I personally believe the mannequin hallway would contain obstacles of ALL of the power you unlocked, such as spike pit, cameras, barriers, etc...

Thinking about it now, besides Bearly Buried (which didn't even have a portal hallway we were kinda just thrown into it) and the fact that we don't know what the 2 new powers we'll be getting are, Doug having flashbacks is as much of an obstacle to remind him how far he's come and that he's almost at the end.
