That's how you use a stage to entertain. When people see this video everyone has this same look of "What?" Courtney was very shy and nervous for this performance. She came from another country, the UK to the USA to perform this audition, and was never part of something so big like AGT. They said the producers had to push her slot back a few times because of her nerves. If you get to watch more of her, (which I think everyone should take time to see how diversified Courtney is) the passion is always there. Also the power even as a younger 9 year old. From that AGT performance up until today she had gotten even better at everything she showed here. Her singing, her stage presence, and her appeal is much more advanced yet still maintains that raw side to her. She's not just a rock type singer as she shows here and other performances. She has a texture and timbre in her vocals when she sings slower ballads that are also so unique from others. When Courtney sings, you know it's her, if you're just listening without watching her. I do recall that about her true 1st and read that comment a few years back. You probably pointed out to me then too. I didn't realize that Melisa had performed that day too. Was there any videos of either of them singing that day? I hate to even bring this point up about my favorite new artist, but I've always wondered if when Courtney said "It's an original when asked by Howie, what exactly was meant. Meaning did someone just right the song for her to sing it for the 1st time. Or did Courtney write it herself or participate in writing it in a collaborated effort, which is what I've always assumed. Many musicians collaborate on writing songs together. One writes the lyrics and melody lines, while one or others finalize writing the music. Being this song is so catchy and has hooks written all over it, I'd say that's extremely talented writing for anyone, let alone someone so young and more or less a beginner at song writing. From my own experience, writing songs as an experience person studying music is not hard, but to write a song which catches the attention of the listeners ears to be that energized and excited about it, is beyond, even what a professional who has many years doing that sort of thing can do. Although Courtney has been singing for a number of years, this video launched her to worldwide fame (it now has over 500M views and Courtney has over 2 billion views overall) and the only reason that she is not already a mega-star is because her new music and much more of her career has been on hold for nearly the last two years due to the Covid situation. As absolutely incredible as this performance is, you have only scratched the surface of what Courtney is truly capable of with her music. Not only is she the the best rocker around, but she is equally as great across so many genres including R&B, Soul, Funk and Ballads as well as Rock. She moves so seamlessly between genres, sometimes in the same song, without the least bit of loss of the fabulous quality of her music. I have not heard another artist anywhere close to Courtney's level of vocal talent and vocal versatility in my lifetime. But there's so much more. You've got a small taste here of how she dominates the stage as a performer. Wait until you see what Courtney can do when she has a full stage to work with.
