Danyn got the message. Band founder Miku, rhythm guitar, started the band with the idea of cute maids playing hard rock. She wanted that disconnect between the visual and the aural.
They celebrated ten years as a band with a tour of the US and Japan. This three and a half hour concert. Yes three and a half hours at Yokohama Arena was a brilliant culmination of that celebration year. So many great bands in Japan but Band Maid are easily my favourite for their many styles of Rock.
Don't You Tell Me! Oh, wait! You just did. 🤘😂Now, let me tell you something: Some say the Carolina Reaper is the hottest chili pepper with a Scoville Heat Index of 2.2 million. Nope! It's Band-Maid with a whopping 194 Million View index! 🌶🤘🎀 Thx, Danyn & Nate!
When Band-Maid started their outfits were very similar, but the change was started by singer Saiki ripping off the apron because she hated it. They've changed their style every year or two, getting more distinctive each time. In truth, only one is obviously recognisable as a maid these days. And yes, playing in a style that contrasts to their look is the whole point.
Exactly! Their concept of Japanese bands being all kawaii, etc just shows how small their bubble is regarding the Japanese rock, metal, punk music scene.
*"Hate?"* (from this same concert) for the vocals. Not metal screaming or anything ... the actual lyrics are brutal as hell. Plus more bass and guitar goodness.
Danyn referred to the lead vocalist (Saiki) as a "Goth queen," but I would have to disagree on the technical point of the fact that Band-Maid doesn't fit into the Goth-rock style. For a real Japanese "Goth queen," check out the band Yousei Teikoku and their vocalist, Yui Itsuki. A few of their songs include: "Astral Dogma" ruclips.net/video/_EeYxtAeaX4/видео.htmlsi=vAzGooDkDH7JLNlz "Kuusou Mesorogiwi" ruclips.net/video/ZZvJY7_gyfw/видео.htmlsi=GIwKFPRNj5PSrnIj "Tokyo ESP" anime Ending Theme: "Kyuusei Argyros" ruclips.net/video/l9CpJlnL97g/видео.htmlsi=js4_2Esod3HQGG4E
For heavier Japanese metal try Nemophila, Saiseiga, Dimrays, Bridear, and Asterism. Japanese metal is not just cute anymore. It is seriously ass-kickin'.
There is a "gap" in the look and the sound. The cute maid outfits completely belie the fact that Band-Maid can melt your face. Seriously!

The Maids are absolutely the best band on the planet.
Thats for sure!!!
Such a talented rock band. And they have a very unique sound.
Magical band 🔥❤️
Yep!!!
Members of LOVEBITES were in the audience that night...As was I!...YAY!
The Gap strikes again.
STOP 😭
Awesome Nate! You brought a friend 😁👍
“From Now On” Band Maid’s fully instrumental track that relies solely on musicianship
If you really want to see the bass and guitar go off watch HATE? from this same concert. Wear a seat belt.
Welcome home!
Thanks so much lovely reaction!
They are "almost mocking the cute". Band Maid body slams "cute"!

The best Japan rock band 🤘
There are artists in Japan who will make your head spin with their concepts and music, welcome to Japanese music.
Exactly! Their concept of Japanese bands being all kawaii, etc just shows how small their bubble is regarding the Japanese rock, metal, punk music scene.
Danyn gets it. 🤘
I like to think the maid outfits are an ironic punk rock middle finger to the expectations of the role of women in Japan.

After knowing danyn like sven gali, you knew band-maid was a shoo in 🤘🤘
♥
Yeah D gets it!!!!!!

Nate... sorry... but I do want to hear what Danyn wants to say too, you know....
Nice reaction and Band-Maid likes to cause cognitive dissonance in it's fans.
You are a funny man.
The lead singer and the bassist don't like the kawaii look for themselves so they wear black outfits.
Gapped
