In a candid conversation with TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan admits that although a lot of film artists managed to enter the political arena, he would still be uncomfortable in that field. Bachchan also says that as artists, they are more concerned with their own creative work and hence prefer to be on the right side.
Bachchan also speaks about the pain he went through when his name was dragged into the Bofors scandal. He notes that this has encouraged him to maintain a dignified silence on several issues. On a lighter note, Bachchan says that he would like to be a journalist, as this would allo him to ask sharp and hard-hitting questions, instead of having to face them.

An excellent Rendezvous with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan sir. Whatever his Fallouts with Gandhi Family or Amar Singh. In life we move through various phases sometimes ups and sometimes downs. We all must respect that. But Bachchan sir is an inspiration for lakhs of Indians.

I've never been a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan evading a confrontation rather than putting a brave front to it, and in process gaining false sympathy by getting down his knees even before a gun is pointed at him. But I must admit, in this one-on-one session, despite being diplomatic and not raking up a pandora of worms, he offers his two cents with an enviable clarity of thought. He's neither shying away from the topic nor he's stonewalling it unlike our HRD Minister Ms. Smriti Irani. He's also ably helped by his impeccable command over the english language. For once, despite being diplomatic he's not defensive (not sure it made any sense because it's an oxymoron).
Frankly Speaking with Arun Jaitley was another delightful watch.
Despite his answers, we know what he's doing right😜 Bas itna kaafi hain mere dost. Iss type ke aadmi ko kaun seriously lega? Waise bhi sab film log aise hi hote hain, so we mustn't forget that when we see them monkeying around in films.
Satya Iyer Funny...I find him very invasive in this interview. He speaks English well but he is definitely stonewalling.

I found him extremely frank. He was man enough to admit that despite being a massive celebrity and a man of integrity, he cowers down to establishment, because he's afraid to take on the mighty powers hands-on. Some might say he's a coward, but he's man enough to admit it. He wasn't going round and round in circles. Repeatedly he goes onto give examples of his Bofors scandal which ruined his personal life.
I also thought he shed the light quite lucidly on the Salman case. He wasn't being evasive.
He explained his relationship with Bal Thackrey, his fall-out with Amar Singh.
One of the only few occasions where he stonewalled was the beef ban law. Him saying he's not aware of any suhc happenings and he's not keeping track of news was a bit ludicrous.
The Smriti Irani interview, in my opinion, was an epitome of stonewalling. She ducked and weaved practically every question, saying I don't know or that doesn't fall under my jursidiction or it's the state administration case or that's a totally different matter or this and that. She callously hid behind the veil of gift of the gab. Even before the interview began you could see she would be evasive. One just had to catch a glimpse of her closed sitting posture.
While you accuse the film fraternity of being silent about the victims of Salman Khan accident case,
1. Why are you silent on the Peddar road case involving Mukesh Ambani's car ?
2. Why are you silent on the recent Punjab Nirbhaya case where the girl died due to the treatment she & her mother received in the 'Orbit' bus owned by the Badals ?

What a tragic state of affairs! In a country like India, even the likes of Mr. Bachchan are afraid of the political establishment. Where does that leave democracy?
But, at the same time, there are other people who have taken on the political establishment and come out of it clean, if not unfazed. It's a question of one's commitment to one's people and having nothing to lose in the bargain.
