    Cranborne audio is someone who cares for the music industry, music producers. Music should not be inaccessible like how avid does. Iam upgrading my center console with cranborne audio equipments. And going to own every piece of equipment they manufacture.
    Huge support to cranborne audio guys, keep doing the great work.
    Humble request - PLS DONT EVER COME UP WITH A SOFTWARE OR APP FOR ANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS. LET THE VISUAL MECHANICS SAY IT ALL.

    You, my man, are a very very talented multi-instrumentalist, studio guy and a super cool dude!
    I can definitely say so, as I m a similar kind of guy (not discussing the level of musicianship here, coz everyone knows his own shit), But being a small studio owner myself, artist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, audio mixing/production dude, educator, music radio show host and a person with a Bmus (hons) degree @ London College of Music.
    YES, I feel a very credible person to say that... Alec you rule!!! My respect! keep on goin ..

    Such a cool piece of gear! I’ve been looking at the EC1 as my first dip into outboard gear, and this has definitely made it clear that would be a good buy. My big decision now is deciding whether I just add it to my Black Lion audio interface, or I trade in the Black Lion and forgo the EC1 to get the Neve 88M🤣

    • @alecbrits
      @alecbrits  2 года назад

      It’s a great unit! One of the few review pieces that have stayed here. Always blown away by how open it is. :) if you are going into outboard, I’d recommend looking into the Cranborne 500 rack. That’s a good way around solving a few problems at once. If I was to open a studio B it would be the centre piece for sure. :)

    Does the preamp settings (Cream and Thump mojo) have the ability to be dialed into the auxiliary input signal or is it exclusively just for the preamps on channels 1 and 2?

    • @alecbrits
      @alecbrits  2 года назад

      I’d recommend looking into a 500 series rack if you are looking for variety. :) that way you can get various tones. I use the Cranborne a lot more than my 1073. But that’s just my personal choice.

      @@alecbrits Thanks Alec for advice 😊👍🏻 I only need two channels max.
      Good to hear your using the Cranborne a lot. I am pretty tempted with the EC2! I’m also considering the EC1 + the Warm WA12mk2. What would you recommend?

    Just acquired the N22H/N22/N8 bundle to handle some signal flow from some external racks equipped with DB25 connectivity. Was hoping to use the link connection on the back of the 500R8 to monitor both with zero latency but I am not even hearing signal coming out of the N8. So not sure what’s up with that. I do have signal between my monitor board plugged into the N22passing through the cat5 to the N22H and am able to send mic signal back to the N22 and out from the xlr jacks into the 500R8 rack slots. Just wishing I knew what I could do with the C.A.S.T. Link on the back of the rack. Does that just link up the two summing mixers of two C.A.S.T. enabled racks? Or can you link it to other devices that have C.A.S.T. connections like the N8? It’s just a bit confusing and I’m not finding supporting info regarding this in the online manual or in the youtube tutorials.

      Hey Dave! Thanks for the comment, I’m not too sure (it’s been a while since I used the unit to be completely honest. I think the best case here would be to email Cranborne and see what they say about it. :)

    Alec, do you happen to know how the mojo section adds the harmonics? Is it digital emulation or a hardware circuit?

    • @alecbrits
      @alecbrits  2 года назад +1

      I believe it’s an analog circuit that gets added to the signal. :)

    In my search for a really good preamp, this seems to blow everything around $1k out of the water unless you are looking for the sound from a very specific unit. This is probably going near the top of my hardware purchase list.

      @@alecbrits Thanks Alec, I just listened to that one, and also your earthworks mic video, both with the Cranborne. My main outstanding question is that there seems to be a somewhat edgy peak in the vocal signals, and I’m wondering, is this the mic, or do you have the mojo turned up a lot on these, or both? I know in one case I could see the mojo was off but it still had an edge- so maybe it’s the mic or post? I personally have several flat mics- a pair of TLM-107’s and a TLM-193. So my second question is, will I be able to use the cream on these mics and get a nice range of balanced distortion, or is it going to peak out early? I am guessing that the flatness of my mics will be forgiving with the Cranborne, but I keep hearing this somewhat peak in lots of other peoples demos as well when the cream is turned on, ranging from peaky to a bit strident. Not saying it's a bad sound, but not what I'm going for on vocals. The Mojo seems more forgiving for instrument sources. But I could be wrong. Would really love your insights on this. And thanks so much again for your thoughtful videos and replies.
