- Part 3 of a series of 'think-aloud' sessions, designed to capture 'reflections-in-action' as I'm building modular synthesis patches on a variety of systems. This video forms part of a research project aimed at analysing the practice of modular synthesis patching, contextualising my compositional approach with theories of material engagement, and Gilbert Simondon's philosophy of technology. In particular, I am interested in the process of 'concretisation' that occurs in the development of a modular synthesis patch, and the way in which musical intentions, and human and material agency co-evolve with a machine that grows in complexity and interconnectedness throughout a patching session.
Apologies for the filming angle - I never realised how much I tweaked with my left hand, and some extra height/downward angle would have shown the bottom boat more clearly. Also, at the end of the video I mention I might continue the video and the patch. I've decided not to. Even though these two sources are just the beginning of what could be a larger patch, I think the patching techniques and discussions here are more than enough to get a flavour for how I develop work on this system.
Gorgeous rig... awesome tones !
Such an enjoyably interesting timeral patch. thanks
cheers :-)
Great work

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🤩
super interesting. keep doing em
thanks :-) this is the end of this current run, as it's for a particular project - but I'm glad they're useful, I think I'll put more up every now and again.. I guess the thing is, to really capture the twists and turns of a more complex patch, my process takes muuuch longer than one hour :-)
i enjoy this
This sounds awesome! Love the case too who is it from?
Thanks. Amalgamod
