    I got a new name for you. Gastrochilus Retrocallus. If you like the bloom look at pictures of the rest of the Gastrochilus family. I know the name has changed so many times but it makes sense when you compare it to others in its genus. They remind me of phalaenopsis with oncidium lips. I'm going to buy a new one soon mines got crown rot.

    Very informative! I just got one delivered unmounted yesterday...... Do you recommend upside down mounting of this? Also what type of wood is it mounted on please? Thanks Nicole

    How long of a rest do you recommend ? In northern Canada so my winters are 8 months. Not really sure that’s a great idea for the orchid haha

      It’s hit or miss for me! I tend to enjoy more from a distance. Up close it has more of a cleaner smell to me. Not “bad” just not my favorite. About 6” back, I get more sweetness and less “chemical” smell.
      Thanks as always for watching!! Happy growing Justin!! :)

    Great information. With what you said about the winter “rest” I think I am going to give mine one this year. I had read that but thought as I grow in the living room it would not affect me. What are your thoughts since you grow in a tent inside?

    • @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore
      @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore  3 года назад

      I think it’s complicated but I believe a proper rest may be difficult. You could always try overnight on the garage or a cooler room/area to try to simulate the temp variance. Mine doesn’t go below 57-58 so not s proper rest by any means but still enough to slow it a bit. I think the sun levels/day lengths have more to do with triggering the plant. I just feel like a slight slow down/metabolic change does plants from more temperate regions wonders and gives them a better dose of what they’re used to. Would be cool to get another and grow them differently only during the winter (cooler months) and see what the differences end up being after a few seasons. You may really be onto something there! 🤔😉
      Thanks as always for watching snd thank you even more for joining on on this collab!! I sincerely hope we can do another on the near future!! 🙂

      You should try one out of you can find one! Supposedly pretty tolerant of extremes as long as you can supply some good humidity!
      Thanks for watching! Happy growing! 😊

      Thank you so much!!! It’s been a 3 year work in progress but I’m finally happy with the system, excluding light levels. I do OK but need more to work with! Hoping to expand later this year or perhaps early next year but this has been by far the best decision I’ve made for the orchids!
      Thank you so much for watching! I hope to be able to collab again in the near future! Happy growing! 😊
