    Body Kun is very pleasing to look at. As an artist, I want a general, more appealing thing to look at. I can adjust the positioning in my drawing if need be.
    To be fair, I don't think it actually matters. The articulation differences are very small, and so the end product in your drawing will look more or less the same (with some experianced under your belt that is)
    I suppose it's just preference.

  • @lelouchbritannia57
    @lelouchbritannia57 8 лет назад +25

    Yay! Thanks for the review :)
    I don't regret opting for the figma archetype next he and she. Better articulation and the detailed aesthetics. I am an artist myself that does digital manga, I don't think those gaps would be a problem if u can imagine and fill them in your head.

    • @overlordfigmori7971
      @overlordfigmori7971  8 лет назад +1

      ahhhhh well I am not an artist lol I just assumed body kun would be better for artists because well, his purpose was basically to be a drawing refrence. Also, no problem! I also did a short comparison between the female variants

    • @lelouchbritannia57
      @lelouchbritannia57 8 лет назад +6

      Better range of poses (though some turn absurd... u can fix that when you draw) and much more buffed (you can draw a normal and thin body out of that but will be hard from a standard body that has far less aesthetics like body-kun have. I also like that the feet and face are detailed, it helps you draw faces at different angles.
      and ok will check that too :)

      Raito Yagami idk I find drawing muscles and face easier than coming up with compositions and poses

    • @arickle
      @arickle 3 года назад

      @@lelouchbritannia57 I'm with ya on this. Getting the pose is more important, and filling the gaps on the figure is easy. The gaps would be more problematic if actually displaying the figure, but not as a drawing reference.

  • @pinekun
    @pinekun 8 лет назад +8

    Although a bare Archtype He has some rather large gaps in his body when posed certain ways, I like him better. And because he is just a base of what they will be using for figmas, gaps are expected, because whole figures will be clothed and I feel that the clothing would potentially mask the gaps more.

  • @Keilink
    @Keilink 7 лет назад +12

    Hmm the back articualtion on Archetype Next looks really weird, on both male and female actually, that's not how spines work, ahah.
    I'm about to buy some of those for art purpose, I guess I'll take Body-kun for the male figure and Next:She for the female one, thanks to your reviews.
    This said I wonder if items sold with the DX body-chan/kun series works with the Next series.
    Also the both of them bashing Naruto on the slide show was hilarious xD

  • @BlackRabbitDigitalP
    @BlackRabbitDigitalP 8 лет назад +16

    As mentioned on your other video, as an artist, Figma is actually a better tool than Body-kun simply because you can achieve better poses and you have more references on the mannequin and last the proportions are much more realistic.
    It is more useful to have more pose choices and a few holes which you can easily fill if you know about basic anatomy than if you have a much more limited posing capability with no gaps.

      Hello from the future, thank God this guy commented bout this guys rambling, if not i would have to painstakingly find out where the video actually is about. Even if its a video those feedback is valuable to the content creator for them to improve their content delivery, not just keep making same mistake or ur channel wont grow. In this day of fast edge , everyone prefer video that get on the point, espcially ones that they searched up themselves, unless ur watching memes or documentaries, ofcourse it natural to let the video just play out. But in this case THIS IS AN INFORMATIVE typr of video. So better be on POINT since viewers value more on the INFORMATION THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • @AtomekKotalke

    As someone who studies painting and drawing I can see that Archetype one has better proportions.
    Something about Body-kun and Body-chan is proportionally not right. Propably too big head and too long legs, it fits the manga and anime but Archetype is more realistic in proportions so I think it’s better to study in terms of shapes. Don’t start from manga proportions, start from more realistic approach.

    Wouldn't you just need one figure wherever it's the male or female and sketch over beyond what you're seeing? so what I mean is you pose a female figure and sketch over it but if you want a male figure sketch you can just refine the lines of the sketch you don't really need both

    • @jamesgordon2060
      @jamesgordon2060 6 лет назад +2

      Nah, to be fair both body types are pretty different, no matter what way you look at it. I guess it depends on how good an artist you are, without it.

    • @nightmarefanatic1819
      @nightmarefanatic1819 6 лет назад +3

      You can, it's just easier to have both bodies.

    • @Sanakudou
      @Sanakudou 3 года назад

      The anatomy of both genders is quite different but body kun would probably still be okay if you’re trying to do both and using it for basic proportions. Archetype She is a great choice for a female manikin tho! I feel like Archetype He is mostly useful from the chest up, especially with the muscle details but overall body kun would likely help an artist who hasn’t studied anatomy in-depth to really improve on prepositions and posing, especially because of the torso crunching more realistically.

  • @mangjuan223
    @mangjuan223 3 года назад +1

    If you are an artist just go for archetype youll save money. Archetype has the details contour in muscles ull need in drawing. Its easier to downgrade your details rather than remembering all the muscles

    Body Kun VS Figma: The Figma man looks like a hulking monster- I can
    barely stand to look at him, he's so grotesque. The female figure is
    good. The male Body Kun looks like a normal man; the female Body Chan
    is an insult to women and to anatomy. So if you REALLY want to use
    these as art models, get the Figma Female & the Body Kun male. I
    also think the Synthetic Human male is pretty good but they have no
    female counterpart and they're expensive so not a good idea.

    I can't decide between the 2 because I also enjoy the archetype more aesthetically as well, but I know the body kun comes with items to hold and work with (like phone, sword, etc). I haven't seen items for the archetype advertised with them, so do they not come with them?

      the archetypes were around $50 when they came out (give or take)
      and along with the body kun I’m estimating around $500 for everything (give or take)
      yeah these figures are not for people with shallow wallets, even back when they were readily available and “cheap”
      the archetypes are around $100+ now and body Kung are $200+ EACH and that’s if you can find them at all 😂

    Here's a little "secret". Amiami does offer some sort of cancellation option. But you need to email them before the payment deadline. And from what I have experienced, they allow cancellations despite telling you that "these cancellations are done only as a courtesy" and such. Thougfh, I would advise that you don't do the cancellation via email for consecutive orders, since they are likely going to to notice and do ban your account.

  • @Rock_Draw

    This figures are good, but there`s two negative points: 1-
    They are too expensive to be basic figures (yes, they are totally posable, but they are still basic, without details or painting) 2-
    I find them too small for my taste. They are only useful if I take pictures of them.
    Luckily I first found bootlegs and that saved me a lot of money.

    I've got a bizzare question...which one has got the most stable articulations? I explain better...I'd like to give one of this mannequin as a present to a blind friend (he won't use it to draw obvsiously)...so I need a mannequin you can touch (in the way a blind person does to understand the shape of an object) without risking of altering the pose of the figure too much (so if I decide to make the mannequin assume a certain position-for example a footballer doing a bicycle kick goal- this person can 'sense' the position).
    Could you please make a try, better if with your eyes closed XD ? I'd really appreciate your help!! Maybe none of this two is suitable...

    If it takes three hours to set up a one-minute slideshow, then you're spending a lot of time going 'nope, not right', yes? Take a little time to put into mental words why that pose or camera angle is a nope, then scribble it down before moving on. By the end of the three hours + thinking and writing time, you'll probably have a lot of raw material for a 'how to pose' guide.

I've got body kun today and it's just visibly cheap. but this other guy you show here would bug me even more bc if i need it for drawing I wouldn't want to draw such crappy gaps ofc. I think however, that if one's an artist, they should know how to draw already and be able to draw the articulated muscles themselves, so the posability more important for me. but why is it such a cheap crap?

    where do you buy accessories

      Spirit_Of_Sun go to Shapeways and search for 1:12th scale accessories. Order them printed in frosted ultra detail material.
      I ordered a bunch of assault rifles and weapons like swords and stuff to use when I use them as art mannequins, they turned out great.
      The scale is 1:12th, they're six inches tall and one inch in our universe means twelve inches in their universe. As a result, any accessory that exists for 1:12th scale fits.

    If you aren't comfortable with teaching the poses maybe you could film the process of putting them into poses.
