Thanks for doing a flip-through! ❤ I still haven't been able to look through this art curriculum because of college homework. Unfortunately, my desire for collecting art books has not decreased 😔
Thank you so much for this flip through! My son is 8 years old currently. I was very interested in this curriculum, but felt he maybe wasn't quite ready for some of it. This confirmed that for me, but it also showed me that he'll be ready soon.
You are so welcome! That's one of the very helpful features of flip-throughs for me, too--it's so difficult to judge the actual challenge level of a curriculum until you can really see the inside of it. Once you see the inside and see what the projects/assignments are like, it's so much easier!
;) I mean, it's not everyone who appreciates all those nerdy homeschool convos...glad that this give us an outlet to nerd out about curriculum and stuff that 'normal people' wouldn't care about. :P
Hi! Thanks so much for sharing. Just a quick question - are the projects mainly done in the artist journal? The journal almost looks too “easy” and “full-in-the-blank.” Or is the journal PLUS a recommended project using other materials?
I hadn't seen this before but now I'm thinking about using it. Masterbooks isn't usually on my radar... you didn't mention any religious content. Is it heavy on that? Do you think it could be adapted down by using just some of the first lessons on each topic? I've got a 1st-2nd grader who is showing a lot of artistic promise. I've been trying this year to intro some of the concepts of the basic elements of art and principles of design but it's been pretty haphazard. I like the idea of this resource, and I liked the practice pages you showed - drawing lines, coloring, etc.
There definitely are Bible verses on some pages but I didn't specifically notice much in the way of Christian connections in the text. I would assume that there probably are some, but mainly it seemed pretty focused on the art elements. I'm pretty sure they have free sample pages on their website if you want a closer look. I don't think this would be out of reach for a 2nd grader who was interested in art and had some natural talent for it.
I’ve had this art curriculum for a couple years now, but just haven’t used it b/c I’m afraid it will be collecting a bunch of art materials I don’t have on hand 😂
I think you should probably look at the projects included and give it a chance, I didn't see notice much in the way of spectacularly uncommon and specific art supplies. My sister who IS in art school has all sorts of very specialized supplies...this seemed more like paint, paper, pencils...I know they had clay, which is a little less common (for example, I don't have any clay on hand...haha!)
The art journal, as shown, has many pages for specific assignments. "Where there's a will, there's a way," of course, so you can always adapt, but it is definitely intended to be used with the art journal.
Is there anything consumable in the text book? Just wondering if buying the text one time for use with multiple kids will work. I know each child will need a journal.
Exactly the video I was looking for! Thanks so much for your flip-through ❤

Not the worst thing to collect!
Thanks Rachel for sharing! Always trying to find new things for art. God bless ❤
Thanks for watching!

It is the journal PLUS actual art projects. It is still pretty basic, not an in-depth art course.

Can you do this art curriculum without art journal?

@@SevenInAll thank you so much for answering me 😍

The textbook does not have any consumables, it can be used with multiple kids or used multiple times--only the journal is consumable. :)
