These 2 look so in the moment in this scene. I mean its a time where life has not become a race. Nobody is trying to get ahead of anyone, nobody is worried about their virtual images, nobody worried about likes or followers. These 2 look teenegers. Probably they would parted their ways after some time. But right in this moment they were actually living. Not expecting a lot from life. I totally agree with you. I feel lucky that I was at least a little kid when internet and cell phones didn't exist It was a much better time. I miss those days !
The fact that you are missing a time you didn't even live means that you are safe from the worst part of the "social generation" people. Keep on looking for REAL RELATIONSHIPS, keep on expecting REAL MEETINGS with people. Social media, messages, hide the REAL PART of the people, the eyes, the breath, the body language... Do always ask for a date, don't be shy, it's your right, don't keep on texting somebody for months, it's not fair talking behind a screen avoiding showing ourselves for what we really are: HUMAN BEINGS. Let's turn the example of this video into reality: a glance, a smile, a dance... Let's claim this, 'cause this is our REAL nature, not the screens. Take care!! :)
When I listen to almost all of The Midnight songs, they make me realize how many things in my life that have been left as memories. They remind me how sad or depressed I am, but to smile within my pain and accept all and face the rest of the future :)

Cell phones did exist but they were extremely expensive and were very bulky, usually only lasting half an hour. What you pay for an iphone X today is probably 20% of what the original cell phones cost which only included talking capabilities. I'm sure what he's getting at is the era of smartphones.
Frank Whaley was pretty decent looking guy but he did a blunder to his career by doing more serious roles, he should've swallowed his pride and done more rom coms instead. Action/Thriller movies weren't exactly his forte, he was too boyish looking for that and he wasn't willing to put on any muscle mass or facial hair to get those kind of roles. Frank Whaley was tailor made for rom coms.

This has brought me to absolute tears. Memories of my youth in the 80s. The best times of our lives. This music and The Midnight are phenomenal .... you need to absolutely EXPLODE on the music scene. I have been waiting for music like this MY WHOLE LIFE !!!!! Thank God l found you! Huge hello from Melbourne, Australia!
@@pizzapizza3548 I was born in '71 .... so the 80s were my teenage years (same age as the people in this clip). There will never be a time like the 80s, ever...... no social media then that causes such a false connection with people and why people feel so lost and lonely now ... many full of inner rage, some consumed by depression and isolation, millions of others lost in the ocean of 'nothingness'. You had to really work to really achieve something. Nothing was 'instant' .... everything required persistence, commitment, courage and a huge sense of responsibility ..... which gave everything you did a profound sense of value. We were connected back then, genuinely. That was my experience .... things were magical, hopeful, exciting, heart-centred, simple, polite, respectful .... and so so profound for our souls. And this is why everyone yearns to go back to that era (if they lived during those times like i did) before the disease of 'social media' came along .... and made us all live in this sad, false, unfeeling reality ... where millions of people are chasing something outside of their selves .... to fill the void. Everyone lives behind a keyboard and screen now. Its sad. And as humans, we become sicker and sicker because of it. This music and video clip moves people because it taps into the true essence of who we truly are as people. The yearning for deep, powerful, undying, loyal, symbiotic connection to people ... and the ability to experience trust, empathy, physical touch, feelings, honesty, love, fulfilment, hope ..... and thus profound, profound soul growth and advancement in this world in the truest sense of the word. People back in the 80s felt like they were enough. Now, the current generation feels like they are not enough, and so require influencers and everything and anything outside of themselves to build an identity .... when in reality they dont realise it is an inside job ... and they are so far, far, far away from ever achieving that. When people do the deep inner work they are called to do in this lifetime, then they will experience the emotions and feeling and moment in time, that is depicted in this music and in this clip.
@@avishkarsingh744 Agree, it was an incredible era. It cannot ever be repeated. Nice song by a favorite group of mine, The Midnite. Jennifer Connelly was the most beautiful woman that has ever appeared on a movie screen. When I first saw her, I sat mesmerized and uttered the word "WOW", instinctively! Now I find the phrase "Jennifer Connelly WOW" all over the internet!
I was in love with Jennifer Connelly when I was little, as soon as I watched the Labyrinth. Now I'm 40 years old and I think I still am. I see her and it hurts somewhere inside.
I'm glad it' s back. This video is the main reason why I got to know about "The Midnight," and I never thanked you for that, so... thank you so much ❤ Your edits are great! :)
This made tear-nostalgic for my childhood in the 90s and how I pictured my life to be when I grew up while watching films like this one, so different and way better than it turned out so far....
The lights closing at the end leaves behind this bittersweet after taste. It's a nice touch. And it's in line with the band's ideology of "mono no aware" which is Japanese for, the sad beauty of seeing time pass.

The 80’s I didn’t experience but I can tell you the 90’s was the best decade to be a kid. Toys were still a thing, we still played outside all the time, and the only handheld devices we ever used we’re our gameboys. I imagine the 80’s must’ve been a great decade to grow up in too, but I’m really grateful to have experienced the 90’s.

If you lived in the 80s and 90s you know it wasn’t like this video. We had troubles and hardships like we all do now. HOWEVER, it was much different. We had ways and most importantly, people to help us through these times. we would do crazy things to blow steam off with our friends and we wouldn’t get in trouble. I don’t know why people don’t do that anymore. Why do we just sit around and complain. Back then we would try to escape the world. This is what is so magical about this video. The effort to escape with someone who understands you.

In my opinion this music video in way better than the movie itself. It's like this movie was created to be a video for this amazing song. It's incredibly well put together. Thanks for this!
You ain't the only one homie, right here with you. This song is fire. The synth, the lyrics, the feel... all hit 100. But that guitar riff... that's what gets to me. Music ain't like that anymore. Smh straight fire my dude. And the vid is tight too. Damn Jennifer was gorgeous
Music and type of movie reminds me back to a time of a careless childhood! I got goosebumps everytime and cant get enough! Its an all time favorit! Love it!
Ahhhh - the 80's. A decade where literally anything went and anything was possible. The films were awesome and the birth of blockbuster action hero movies as we know them, were born. Romantic comedies were crazy . Music was absolutely stellar and the fashion was questionable :) Early 80's, I was in my early 20's and in the prime of my life in a lot of ways. Seems like a very distant memory now. Seeing films from that time period where there were no mobile phones seems so crazy. No internet and I dunno, there just seemed to be a different vibe back then. What the hell happened?
Wish we could go back to where we had some technology to make life easier where it mattered but not so much tech to where it took over our lives and where you actually had to physically meet people face to face and find pleasure in the simpler things. You had to actually make the effort and take the time to call or write somebody. It was simpler and pure in all the right ways without making life too inconvenient or uncomfortable
And too bad you must not know anything about the 80s because this movie came out in 1991. Just look at the hair dude. Nothing 80s about this whatsoever
@@jsweetsgetsfitjoeysweet330 My dude, he was talking about the music IN CONJUNCTION with the video. The music clearly has an 80's feel to it. While yes, the movie came out in 91, the "feel" of it was more in line with the 80's. The music just accentuates that homie
Blazing Saddle You ask what happened? It’s very simple and one word... the INTERNET. May god go back and undo the creation of the internet for mankind’s sake

I totally agree with you.
I feel lucky that I was at least a little kid when internet and cell phones didn't exist
It was a much better time.
Take care!! :)

If you're Russian or someone from Eastern Europe, 80s and early 90s isn't exactly the nicest times to be around.
When I listen to almost all of The Midnight songs, they make me realize how many things in my life that have been left as memories. They remind me how sad or depressed I am, but to smile within my pain and accept all and face the rest of the future :)
One day it is gonna be all great and you just smile within your heart. After the dark comes the sun eventually. It is always like this!
I feel that, their vids make me feel longing for a time that will never come again. Growing up in that Era was the best part of my life.

It should make you nostalgic for the 90s since this movie came out in mid 1991

As much as I love Jennifer, Frank Whaley deserves credit for making this special too.
Yup ,true
kinda surprise Paul bethany had crush on her for long time....
The only thing he does Is obstruct my view......
He's 56 now. Makes me feel well old.

Totally, with you. Big ups from Sydney, Australia!
Music those days was the best!
@@avishkarsingh744 Agree, it was an incredible era. It cannot ever be repeated. You can still find amazing music these days from wonderful bands who are not hyped in the mainstream, bands like 'The Midnight', 'Night Traveler', 'The Paper Kites' etc. You just have to look for it.

Love it!
Music that isn't burdened by today's apathy. Refreshing and wonderful.
What the hell happened?
technology happened.
The nostalgia that this video is giving me is bringing me to tears. Mixed emotions.. regret combined with a sense of contentmnt for having lived the time.. just too much to contain.

I was born in 81, feel the exact same way.
I wish we could stay young forever
That would really be so awesome we could also live forever and there was no death. I don't really see the connection between the song and this video I can see where there's relation young guy young girl in love skating around in the Target store of course these are scenes from the movie career opportunities. When I first heard this song and picture to video in my mind this is not exactly what I pictured. I pictured two young people on the road on a bus in a plane whatever just leaving their past behind.
Maybe we can? See you in the next life!
