Man I almost screamed when you threw that dip pen at the tree. I was sitting there like "he better not actually throw it, he better not" then when you did throw it and it stuck into the bark I was just shocked. I am starting to get into art and sketching, as well as calligraphy, and I found this set to be pretty solid. Granted that there are way better sets out there. I think you should give one of those a try. I think you would enjoy it. Thx for a great video. Art/comedy absolutely brilliant.
The feather is served as a broom to clean off dust. A small speck of dust can ruin the entire writing. Feathers were great tools to clean it. Also when finished writing, pepple used to sprinkle grinded powder/salt to dry out the excessive ink. Whether cut it off or keep it together with the quill, the feather have its uses.
After watching this video, I bought a dip pen just like that, only in a bigger set that included a very nice wooden nib holden with a brass inlay, and yet another with a brass grip and a very nice glass handle. It came with twenty nibs, five of which had reservoirs, all for thirty-five dollars. Granted, I had a ten dollar off coupon, and ten dollars worth of Bing points built up, and the pen set was on sale so my final cost was three dollars and forty cents. Still. To my surprise, I found I rather enjoyed it. I find myself reaching for it fairly often. The other two are even better. It's the best wooden holder I've found, and the brass & glass one is both comfortable and beautiful. Other than the five reservoir nibs, the rest weren't very good, but I have several dozen quality nibs lying about. so that was no problem. As for being pretentious, that's silly. As a dear old psychology professor of mine used to say, words such as "pretentious" are only used by insecure people who are afraid others will think they're being pretentious. So why do people use such pens? Simple, it's called having fun. You know, like making your own wqooden nib holder when there are already a hundred on the market that are as good or better. You should try having fun more, and worry about what others think less. It's a lot more fun.
That's fantastic. Glad you're enjoying your dip pens. ( I've also bought a few more myself). As for the word pretentious, perhaps my definition of it needs work. As you've just made me realize that it has some strong negative emotions attached to it. To me it meant something that places more importance on style than function. Also known as art I think. So I don't want to live in a world without 'pretentious' objects. So I'm going to look for a new word now. And I'll also take your advice: Have fun :)
I grew up using those types of writing, my grandfather always thought it was important to keep the traditional calligraphy today I write really well and Old English Victorian style writing with My quill. Sometimes when I'm at work I take my work pen and I try to dip without thinking about it lol
That perfect throw!🤣 I love the level of detail in your drawings. It's so relaxing to watch you create stuff. And now I want to carve myself a pen.😉i think yours turned out great! Why does the fancy quill remind me of an elaborate serving spoon?🤔
So I have a similar metal pen, and I actually like the weight. My hands are a little shaky due to work, and I find that the weight helps keep my handwriting a bit more steady.
For Ink, I got doctors latex gloves off of Walmart app, only like $12 ,you get 100 medium gloves, you can use them over and again, if you let it dry, I use mine once a day and only use one, depends on how messy it gets...
I bought a red feathered pen. It’s just a holder, once I start using my favourite nibs and get into my work it doesn’t matter what I’m holding. However, I do put it behind glass in my cabinet so the cat doesn’t go at the feather. My quill pen did come with a full black ink in the jar. …I have a raven feather from a bird visitor should something happen to it.
Note to self: Be careful opening the ink, dont want to get it All over my hands as that is a terrible mess! Btw it’s my first time buying something like this so yeah, awesome advice!
You should use spit and a paper towel. Instructions:You need to spit in the paper towel and cover the whole nib in spit. Now dry it in a dry part of said paper towel. Repeat this about 5 times, and that waxy nib protector will wash off. Now, you will hold ink for about 1-2 lines.
If you think that one is a bit much try dolin youpin 1502 world map series. I have a red one with steampunk gears that run out there and it is the worst thing to hold for a pen
Hey! I just got one from trinity college, dublin. Can you please tell me what ink can I use? They have already given a small bottle but once it's over what ink should I use? Does normal fountain pen ink work?
searching for 'feather dip pen' on amazon will give you lots of similar pens. I bought this pen last month. We are not paying for comfort. It's an emotion, the feeling that we get while using it that makes it totally worth it.

I didn't know how much I needed a video like this! Thank you sir.

I for one really enjoyed your whimsical nonsense & your drawing - bonza cobber!

I think it’s really pretty and it actually works.
This was just so funny😂I could feel your frustrations
Love the dart throwing!
I really enjoyed your narrative review- it was fun to watch.
I found you today. You're amazing. I love your video since the beginning to the end.
Yo it looks like my feather dip pen!!😂
Yeah
There’s usually oil on nibs for storage so that may be the reason why the nibs that deposit all the ink don’t work well. I had the same problem
You could drill a hole in your homemade pen holder and stick a feather in there, make it look nice.
That perfect throw!🤣 I love the level of detail in your drawings. It's so relaxing to watch you create stuff. And now I want to carve myself a pen.😉i think yours turned out great! Why does the fancy quill remind me of an elaborate serving spoon?🤔
These videos are criminally underrated.
Amazing review and awesome drawing ♥️
I was writing with a similar pen as you spoke. I love you. 🤣🤣
you can't believe how helpful this video is haha
So I have a similar metal pen, and I actually like the weight. My hands are a little shaky due to work, and I find that the weight helps keep my handwriting a bit more steady.

Hilarious. Yet informative 😂❤
Love the accent 😄
See I want one. So im watching to learn how to use it.
😮I’ve just this minute brought this pen (on its way from EBAY)😊
Whenever I want to write, have I to dip the nib into ink? There is no option to insert the ink inside the pen like other fountain pens?
You should use spit and a paper towel.

Creative doodling! Frame-able! 14:15
If you think that one is a bit much try dolin youpin 1502 world map series. I have a red one with steampunk gears that run out there and it is the worst thing to hold for a pen

Seems to be this 'fosa' brand, or maybe that's just one of the many nonsensical brand names they have.
What kind of ink do you use and where to find it?
I used a fountain pen ink. I think in this video I mostly used 'Platinum Carbon black'.
@@Ashsibecan we use the ink of any brand
Funny, funny, funny.
Would you say it's, "Fanta-stick?"
Definitely LOL
That feather pen is not to do drawing that is to writing
Shake the devil out of it.
I saw that pen the same things and it cost 13 dollars
