This seems to be a reoccurring thing for Gary. I feel his carharsis in speaking about his dad as if he is constantly tryung to reconcile that hurt inner child to his father's abandonment. That deep seated sadness may never go away. His reconcilliation with his inner child will only come through his relationship with his own sons and the farher he is to them that his own dad wasn't to him. Perhaps that was why he would use pictures of his sons on movie sets to help him get emotional. He loves them so much.
