    No one talks about how dirty a working kitchen is! Cooking from scratch 3+ times a day creates a VERY Dirty kitchen. I feel you!

      @@kathleengallagher2659just … used lol
      The chopping, the prepping, flour, veggies/fruits, salt, herbs, cooking, washing dishes, heat, water, steam, everything you can think of. Then jars of “stuff” fermenting be it milk, veggies, flour. Some or all might end up on the floor😂. Do that 3 times a day plus any cooking project the kids are in the mood for. “Homemade” kitchens are USED but we wouldn’t have it any other way ❤

    I love that you do what is necessary! Feeding your family is more important than waiting on sourdough 😏

    Concerning yeast in your sourdough bread: I am from Austria (Europe) and we have a big bread culture with dark breads, rye bread etc and it is totally normal to use yeast in sourdough bread. Almost all recipes call for that, because we often use the sourdough for keeping the bread fresh longer and the better taste but not always for the rising aspect of it. So keep doing it 😇

    You are not the only one trying to stay afloat, I am right there with you. I am a mama to five, we homeschool too. Its a busy season getting use to the new school year. Please be full of grace for yourself and your family. Its so nice to see into your day. I love to see your cooking. Its so wonderful to see the fresh food. I enjoy eating what needs to be used up too. The sourdough is something that I have been experimenting with! The lived in home and happy children is what its all about. Such a refreshing video!!!

      One more thing- Do you pre heat your oven along with the corck? I have found that when I preheat mine to 500 I have read to bake it for 20 min then lower temp and bake for another 20 min. We love it however the bottom is very over done.... any tips? I heard you do around the same time. Any thoughts? Thanks

    • @jenilee.thepioneerhome
      @jenilee.thepioneerhome  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I do put my crocks in the 500 degrees oven. You do want it to be super hot when it goes in. It helps with the rise. But after you take the lid off, you can bring the oven down to 425. Experiment with the temps and times. But usually do 25 minutes, take the lid off and 20 minutes longer. My electric stove doesn't cook as hot. Hope that helps!

    You have a new subscriber! I can’t handle some of the fake kitchens I see from other RUclipsrs cause I would look at mine that I can barely keep up with! When you don’t use plastic forks or spoons and don’t use paper plates it gets overwhelming how many dishes pile up so fast! Just had a baby who will be three weeks old on Sunday and my toddler just found out she can climb over the baby gate. So it’s nice seeing a realistic home ❤️❤️❤️ I honestly think your kitchen was clean though! You do a great job momma!

    I made sourdough starter and the bread but I’m not keen on it, but just want to try it. I don’t need bread altogether because it makes my blood sugar rise , I just got to where I don’t have to use insulin, so I really need a good diabetic diet . I sure don’t want to have to take shots again! I love your videos!

    • @jenilee.thepioneerhome
      @jenilee.thepioneerhome  7 месяцев назад

      Good for you for trying sourdough. It is a labor of love and i can't imagine anyone would keep it going if they don't love it. If you really want to keep trying with sourdough. Yiu could look into einkorn flour. It's low in gluten and high in protien. But you need to do what's best for your health. Being off insulin is a huge accomplishment! And I would stick with what your doing. Sending lots of love and wishes for good health!

      I find its all about the recipe you use. Make sure to let the dough rest after mixing. The flour needs to absorb the water. And also to stretch and fold. Check out littlespoonfarm.com/ she has good recipes. And amzn.to/45Tc5g5 this book.

    I am new to sour dough. I’m 67 years old and just made my first “total” sourdough bread. I have made it with yeast added, but never just sourdough! I am excited. I am confused about when to feed my sourdough if I want to make bread. Do you feed it the night before, the day of, throw 1/2 away. Seems simple..I’m just confused. Please help!

    • @jenilee.thepioneerhome
      @jenilee.thepioneerhome  11 месяцев назад

      Hey! So cool that you started sourdough. You should be super proud of your self! When you want to bake, pull your sourdough start out. Take half of it and pour it into another container( like 1/4 cup or half a cup) feed it flour and water. I usually eyeball this. But think equal parts water and flour. Like a pancake batter. Let it ferment at least 4 hours. This is what you will use to bake. This is your leaven. Feed what's left of your sourdough started half water half flour and store back in fridge til next time. Hope this helps!

    Do you use freshly milled or store bought flour? I’m wondering bc I’ve been making sourdough for over a year with 100% freshly milled flour but I can never get my dough to look as “floofy” as yours! 🥖

    • @jenilee.thepioneerhome
      @jenilee.thepioneerhome  10 месяцев назад

      I grind my whole wheat flour. And use bread flower inplaxe of alpurpose flour. I don't always, but as stated in this video, I put 1 packet of yeast in my dough recipe. I do that to cut the rise time in half. And the bread is extra fluffy.

    Hope y'all are well. Is your husband still teaching or does he help you? What do you think about homeschooling so far?

      We intended for Jared to working at home. But instead took a position at a nearby school. So it's just me at home. But our goal is for us to be working together at home 🏡 ☺️

      And homeschooling is going well, it's an adjustment for sure!

      Well hopefully he can be home soon. Btw sourdough scares me to death. I watch the farmhouse on Boone, she is like a ninja with it.

    Мне странно на кухне и вот эти длинные волосы...они же мешают и не гигиенично.
