing water bottles, I'd say vegetarian is the easiest way to play in the game honestly
Rule 1-8 bro, that's just how I play the game. Rule 9 and 10, okay, now we are taling. Rule 11 and 12, lolno. Rule 13-17 yeah whatever. Rule 18, I'm down with this. Rule19, I still don't understand why anyone would bother killing anything but prey fish. Literally spending time and effort achieving nothing. Rule 20. I'm down with that. Verdict. Rule 9-12 are challenge rules, every other rule appear to only exist as minor inconveniences for people that have played the game several times over.
Well when a crash fish comes up, killing that before it explodes is a great idea, killing the ghost leviathan in the Lost River makes looting MUCH easier, killing reaper makes searching crash zone easier, killing crabsquids is nice, killing lava leeches is also good if you like having power, bleeders are also a good idea to kill, warpers (if you consider it killing) knifing then is a good idea so they don't teleport you outside your vehicle every 3 seconds. You're pretty much achieving a LOT from killing other things from prey fish, like just about every predator in the game
Shit man I didn't think someone could make subnautica so enjoyable and so difficult at the same time. Take my subscription, your personality is enjoyable for me to feed upon.
The fact that you found the seaglide so much faster than me,who had a oxygen tank, scanner, knife and other things hurts my soul, cuz i searched for it so much😭😭
I'm 30 seconds into the video and feel the need to explain: the game was *supposed* to be easy. The entire point is not how difficult the game is and how much things kill you, but how the game makes you *feel*. I saw a video once that explained this really well: in zombie survival horror games, after you die a couple of times, you stop being afraid of the zombies in the game. They no longer are scary to you, because you've died and experienced the worst they can do to you already. Subnautica is amazing at making you feel a certain kind of fear that comes from not knowing what the worst is. This is why the game is easy, because for all their terrifying looks, size and sounds, even the reaper leviathans don't kill you in one hit. It was intentional, so as to prolong the fear you experience from seeing one of these creatures, and the rush of adrenaline you get at the chase and the relief you feel at escaping. It's understandable to want the game to be harder, but just remember that the intended experience was not actual difficulty, the intended experience was to make the game feel scary
So for me it would be: #2 -> Base has to be in Crash Zone #9 -> No oxygen tank #10 -> No rebreather #12 -> No storage units #13 -> No MK3 modules #14 -> No repairing the Aurora I normally do or don't do the rest of the rules anyways in a normal playthrough
I dont know what the item is called, but if you activate it, you get shot up to the Surface. You can also "recharge" it with oxigen, and use the oxigen if you dont want to swim up
I did not just hear "no stasis rifle, repulsion cannon or defensive modules" as a challenge rule. I cant remember a single time i actually used any of these, apart from when i was bullying reefbacks with the seamoth perimeter defense. An ACTUAL challange, would be to instead ban the silence mode on the cyclops.
just pointing out that the solar panels only generate energy during the day, and all those lights consume energy during the night as well, so I'm expecting a "0 Power" incident eventually
Chat i have severe thalassophobia to thw point where i closed the game when it turned night time and i was in the kelp forest. should i try to beat the game for the first time?
having your base in the crash zone actually ruins the purpose of the no beacons rule. The aurora is easy to spot and it makes the base too easy to find. I'd personally suggest building the base in either the jellyshroom caves or the crag field. Jellyshroom cave entrances are hard to find especially without beacons, and the crag field is vast and pretty barren, but with enough terrain to make it hard to spot your base through it.
