    Let's talk about one of the more blatant ripoffs of Ren & Stimpy, by a network that wanted to go as far away from gross as possible.

    Anti-canine propaganda? What about anti-feline propaganda? How many evil cat characters can you think of? You have Tom from _Tom and Jerry_, Sylvester from _Loony Tunes_, Pete from various Disney cartoons, Lucifer from _Cinderella_, the two Siamese cats from _Lady and the Tramp_, Evil the Cat from _Earthyworm Jim_, Meoth from Pokémon, Cat Man Do from _The Powerpuff Girls_, Azrael from _The Smurfs_, M.A.D. Cat from _Inspector Gadget_, the evil cats from _An American Tail_, Katz from _Courage the Cowardly Dog_, and so on. How many heroic cat characters can you name?

      I can think of cat characters that aren't evil
      Sargent Tibbs from 101 Dalmatians
      Oliver from Oliver and company
      Cat from cat dog
      Puar and Corin from dragonball
      Garfield, Ariel from Garfield
      Custard from strawberry shortcake (yeah I'm a 15 year old boy who enjoys that show sue me!!!!)
      Rita from animaniacs
      Quagmire's cat from a select few family guy episodes
      Gary from spongebob (he's to them what Cookie is to me I'm counting it!)
      Proud heart from Care Bears (yeah I enjoy that too if you judge me I don't care oh shit I don't mean it that way Care Bears you don't need to show up just joking I'm not delusional)
      Kitty from South Park
      That cat from that show where a group of kids with a ghost and a ghost cat solve mysteries
      Mufasa, Simba, Kiara, Cuvu, Nala, and Sarabi from the lion king series
      Alex, Alex's parents, that Tiger guy and that tiger girl from the Madagascar
      Tigress from Kung fu panda
      Cat from word world (yes I still watch that too take it to court!)
      The panther from jungle book
      O-Mally and all the other cats from the aristocats
      Mr pettybone and Figaro from Mickey Mouse clubhouse (yeah I watch that too so what!?!)
      Snowbell from Stuart little (the third movie was a cartoon so he counts)
      The list goes on and on like a broken record!

      Dr Shaym Tom was only really evil 50% of the time, otherwise just kind of a jerk. Plus, Jerry starts the fight more often than not, though there have been cartoons when Jerry gets his comeuppance in the end.
      Same thing with Sylvester, although he doesn't have the same excuse as Tom considering that Tweety almost never starts the fight to begin with.

    • @VGamingJunkieVT
      @VGamingJunkieVT 7 лет назад +31

      Initially, Cosmo and Wanda were portrayed as about equally stupid. Then it changed into Cosmo being the stupid fun one and Wanda being the smart boring lecture. Because you know, we don't have enough of those already.

    • @D_YellowMadness
      @D_YellowMadness 7 лет назад +16

      I never liked Cosmo & Wanda because they'd blame Timmy for making overly literal wishes but, when he worded his wishes better, they'd screw him (& other people) over anyway.
      In one episode, he decides to be a genocidal piece of shit by saying "I wish I was in a world without girls" so you'd think they'd teleport him to a world without girls because of his phrasing but, because he'd actually deserve to suffer this time, they give him exactly what he wanted instead.
      Random side note: You know what would be super dark? An episode where Timmy wishes for a friend (I'll call him Tad) to help him with a competition but Timmy eventually loses interest. Tad keeps training for the competition alone but feels rejected. During the competition, Timmy realizes Tad is upset so he shows up at the last minute to support him. Tad sees him & smiles but, the moment the competition starts, he disappears because magic in competitions is against the rules. It'd be kinda like that Bunny episode of The Powerpuff Girls that makes you wonder how many kids cried.

    If all goes well, I'll be submitting my pilot to CN next year! The plot is still conceptual, forgive me. But it follows after a huge war broke out in space, and in order to protect his newborn prince, the King of planet Rizola must send him to another planet for safekeeping. The King recruits the best men from his army to take on the mission of protecting the prince, "Junior". Skipping over some spoilers, all 705 alien soldiers and Junior are given camouflage cloaks to disguise themselves as the closest lookalikes to their own species. Humans.
    The leader of the mission, who Junior calls "Number One Dad", works alongside the other individual soldiers (Dads) to protect Junior from a fake Dad named Bedragare. Bedragare seemingly wants to take the place as "Number One Dad", but this seems to change to something more sinister.
    Onto Junior's life, Junior has no idea that he's any different from the other kids at his school, he just thinks that he's got a whole bunch of dads. He's eleven now and starting to drift away from his home life and into his social life, which causes tension in the dads.
    I don't want to spoil anymore, so keep a watch out for the pilot!

    It's an extremely common misconception, but off model is NOT the same thing as dynamic, wild expressions. Being off model means e.g. when the proportions seem off in one particular scene or when characters magically grow an additional finger. Ren and Stimpy is on model most of the time because the expressions are supposed to be dynamic. If you look at the storyboards you'll see that.

      I watched Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, and its main focus was on the conflict between the two characters and the situations they got themselves in, not gross out humour. While you could make the argument that it didn`t have good gross out humour (although that type of humour wasn`t common in the show), it certainly wasn`t trying to be a Ren and Stimpy rip off.

    Disney DID know how to do slapstick correctly at that time! Just look at the opening scene of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” from 1987 along with multiple other scenes in the movie: the hilarious piano duet between Donald and Daffy, short as it is, that’s slapstick done RIGHT! Not to mention Eddie’s “romp” through Toontown! And that’s not even saying anything about the hilarious satirical slapstick throughout the older Donald and Goofy cartoons from the ‘40’s and ‘50’s! So why the new crop of Disney animators felt they had to dumb down their humor for a TV audience is beyond me!

    It's funny because when Fanboy and Chum Chum did this bit it was way better, funnier, and it made more sense. In the episode, “Brain Drain” Fanboy loses his brain and he actually acts brain dead which forced Chum Chum to be the smart one and find his brain. Although it's hard to tell which one of them is more intelligent since like Swaysway and Buhdeuce they're pretty interchangeable. CatDog did the hurting each other by hurting the parts of their bodies bit a lot better too in the episode, “Teeth For Two.” Apparently since they’re conjoined twins whenever one of them hurt their teeth or didn’t brush it would affect the other one’s teeth and vice versa. That was also funnier since we see Cat and Dog trying to truth each other by messing with their teeth and making the other one uncomfortable and in pain. Hell, Fanboy and Chum Chum also did that bit better in the episode, “Pick a Nose” where Fanboy and Chum Chum swapped noses and could smell what the other one was smelling. It’s sad when subpar Nickelodeon shows do those passe bits better than Disney.

    I think that after all these years we need to say this.
    Michael Eisner ruined Disney. He started the tradition of treating movies like Cashcows and milking them through continuations which led to stupid sequels and eventually the live action remakes
    He mentored Bob Iger who currently could be voted as the worst major company CEO there is
    He is the one that inserted the "we aren't here to make art or a statement , we're here to make money" ideology
    And he's the one who started making everything safe, sanitized and family friendly. The more risky movies you mentioned was Katzenberg's. And he kept taking risks even later

    The theme song to this was just stock banjo and guitar riffs.
    Ren and Stimpy's is awesome with bongos and shit, and it's super catchy.
    Also, Cow and Chicken isn't a ripoff, it's inspired by Ren and Stimpy because David Feiss worked on it or something and so that carried over to Cow and Chicken.

    Is it bad that I hate tom and jerry BECAUSE of the impact? I don't laugh, I cringe. I mean, I yawn at this, but I didn't like tom and jerry, either. Pretty much the only show like this I liked were the roadrunner and coyote shorts... idk, guess I'm weird.

      I mean, you do you. It is a little weird that Tom and Jerry is too much, since the characters are always okay in the next scene. Ren and Stimpy, on the other hand, makes my stomach churn. Every frame is unnatural and repulsive to me.

      TriforceWisdom64 That is why I don't watch ten and stimpy.

    7:29 Well Disney animation is famous for their 'interesting' stills.
    Also no mention of how they ripped off the piano scene from Tom and Jerry?

    Well, if you want to know some cartoon dogs that aren't stupid:
    Ren, from "Ren & Stimpy" (He's at least smarter than Stimpy)
    Brian, from early "Family Guy" (Sure, in the later seasons he kind of turned into a sociopathic liar, but in the early seasons he was genuinely smart)

    Speaking of Cow and Chicken, what are your thoughts on its counterpart "I Am Weasel"?

    • @imadmohamed841
      @imadmohamed841 7 лет назад +6

      ironmaster64 It Even lasted longer than Cow and Chicken, and Was also one of the few Cartoon Cartoons to actually have a series finale. The majority of the shows like Dexters Lab, Johnny Bravo etc. Got cancelled without a proper ending.

      ironmaster64 Didn't that air years after the show Was over? I thought it Was more of an anniversary special than a series finale.

      Imad Mohamed yeah I think was more of that but I like to think it's both (Plus it probed that cartoon network gave a damn about johnny )

    the way this plot could of been better if they slowly went insane or just more stupid slowly and they had to get them better before they went brain dead it isnt oscar worthy but compared to this show its the best thing in the history of animation.

    Dear god, why does this exist?
    I mean, I get the appeal behind Ren & Stimpy (even if it's not my thing), but the rip-offs are just so boring that I forget these even exist.
    Then again, I have never seen these shows before, since they never aired in Japan.

    That appears to be directly ripped off from the Tom & Jerry episode "Heavenly Puss."
    But I suppose it ended up being kinda inverted, so, semi-originality?

    • @carlbloke8797
      @carlbloke8797 7 лет назад +1

      Doc von Schmeltwick too bad they made an episode where they ripped off that episode anyway so they just ruined whatever originality they had

      Oh God XD. Well that's a failure on all accounts. At least they ripped off one of the more tension-filled ones.

    ways this coulda been done better: 1) "dirty brains", since the brains were dirty, putting them back in leads to" dirty" thoughts, like stealing or breaking objects. Could still use the cleaning gag as well and comes with a built in moral. 2) body switch. Self explanatory. 3) Improved slapstick. Make the episode a build up where since the brains aren't inside them they don't feel anything, then at the end when they are returned, have all that pain hit at once with intense reactions.

  • @christophermiley2591

    Love when they mix the cleaning chemicals together and teach kids how to make mustard gas (if the kids ever put ammonia and bleach together). Makes me think of a King of the Hill episode when Peggy (an atrocity favorite) writes an article for the newspaper recommending those two things together as a great cleaning solution.
