When we went to Punta Cana at the beginning of March, we stayed at Dreams. I loved the same things you did. I loved the connection with nature, the service, and the people. I didn't love the fact that the wifi connection was horrible, but I did feel refreshed and rejuvenated when I returned home! It was a much needed break from life...

A 1, ouch! A fantastic review though and thanks for all the footage and being so thorough! I guess everyone has different ideas on what’s on top of their list when it comes to a vacation spot, I love character, lush gardens, have a thing for lazy river pools and I liked hearing about the diverse crowd. Hey folks just returned from Dream Onyx resort after 13 days holiday let there be no doubt the resort is *5 stars all the way* money spend is well worth wonderful service beyond expectation if you like good time for family / single / couple go indulge you would not be disappointed score 10/10 sensational place keep it up
so, just to confirm , this is Dreams onyx, not Dreams Royal Beach?
The suites aren't that bad, "Club Level," is the way to go. Outstanding grounds, makes me think of Hawaii.
Thanks for another great review. It has been years since my trip to that Dreams. I have been to a few other resorts since then. But that Dreams pool remains my favorite.

I choose stay at hotel that has best theater performances, most wild life, flamingos walking through, possibly swans, interesting birds, etc, lots of lash greenery, beautiful pools, nice rooms, excellent foods, and most important is very clean swimmable calm water beach. Theatre is very important, I would go to hotel where there is no best entertainment. I check all of those to choose my stay. All these criteria matter to me.
Check out Melia Punta Cana for the nature aspect. Huge property with lots of nature.
Great insight. You have to nail the check-in to shape the experience for the traveler. Fail job on that. Can’t beat that weather though. ☀️

So I just watched this video on what NOT to ingest in Punta Cana. I knew about the water. But this man went on about not eating fruit, salad, or anything raw like sushi or ceviche. All things I love. Is it really that bad there? I remember one episode where you listed pepto as a must bring item. But this is next level.
You can eat fruit but make sure the fruit has not been cut open and left to lay there before you eat it. Make sure you eat only whole uncut fruit and wash it in mineral water, not tap water or else your bowels will be very soar. Stay well away from salads. Salads grow bacteria when left around and they may have been washed with tap water. Do not have ice in your drinks unless it is from mineral water. The ice will make you very sick. I have been to the Dominican Republic twice and was hospitalised on my first visit from food or ice related bugs. I thought I was going to die. I was prescribed strong antibiotics after thorough tests and examinations. When you brush your teeth, do not use tap water unless piping hot and allowed to cool down. I will not touch Sushi. Believe me you will shit your brains out looooo, if you are not careful out there with food, ice and water.

I'm going to Punta Cana next year but have been between the Barceló Bávaro Palace and Grand Bavaro Princess. Was wondering if you by chance had any comments on one of those. The Grand Bavaro Princess I wanted to do but people are telling me of better resorts in that financial area. Any advice?
I went to barcelo bavaro palace, couple years ago and i loved. Theatre is excellent., water is swimmable and food is nice.

No, this is now called Jewel Punta Cana...it sold AGAIN in December however and is closed for renovations as of mid-January 2024 to later in the year.

Excellence evening shows are pretty much the same routine rotation of shows you see at comparable resorts. Some better than others but nothing to base the evening around. Both EEC or EPC I would describe as couple focused resorts, though you do get mixed groups. Definitely both much lower key than Breathless or Chic though. They do have a late night spot called Alegria but it can also be hit and miss.

Yes, its Jewel. NOT Jewel Palm Beach which is different.
Do you ever go to Palm Springs, California? April and May are the best months to visit becuase its not too hot yet.
How is this one different from the Dreams Onyx?
Dreams Onyx is updated. It has nicer rooms, better food and entertainment. The beach party is included at Onyx, at Dreams its extra. But overall both are on a terrible beach that is overrun with seaweed from June-October.

I just got back. Right now the beach is full of seaweed. It was an awful vacation. Dreams Onyx is way nicer with better food and entertainment, but you are right about the crowd. The crowd at Dreams is better. Please tell people about the seaweed problem in the region from June to October. The beaches are almost unswimmable except for Macau.

It’s ok. Overpriced. Paid $2500 for a week. They pissed me off when they told me to leave the preferred dining area after I already took a seat. Some staff have attitude. At $2500, you Should be able to eat wherever you want
I don't think the duck pond is a good idea because they come out the water to relieve themselves. You have to watch where you're walking.

Dreams was the worst all inclusive hotel I had ever stayed. Dirty, small rooms and terrible food. Waist high pool that was difficult to swim in. Avoid this place.
