I truly love how "not snob" your RUclips channel is. I lot of us would love to have a great luxury watch collection, but can't afford it (even though we like to watch the videos and dream about it). You dont mind talking about Casio, Orient, Seiko, etc. Kudos to you. Keep the good work.
Give it a break, stop watching so much watch media and wear what you already have. In a month or two you'll realize your current collection is probably far more than you need.
@@Mister_Phafanapolis I'd say it's better to buy fewer of higher quality and more desirable by one's self than just go for cheap volume. Quality has a quantity of its own.
This guy even gave us the courtesy of including the "lug to lug" measurement. Something even retailers and watch sellers don't bother to do most times. This measurement is just as crucial as diameter in my opinion.
They don't bother anymore because people would realized 90% of the production don't match the wrist size of most mens. When I see so called "watch enthousiasts", wearing watches where lugs are not even touching their tiny wrists...it's like loving nice suits, and buying them no matter what size they are. It ruins it all.
I am soo happy he put the Tissot Visodate in at the end, this was my first watch as an 18th birthday present. I love the heritage design behind the watch.
I gifted that exact Bambino to my brother as his first mechanical watch and God, it's beautiful. That navy blue sunburst dial is stunning. Maybe little bit bigger but he was used to even bigger watches so actualy it's a nice step down for him :D
Teddy, thanks for thinking of us bigger wristed people, and including 40-42mm sized offerings too. I also appreciate you still covering the entry level automatics for those that are likely just getting into watches, or just don't have the budgets some of us wish we had (or can get buy off on from our significant others hah!). I would be curious to see a future video covering trends you're seeing as far as styles/sizes/colors of watches after you've been selling all these watches a bit longer. Even a blog post would be interesting, if that fits better.
I couldn’t justify paying $500 for a watch without a sapphire. It costs these companies nothing, if I can get one for around $20-$30 I can only imagine what they pay wholesale.

Amazing compilation and information provided to make a perfect decision Also makes a reference point for a gift list for the holiday season Keep up the great work
I have a Seiko Presage 'Negroni" (absolutely beautiful dial), an Orient 'Helios' with blue dial, and a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto. The Seiko is such a beautiful watch I only wear it on special occasions as I'm afraid of scratching it (I'm kind of hard on watches). The Orient was my daily watch for a while. Very comfortable, beautiful dial, and kept very good time. Then I got my Hamilton and since then, it's hardly left my wrist outside of the shower. Just a very attractive an d comfortable daily wearer. It doesn't have the striking good looks of the Seiko, which has drawn attention when people see the play of light across the dial. The Hamilton also falls at a perfect size on my small wrist: not too small, not too big. I was able to find it in the low $400s for the Automatic, which is easy to do with minimal shopping online.
I purchased the Seiko SRPE53 based on your recommendation. Honestly, I'm super happy with it so far. Mine has been keeping +3-4 seconds a day which is incredible. I have been talking in love with this watch more each day. Thank you for the recommendation Teddy and thank you for the great content!!
Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB. $50-$80, with a Seiko movement. Don’t sleep on it, one of the only respectable Invictas out there. 99.9% of people on the street aren’t watch snobs and won’t say, “It’s a Submariner knockoff”. Just wear and enjoy. Looks great on a nato too. Btw, love the channel!
Every time I watch Teddy’s RUclips videos, I learn something new about watches. Really interesting. Will definitely help me when I buy my first automatic watch.
@@iKumala in the beginning my watch ran 7 seconds a day fast. I find on lower power reserve it can still gain a few seconds a day. High or full power reserve it’s dead on or a second behind. In normal use those usually cancel out
At the end, I have to agree with you about the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic 38mm. I bought mine last fall and seriously, it never leaves my wrist except when I shower. I have more expensive, more striking watches, but this is simply one great, comfortable daily wearer that I almost obsess over!
I own an orient mako[$150] and a Victorinox infantry automatic[$300] ( it retails for $695, but nobody should pay that) both are excellent stainless steel watches with a nice movement and sapphire crystal. You can’t go wrong. I feel like victorinox is an under appreciated Swiss brand,
Earlier this year, I ended up buying a Mido Baroncelli Heritage off Jomashop for $600. Great value, elebore grade ETA 2892-A2, 39mm diameter with 43mm at the lugs, only 7mm thick, 20mm lug width, and beautiful eggshell textured dial. Spent an addiitonal $100 for a shell cordovan strap and I've been using it as my daily. Ran 7-10s/d depending on how much it was charged and I started storing dial down for the last couple weeks - runs 5-6s/d now. The Mido Chronometer-grade Baroncelli are actually below $500 on Joma now.
Really happy to see Timex stepping up into the quality automatic market. Believe me I love Seikos as much as the next guy but it's nice to see a similarly historical brand competing with the all too ubiquitous Japanese giant.
Awesome overview as always Teddy, thank you. I have recently bought the bambino cream dial and Casio 5600 reverse display on your advice, now onto a Hamilton khaki or seiko alpinist, undecided on this purchase

Orient ray 2... Have had it for over 5 years now.. My daily driver, has been with me to 15 countries, sky and scuba diving.. And still kicking like a horse
Seiko and Orient are good watches but I would rather get something with a Swiss ETA movement. Hamilton Khaki Field is king by a land slide. Another extremely good offering is Steinhart. They start at around $500.00 You could try get a like new used one easily at $500. Ocean One Vintage red is fantastic. Also you missed the Glycine Combat Sub at around $350 and it has the Swiss ETA.
I bought the green Orient Maestro from Teddy and just got a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical for $306 from the base. Very happy with both. They will be my beaters.
Teddy, can you do a video on News anchors and their watches? There are few people in front of a camera more than news anchors. Would be interesting to see who wears what (regardless of politics)
I’m surprised the Vostok Amphibia made the list, but I’m glad you included it. I believe it’s the best automatic for beginners. It’s durable, cheap, and it even has a completely in-house, European (by a few hundred miles 😅) movement.
Love watching your videos. I only have 3 watches. 1. The Sternglas Naos Automatic 2. Tissot Le Locle Powermatic, which is my default dress watch. 3. Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic which is my daily watch. All are affordable. I’m not rich but I am fascinated by watches. So I only buy what I can. Been saving for a Nomos Orion, or Tangente. Hopefully before the end of the year.
I have the turtle save the ocean, I love it it's my favorite dive watch in my collection. Recently the Seiko presage line has drawn me in to the point where the cocktail time blue presage is my daily watch. have a good weekend.
Nice list. I have the first one on the list : Save the Ocean Turtle. Such a great watch and you’re right - amazing dial. But rather than waves, apparently (according to the Seiko blurb) the lines on the dial are meant to resemble the ventral pleats of a blue whale. Which I think is rather cool. Super interesting dial for such a relatively affordable watch!
... This is hilarous, I had been looking at vostoks for ages as a beater when my tudor gmt beater would be a bad idea, and then you mention it as im looking through them again XD
Thanks for the run down on these mechanical watches. I'm excited to get my first. Anyway, I wonder how many people are actually diving with these? My guess is very few.

Hello Teddy. I did not excpect a Vostok in this video but I am glad you had it in there. I have a bright yellow Vostok Kommenderski and it's by far the one I wear the most. Stay safe and take care.
Another great video Teddy. A real challenge to make a selection at this price range. Seiko 5 and Orient are the first brands that come to mind but there's so many micro brands that deserve consideration. The dresSKX is arguably the most versatile.
The Vostok Classica is a awesome dress watch that looks every bit as good as that green Seiko green SRP dress watch, and much better value, and and better than an Orient Bambino. It is a hand wind though. The Vostok Classica cost $165 when you can catch them in stock at Meranom.
The Tissot Visodate can be had for under 500 and is by far the best choice on this list. Have one and like it more then a few of my thousand dollar watches
Great collection. Just waited waited waited and wanted to post as another alternative the Tissot Heritage. And there it is :) actually you get nowadays mint pieces in used condition for a good price. The Seiko Dress KX is a great one. I have the black version but with the brushed/matte bezel. I think it looks even more elegant since the outer bezel is again shiny polished and this playful design continues on the case as well. Looks more valuable than the pure polished options. Laco Augsburg definitely a great one, look out for the Blaue Stunde 39mm with that beautiful blue dial. Orient Kamasu, exactly the best value for money automatic diver you can get plus it is much more elegant than other Japanese divers in this category.

Another great video Teddy. A real challenge to make a selection at this price range. Seiko 5 and Orient are the first brands that come to mind but there's so many micro brands that deserve consideration. The dresSKX is arguably the most versatile.
Tremendous video here, Teddy!
I actually purchased my new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 for a great price of $500, can't be any happier 🙂
glad to see some of my watches on this list :)
The Vostok Classica is a awesome dress watch that looks every bit as good as that green Seiko green SRP dress watch, and much better value, and and better than an Orient Bambino.
It is a hand wind though.
The Vostok Classica cost $165 when you can catch them in stock at Meranom.
Really good video Teddy, the Laco and the Orients stand out for me. 😄
The Tissot Visodate can be had for under 500 and is by far the best choice on this list. Have one and like it more then a few of my thousand dollar watches
Plz review the longines spirit Teddy! Great value for the money
My Laco is unbeatable for that price!Full of History, solid tool watch and running in chronometer numbers -4s per day
Man, I will now be getting that Seiko SRPD37. What a beaut.
