      Here's the thing a lot of nba players can score big. Now I know that's going to sound obvious but hear me out. It's when a player isn't a main option that there's issues. That's why role players are hard to find because to be cold and hit shots out of the blue is next to impossible. But with LeBron out and Rui is more of an option that's the difference. Same with Kuzma when he played with the Lakers. No where to be found normally but AD and LeBron are out and he scores 30. It's a tough thing to do. That's what makes players like Robert Horry, James Posey, Shane Battier etc... such good players. When they got the ball it went in but they didn't get it often.

    • @gamechanger114
      @gamechanger114 8 месяцев назад +5

      I'm going to keep saying that Vando should NOT be starting. I've been saying Rui should've been starting since the beginning of the season, utilized as a stretch 5 against 95% of the league. The only teams/players that would try to capitalize on primarily using their center for a mismatch against Rui are Embiid & Jokic. And, even then, Rui is talented enough to also score on both in various ways and could drag Embiid away from protecting the rim. Also, if Rui guards those guys that makes AD the help defender with his length and recovery speed while NOT being pushed around. When AD's guarding those guys they don't have to worry about anybody else coming help/block their shot as there aren't really any rim protectors besides AD... Idk why everyone's so fascinated with Vando. He is NOT an ideal starter for this Lakers team there's way too many better options to "start" between DLo, DLo, Rui, Prince, Christie, Lebron, AD & now Dinwiddie too. That's 8 guys that are capable of spacing the floor, and the defense respects their shot & offensive skill enough to actually guard them, taking pressure off all the other starters. Ngl, I was kind of happy Vando got hurt and was going to miss some weeks, most were sad about it but I knew it was a blessing in disguise because it was going to force Ham to play Rui more, and Vando wouldn't be available to make the Lakers offense stagnant. Now, literally everybody feels good and clicking as well as actually consistently winning games, too. I'm not saying Vando is a bad player because he's NOT he just shouldn't be utilized as a starter or play alot of minutes. Ideally, he should play 15-20min max off the bench, anything more your just taking away what he does best, and that's providing a jolt of energy off the bench. Playing him longer forces him to pace himself more because he knows he's going to play longer, and also allows the other team to adapt and implement gameplans and strategies that prioritize leaving Vando open so he can get the ball on offense. Which is quite literally the Lakers only true weakness offensively. That, and Lebron's natural nature to pass to whoever is open, which will be Vando. The fact that Ham and a lot of fans don't seem to understand this is truly concerning fr. Lakers are literally and clearly gelling better throughout the "entire games" without Vando. I want him back and healthy, but just in a more limited 12-18min a night, off the bench role. In order to ensure the Lakers keep winning at a good rate.

Im impressed with what Rue has done, and he is a great steal to have traded for and resigned. Great job, and I hope he keeps playing like this and thriving. Before the season even started it was leaked that the Lakers planned to have Rui in starting lineup after his dominant playoff run. Why that changed to start the season is beyond me. Prince is solid don't get me wrong but he's not a starter. He's better on the bench as we've seen. Rui is way better than prince and it's not close. Rui can create his own offense and play solid defense when needed and is near 6'9 and can play the 4 comfortably. We have seen when he gets minutes and gets the ball he'll either score or make the right pass / play more often than not. He fits great next to DLO, Reaves, Bron, and AD. The whole BS of him often struggling to get more than 15-20 a night's was absolutely baffling and Rui has shown he not only needs to start but at minimum he should be getting over 30 mins a night. His jump shot is like Kawhi. He almost always makes those mid range shots. He's been incredible and has shown to be worth every penny of that contract during this run.

    With Rui in the starting lineup, he space the floor on the offensive end while also being able to run your offense through him some possessions as he will more than likely have a smaller guard or forward guarding him. All 5 starters would be able to go and get their own shot. Vando, Gabe, Prince and Dinwiddie off the bench and. Then sprinkle Woods and Hayes to get AD a break or even go big at times with 2 center looks with AD at the 4, Bron, Rui and another playmaker. As good as Reaves and DLo been playing, DO NOT sleep on Dinwiddie and Gabe when they get fully acclimated. This the best team LeBron ever had. Crown us now! 👑

    We have our 6 starters already. Vando should only switch places with Rui for specific matchups. But I am against the idea of removing Rui if he has a rough patch. By Ham standards that could be if he plays bad for 4 games he is out. Nah at this point in the season stick with your guys. Too much moving is one of the reasons the team is stuck in 9th place. Guys are going to have bad games regardless. You notice we don't see Denver benching MPJ and Gordon if they have a bad stretch? Nor the Celtics benching White or the Bucks benching Lopez? No contender is gonna keep ditching their starters and changing lineups everytime a player has a bad game. I say we stick to this starting 5. More scoring.

But one thing people overlook is Rui being a legit big body that boxes out. You watch him and he'll often be boxing out the opposing C while other guys grab the uncontested rebounds. That doesn't show up in the boxscore so people just assume he's bad.

    The question of Rui vs. Vando should be dependent on how fast the opponent is. For faster teams or teams that have tough matchups at the 1/2/ or some 3's you need Vando as a help defender to clean up issues defensively otherwise it's Rui starting. TP is always an off the bench player not a starter. If Rui is hurt you default back to JV and vice versa. If Rui is playing like he is right now you stick with Rui because it forces defenses to make tough choices every possession and he isn't a bad defender on the other side of the ball. You just have to expect D-lo and AR to be targeted and live with it if Rui is out there with that unit.

DLo is 6' 3" and 195 lbs and he had 8 rebounds in the same game. With his size and strength Rui should be averaging at least 6 rpg but he's acceptable 4 (3.7 actually - I rounded up).

    Hey what's up Trevor yeah I think Rui has been great for the Lakers lately and he's playing with a lot of passion a lot of strength where he wasn't getting in Washington I just needed an opportunity just to flourish I know maybe I'm out out of line but let's save LeBron decide to leave I would have Anthony Davis rui Austin Reeves even the D'Angelo my core moving forward but I really want to see them how they're going to do after the All-Star now that's when you play for real to move in standing and make it playoff but Trevor excuse my French I just don't want coach ham f****** it up now he's doing good mismatch everything and make every player succeed and win!!👍

    Van Doo or rui is a coaches decision I don't favor either one of those guys I'm still impartial towards Van Doo because he's just a great defensive basketball player and if he developed to his full potential as a NBA starter Lakers will be unstoppable 💯👍

      Vando is strictly a one way player, very good on defence but mediocre on offence. He should be on the bench late in 4th. quarter.

      Nah I’d prefer to just keep this Starting 5 of DLO, AR, Rui, Bron, and AD going forward. I means teams shoot like the 2017 warriors when they play us away so we might as well just go all in on offense in the starting lineup and go defensive lineup when needed.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the starting lineup of Bron, AD, AR15, Dlo and Rui has the highest win percentage of any starting lineup Ham has employed this season. If it's working why not stick with it, like that's common sense coaching.

    When the shot clock is running out give the damn ball to Rui, He is a 3 level scorer like Carmelo he can get a decent shot against 90 percent of the players in the league. Have a 20 second rule, If you can't get a good shot for 19 second then give the ball to Rui, Particularly if he is defended by smaller player. Rui midrange is money, he can postup like Carmelo, even he is shooting very well from 3pt & free throw line.
