I agree about the new spines. The small font is not appealing to me at all. I’m glad I went with the other cover for this one as well. You’re 💯 right about the updated cover art not being as good as the original art. Some of the later artwork in the Silver Age X-Men run was absolutely incredible and felt more like Bronze Age quality art. It’s definitely better than the modern comic book art we’re seeing nowadays. that DM cover you mentioned you prefer was definitely a classic and already great, totally agree. I also prefer the modernized covers but only if done well like the fantastic four. Also wish they would standardize their format like the Silver age. ToC, page numbers, issues...who makes these decisions they're just bad ideas to drop them.
New spines look great in my opinion. As long as you have all the same ones. I sold my Fantastic Four Vol. 1 and bought it again so that the spine would match Vol. 2,3 and 4. I did the same thing with Spider-Man Vol. 2 to have it match with Vol. 3 and 5. And also Vol. 1 will match when it’ll release this summer. These spines look amazing together
Thanks for the overview - receiving my copy tomorrow. I always find reading the readers mail pages fascinating ; today I read a letter in vol 1 from a reader saying he was 18 - how odd to think that same person is now 75 years old ( if still alive ) !
@@djsuth7727 the reason I asked is because vol 1 out stock and sense vol 2 just came out I thought it’ll be out stock pretty quick to. I got vol 1 just wanna make sure if it’s the right call to get in now and not wait later.

I love the new spines only because that's all I have. If I had some old spines I'd be pissed. But they look really good all together

I can get that if you have them all they do look good together, but the small font really bothers me.

The small font size of the spines is ridiculous and insulting.
