I said yes to everything at Burning Man

  • I explored Burning Man by saying yes to everything in the temporary Black Rock City to answer the question of what is Burning Man. I was blown miles past my comfort zone while I immersed myself into the culture, explored self expression, interacted with immersive art installations all while getting dusty on the playa. I found nothing but a loving community that took care of me and kept me safe while I said yes to literally everything I was offered (except coffee because gross!).

    Long time festival go-er here, this is by far the best burning man video I’ve seen. Thank you for showing the culture in such a beautiful way. And amazing adventure thinking! Saying yes to everything? At burning man too? You’re definitely in for something special. Love this!!

    Great video Scotty. It shows a lot of what Burning Man actually is. One of the best videos Ive seen. We met at Organic Fruit and Veggie camp, we talked about the solar power we are doing there. Come back and see us next year.

(and SO SORRY I used my fingers to grab fruit! I only saw the sign not to once I was editing. Oops!)

    Thank you for this. You beautifully captured the principles and the essence of Burning Man. This year's burn was splendid! At several points through your video I was brought to tears by the deep feeling of connection and joy you conveyed which is what it's all about. I would love to find you on playa next year and give you a big hug. Blessings to you!

    Great video! The view from the plane really brought the size into perspective. Be interesting to know how much area of the city you covered/visited in relation to the overhead plane view.

    • @ScottyFindsAdventure
      @ScottyFindsAdventure  3 месяца назад

      The city is 2 miles wide or a little over 6 square miles. I biked across at least once per day and tried to take a different route each time. There's so much going on at the same time at all hours of the day that when you're there it feels like you're missing everything and seeing everything simultaneously. That makes it statistically impossible that any 2 people can have the same experience.

      @ScottyFindsAdventure as far as the actual derby (tournament) I don't usually participate due to the shear # of people. I try to go the following week when there are still large fish remaining. I think it's usually the first or 2nd week in February. You're always invited if you'd like to join.

    • @ScottyFindsAdventure
      @ScottyFindsAdventure  7 дней назад +3

      There's a huge variety of people there. Even some who sleep in their cars and even some who hitchhiked in! There are certainly some "elite", and obviously some bad eggs, but so often they're the ones giving the most (and not just showing off). The only requirement is paying $200/person for a low income ticket, but you really should also bring enough of your own food and water to be self reliant. The bad eggs are pretty easy to spot and avoid. I hope you go and have a ball!

      I went three times, a couple years apart, and yes, there are some good people there, though the last few times it was a lot of people trying to make trendy tiktoks or 'content'. Last year I decided to get out of my comfort zone and went to the Gathering of the Juggalos for the first time and had a way more meaningful and authentic experience. 90% of the music wasn't in my wheel house, except for Static-X, but the people were fantastic. It didn't matter where I went or who I talked to. Instant acceptance. It was loud, wild, and crazy. I had sooo much more fun though and no one told me about their app or tried to talk to me about crypto.

    Hi Scotty, I saw you got some great footage of our Gothclave fire performance right before the man burned! Our group didn't have a videographer, so we didn't get any footage of that night's performance. Could you possibly send me some videos you got of our performance, or post it somewhere we could watch it? We would very much appreciate it!

      I did think your frog tape over the seems of your truck was smart. Did you get it wet after applying it? Personally I bring as much of that magic playa dust with me as possible. In Dust We Trust! It looks like you had a good time and learned a lot about how the world can work! Magic!

    • @ScottyFindsAdventure
      @ScottyFindsAdventure  3 месяца назад

      Thankfully I got to see some dust after (and during) the temple burn. I got so lost for hours that night! And exodus on Monday took me 8 hours. The truck and camper stayed fairly dust free and only took a few hours to wipe down the insides after. My biggest issue was that the frog tape got extra sticky in the sun and left residue after taking it off. I spent about an extra hour getting that stickiness off. I did go through 2 car washes on the way home and the tape was unaffected. I did have a great time and it left me with so much to think about.
