I pre-ordered this. I have the Betrayal at House on the Hill and know my family won’t play it. Because they are fans of Scooby Doo, the theme could be enough to get them to play. Unfortunately I live in a household of non-gamers. 😭
It's light enough that non-gamers can easily get into it. Although, I think much more serious gamers might find themselves less than enthralled by the Betrayal series overall. ~ Jeff
Has a Betrayal lover it's sad seeing alot of the player actions, combat items, death, and the Haunt Matrix out of the game. It's understandable. You can't have Shaggy walking around with a gun, or Fred stabbing Daphne to death. I do think Scooby Doo betrayal is the prefect way to get people into the franchise or to the concepts of gaming. They streamline it enough so that it's an easy game to teach young kids how to play. Having people volunteer to be the monster, with the Haunt causer getting first dibs, i think is more welcoming for newer players. Somehow every time you play Betrayal-HoH the matrix would somehow always pick the person who never played the game before.
I have not played other Betrayal games which may help explain this, but what is the point of the turn tracker? The rulebook doesn't seem to mention it at all other than to say it exists. Is it used in specific haunts, or is it just to measure your success at some level? I also couldn't figure out what token was to be used to mark the turn number, so I just used a pizza slice hoping that some rule would pop up and explain it.
@Crocky Base game Betrayal and Betrayal at Baldur's Gate both had 50 haunts. Scooby has 25 haunts. The way haunts activates are also a little different, because you pre-choose the genre(difficulty) of haunt before the game starts, instead of the Haunt Matrix. So each Scooby game has the possibility of only 5 haunts. Could be consider a good change for trying to prevent repeating haunts.
It’s determined by the number of players you have, 3, 4, or 5 players. You set your marker on the time bar thingy based on the number of players you have.

Same exact reasoning here. :)

Usually in the haunt the Mystery gang only have so many turns to complete their objectives or the baddie wins.
@@Thegaminggang Ok, thank you for that. I played a haunt that didn't utilize that feature.
the game look fun but some times i think that it need more mysteries, still i want it and hope for maybe in the future they add more
@ToadZilla
it seems to me that if we compare it with the other 25 they are few
Yeah, these games usually come with 50.

What does the place {3/3/4} tokens part mean??
