The stock Pioneers are excellent. I spent $60 on an upgrade and end up reinstalling the old ones. Maybe I screwed up the install but as far as I could tell they worked fine they just didn't sound as good as the stock speakers. So I got some 1/4" sheet metal screws and replaced the stock speakers easily.

I found that #12-24 machine screws fit perfectly in place of the rivets. I did not need to widen holes with the drill.

I find it bizarre that Toyota would rivet in speakers on a car that is marketed and sold as a "highly customizable" vehicle.
If you can't drill out a rivet you shouldn't be "customizing". Don't be a snowflake!

Could have taken the terminals out of the orignal harness clip and then connect to speaker. No cutting necessary.
