the Romanian side of the bridge was renovated years ago, the Bulgarian side is still not renovated :)

Is it possible to cross those borders only with your ID card or you need passport ?

If u EU citizens I think you can cross the border with ID

@@balkansallaroundThank you for your answer. But what I read is only 1 direct train per day from București to Ruse. And only 1 direct train back with an interval of 30 minutes. I'll probably have to skip the visit to Bulgaria.

Pegasus bus line operates those shuttles.
