There’s just something about 13 I just love maybe the button mechanics maybe the making a legend mode where u can be any player in the league and build them
yeah. it was my first one too. I don't disagree with him though. That gameplay pissed me off more than any 2k I played afterwards. I have never broken a controller, but I got really close multiple times playing it.
2K18 was the worst 2k easily. 0 improvement, bad at everything, worst gameplay, worst mycareer, worst myteam. It was so garbage 95% of the players went to play fortnite
nah it had lots of improvement, but was just improvement in the wrong areas and ruined a lot of the game's good qualities, that still affect the game today
2k12 was a great, underrated game. The problems is that the roster was of the previous season, and that it had 3 rookies due to the lockout. Also, the saving and loading is awkward (if you have the game you know what I am talking about). But with those issues aside and if there wasn't a lockout, 2k12 is definitely a top 5 2k with no questions.
I have to agree. I remember when I first put in the disc and saw no Crew mode, no online modes for MyPlayer like in 2k11, I was ticked. But the game still grew on me and I still enjoyed it for the entire year. MyPLAYER was still fun despite being offline. The game's presentation was one of the best if not the best. The way they implemented grainy, black/white broadcasts to match the classic teams' era was absolutely sick. Also, possibly the best intro to any basketball game ever.
I've only owned 2k17 and the reason I loved playing it was because that was the last year for Euroleague teams and my favourite Euroleague team won the championship that year for the first time in their history after losing in overtime the year before. I can't really say anything for other ones because I was a football/soccer fan more rather than a basketball fan. If I were a basketball fan earlier in my life, I probably would have better opinions on this list. But, I can't.
Agreed. Just something about the PS4/Xbox version of 2K14 that was so good. I still play 2K14 from time to time because it was the last MyCareer I really enjoyed. Plus it still holds up for the most part. My only gripe with 2K14 was it was pretty bare bone in terms of features. That and the navigation menus were terribly organized.
I will always believe that 2k13 has the best controls for any 2k game. It was more button friendly before they decided to heavily favor the shot stick, which I always hated. The funny thing also about 2k17 for me was that it was really the only time I never played MyCareer on a regular basis, I just stuck to MyTeam for almost the whole year. Good times though, good times, May everyone have a good day and be safe.
I just want to say thank you for this video series. Because of your 2k16 vid, I went back to that game when 2k20 heavily disappointed me. It was better than I remembered. I've had so much since and its the only 2k I've played for a while now.
Arguably his best MyCAREER series, alongside 2K11. I remember he streamed most of the playoffs & in the 2nd round he was struggling against the Lakers so he had the chat give him input on what signature skills he should use.
2k14 is still the best for me. Simplest gameplay, the graphics is not realistic but damn it its smooth as hell. Also the best soundtrack for me, the way they used can't hold us and started from the bottom is just brilliant. Its also definitely a huge jump from 2k13 and its successor couldn't keep up. Great video anyways
I liked 2k7's soundtrack more, but yeah I enjoyed playing 2k14 more on the defensive end than 13 which just destroys you no matter how well you control it.
I don't why & I can't really put my finger on it, but there was something so nostalgic about 2K13... it definitely wasn't the best & had lots of gameplay problems, but it was still a lot of fun & hit you right in the feels. It's also one of the more distinct 2Ks in the series IMO. Objectively not the best, but still so many fond memories. It also might have something to do with the times (2012-13) being so fun too. Good times, man.
Based on your list I'm so glad I took a 3 year break from 2k. I didn't miss anything but frustration it seems. I was a solid player from 2k6 until 2k16 and then I was burned out. I picked up 2k20 on a really cheap steam sale and your videos along with Clique's resparked my love for the series.
Definitely a lot of this has to do with nostalgia. The first 2k I really played was 2k10 and between that game and 2k11, I swear there hasn't been a better year since.
My first 2k was 2k17. Loved it to death. When 2k18 came out, I hated it. Quit it after a few days. Then I just stopped playing 2k altogether and one day like 3 years later I decided to play it again. 2k18’s disc was broken and 2k17 barely worked, but it pulled through. Even though I couldn’t play online, it was still a great game, especially MyCareer. Yes, orange juice was a little cringe, but I didn’t mind. For Christmas, my mom bought me 2k22. I tried it, and I couldn’t make a shot. 2k17s shot meter was by far my favorite and I don’t think anything can change that.
NBA2K19 should definitely be higher, that game is pretty underrated. We got a new park, Gameplay was very good, sure we had pushing in the game up until Christmas, but after that, the park gameplay was amazing. People underrate it because its on the mix with 17, 18 and 20. But don’t sleep, 19 was a good game
2k11 and 2k12 were my first nba games... gosh I played the shit out of them... I was hating on fifa, saying that it should learn from nba 2k... didn't know it would be the other way around... can't believe what nba 2k has become...
I’m tired of the 2k13 slander it introduced the best offensive control interface that let you take advantage of realistic player skill set that hasn’t been duplicated in my opinion. Even with the cpu ai I felt like I was really trying to contain Kobe Bryant even tho it was over powered it still represented player signature skill sets better than any other 2k
I would like to give extra credit to the 2Ks that had playable Celebrities and the all star mini games that you didn’t have to play a career or league for as extra credit because that was important me as well as as customization options
I remember having a some real good times on 2K12. 2K11 is probably my favorite, but I gave up 2K12 right when 2K13 came out. I can't look at 2K13 as fondly due to it being the first game I had to take it off HoF difficulty. Didn't have any issues on 11 or 12 that I had with that one. You made me wanna go back to 12 and see how it holds up to me. I initially left it due to the speed cheese, but maybe I'll take it back. Especially since it had my best time on MyPlayer
What do you all think about 2k21? I found this video because I couldn't decide which 2k to start playing as I've never played any of them (except with my friends years back, I think it was 2k14). I got 2k21 on epic for free. Should I bother playing it or just buy 2k16?
In terms of just graphics I think the reason 2k14 looked so good was because of its godly lighting that gave the game such a real feeling and atmosphere. And in terms of player models I think 2k20/21 current gen have the best models. I believe that 2k improved the models each year on the PS3/360 and on the XOne/PS4 added the lighting and best models for 2k14 (next gen at the time). They are doing the same thing this year. They removed 2k14s lighting making the players look more clay like on current gen while slowly improving the models and have finally added back the lighting and their best models into 2k21 next gen. Just my theory.
08 through to 12 were my favourites. It’s just because they were the first 4 that I played and they were everything I ever wanted in a basketball game, and at the time seemed so realistic compared to live (2k8 is where I made the jump from live) I know I probably couldn’t play them now but they’ll always be special to me.
Game mode wise i agree i mean the legend game mode was awesome got to play with the classic teams with their tv color and all that, that part about 2k12 was awesome the soundtrack is underrated in my opinion tbh but thats what makes 2k12 middle of the pack at best. At least for me
@@K_D_A idk. 2k13 was the only 2K I ever owned until I shoveled people's driveways for money to buy a PS4 and 2k18. I never played mycareer on current gen until 2k19. I told remember cutscenes from 2k18 but all I'm saying is Orange Juice was fire from the playthroughs I used to watch.
2K hasn’t been “good” since 2k14. But the worst was the current gen version of this years iteration: 2k21. No cutscenes or any interactions with anyone after the draft. No explanation for why the team drafted your rival and you back-to-back. Awful gameplay mechanics. Just a huge load of disappointment. They may as well have not even released a game for current gen. But ya know... had to rob the consumers in every way possible 😒
My thoughts on every 2K I have played: (Bump 2K13 ahead of 9 and 19 and I agree with your entire list.) 2K15: This is the first 2K I owned. I think I played 2K13 at my cousin's house one night. My first experience of 2K was solid enough for me to like. Before listening to other 2K soundtracks, this one was actually my favorite for a long time. Now 13 is my new favorite, but 15 is still pretty good for me. Score: 8/10 2K16: The best one I've played by a landslide. 2K11 has the smoothest gameplay, but this is right behind it. The online play, visuals, and parks at the time were beautiful to enjoy. Also, this is the last game to feature real jerseys on Blacktop instead of those black and white uniforms that are unrecognizable and have the 1983 76ers with Moses, Dr. J, Mo Cheeks, and Bobby Jones, (no Andrew Toney, though. Severly underrated scorer.) Now, 2K only has the Dr. J 76ers team that lost to the Blazers. That's messed up, but regardless, this game has an amazing experience from start to finish. My personal favorite for a very long time. Score: Near Perfection! (9.5/10) 2K17: I don't care what some people are about to reply to me after I say this....FUCK this game. This is the absolute worst dropoff from one game to the other I have personally ever witnessed. It's the first game where I started to see some glaring problems and not to mention the new features that ruined the control for me entirely. The parks were basically the same as 16, which ruined the parks for me. Park after dark? Total lagfest that was fucked from the get-go. I still don't know how the hell some people love this game. To me, this game fucking sucks. Score: 0/10 2K18: This is the game that made me take a 2 year break from this entirely. I was playing Live on my phone that whole time; this game was so bad. I really thought with the new all time teams and other classic teams that were featured that this would be an improvement of 17. Nope...I didn't even need to play online that much to hear the hate from other players. I finally just deleted it off of my Xbox after making a new roster on 21. I just wanted a change. I'm not going to say much more from this piece of shit developers call a professional video game because it's not worth it to me, so I'll just leave you with this... Score: GO TO HELL. (-infinity/10) 2K19: Never played, but doesn't look better than 13, Dom... 2K20: Still never played. Looks like people aren't liking this too well, either... 2K21: Just beginning now. So far, it looks like a remake of 2K14. Beautiful graphics with ok gameplay. Plus, with more classic teams and jerseys to the all time teams added (#bringbackthe'83Sixers), this only visually looks like the best game since 2K16 so far. The MyTeam and MyCareer doesn't look too bad either. Let's hope for the best... Peace to the 3rd generation. Very mixed one. Hope the 4th is better.
NBA2k18 you basically walk into a game knowing that some dumb shit was gonna happen. Park was Ight but the MyCareer cringe with the bad ass cut scenes you couldn’t skip, the unplayable gameplay. Ah man 2k18 pisses me off to this day
My rankings just based on the 2K's I played (I'm adding 2K14 Current Gen since I didn't play next gen until 2K15) 1. NBA 2K16 2. NBA 2K14 (Current Gen) 3. NBA 2K11 4. NBA 2K12 5. NBA 2K15 6. NBA 2K10 7. NBA 2K13 8. NBA 2K18 9. NBA 2K19 10. NBA 2K17 11. NBA 2K20 Everything before and including NBA 2K9 from Dom's list I never played, and my experience on 2K18 is severely different (other than the cringey ass MyCareer) and I viewed 2K19 and 2K17 as more broken since defense was broken (similar problems in each one). 2K20 wants to go up for me because of 2K21 for current gen, but I realized I had raged more and had more expectations of 2K20 compared to 2K21. Dom, you have to realize that unlike 2K17, 2K18 was literally a small patch to fix frequencies of animations, layup timing, and upping the game speed away from being top 2 if not the best 2K on next gen gameplay-wise. Even then, the game during and coming back is a lot more smoother than its sequels, at least to me.
Honestly speaking I felt like I had more imagined for the last gen 2k. Used to think we would get olympics every four years, choosing to go overseas, or college. We just got Summer league in mycareer 😞 and it’s barley anything.

It’s just because they were the first 4 that I played and they were everything I ever wanted in a basketball game, and at the time seemed so realistic compared to live (2k8 is where I made the jump from live)
I know I probably couldn’t play them now but they’ll always be special to me.
Bruh 2k18 was so bad that live 18 had an argument as a better game. That’s alone puts it at the bottom.
2k12 was got me into 2k and basketball in general
I can’t wait until years later when he does this with the ps5 and Xbox series x 2ks
me too
17 is better than 20 but other than that genuinely amazing list I been playing since 2K7
Game mode wise i agree i mean the legend game mode was awesome got to play with the classic teams with their tv color and all that, that part about 2k12 was awesome the soundtrack is underrated in my opinion tbh but thats what makes 2k12 middle of the pack at best. At least for me
NBA 2K10 on the Wii is still one of the most painful gaming experiences I've ever had
After like a year between releases this man speeds right through three vids
Love the list
2k16 soundtrack is so 🔥
Well done 👏👏👏
Orange Juice was fire tho 😭
You probably liked 2k18's hour long cutscenes that could not be skipped smh
That fresh squeeze? 🤣
Honestly, one reason 2k17 is tied with 11 for my favorite. So much nostalgia for 17 and memorable
OG team takeover
2K hasn’t been “good” since 2k14. But the worst was the current gen version of this years iteration: 2k21. No cutscenes or any interactions with anyone after the draft. No explanation for why the team drafted your rival and you back-to-back. Awful gameplay mechanics. Just a huge load of disappointment. They may as well have not even released a game for current gen. But ya know... had to rob the consumers in every way possible 😒
@kaleel clark exactly. Pitiful effort from 2K
@@PatrickKendrick1988 So 2K16 is bad?
2k16 was the best game of all the 2K's only debate would be about 2k11 being better since 2k16 had VC, other than that nothing really comes close
@Sam Bridgers based on mycareer and upgrading your player? Yes. It isn't good. 2k16 started making you a role player
I wonder when The 2K21 Video will come out?
2k11 just cause of the Jordan Challenges and drafting him to any team I want.
It only took a pandemic and the world collapsing to make this man finish this series lol
what is the list that tiny side bar at the end ?? there was no list lol
Don’t even need to get through the ads to know it’s 18
Any reason why u picked xbox over ps5? Not a shot saying ps5 is better but a genuine question
That miss after Shaq's put back gave me 2k18 ptsd.
My thoughts on every 2K I have played: (Bump 2K13 ahead of 9 and 19 and I agree with your entire list.)
2K15: This is the first 2K I owned. I think I played 2K13 at my cousin's house one night. My first experience of 2K was solid enough for me to like. Before listening to other 2K soundtracks, this one was actually my favorite for a long time. Now 13 is my new favorite, but 15 is still pretty good for me.
Score: 8/10
2K16: The best one I've played by a landslide.
2K17: I don't care what some people are about to reply to me after I say this....FUCK this game.
Score: 0/10
2K18: This is the game that made me take a 2 year break from this entirely.
(-infinity/10)
2K19: Never played, but doesn't look better than 13, Dom...
As someone who's only owned 18 and 20 I'm glad that my frustrations were validated lls
2k16 is god tier like cmon it’s 2016, 2016 stay goated
I agree with everything but 19 I have that as a top 5 2k..
Noti gang
NBA2k18 you basically walk into a game knowing that some dumb shit was gonna happen. Park was Ight but the MyCareer cringe with the bad ass cut scenes you couldn’t skip, the unplayable gameplay. Ah man 2k18 pisses me off to this day
please tell me u are going to do a 2k21 review
My rankings just based on the 2K's I played (I'm adding 2K14 Current Gen since I didn't play next gen until 2K15)
1. NBA 2K16
2. NBA 2K14 (Current Gen)
3. NBA 2K11
4. NBA 2K12
5. NBA 2K15
6. NBA 2K10
7. NBA 2K13
8. NBA 2K18
9. NBA 2K19
10. NBA 2K17
11. NBA 2K20
Everything before and including NBA 2K9 from Dom's list I never played, and my experience on 2K18 is severely different (other than the cringey ass MyCareer) and I viewed 2K19 and 2K17 as more broken since defense was broken (similar problems in each one).
2k5. Real OGs remember Sega producing great sports games (NFL 2k5 was so good EA bought Madden exclusivity because they couldnt compete)
When PS4 came out I copped 2k14.
Thursday I'm getting 2k21 Mamba Edition.
I still believe 2k12 would've been the greatest 2k if they had the rookies
2k16 is the best 2k no question I wish they brought it back and that soundtrack is so nostalgic
59 players drafted before IT , you promised
Anybody know the song used from 0:00-0:30

Trippin orange juice was hot😂😂
Honestly speaking I felt like I had more imagined for the last gen 2k. Used to think we would get olympics every four years, choosing to go overseas, or college. We just got Summer league in mycareer 😞 and it’s barley anything.
Jake from state farm was the final dagger in 2K’s back
