  • Olympus XA prince of rangefinder, tiny, reliable, the mju 2 of manual focus cameras
The Olympus XA is the most powerful of the family, the XA1 to XA4 being non-rangefinder versions of different qualities. Built from 1979 to 1985, it was not until 1997 that Olympus created something close to this jewel in terms of maximum compactness and photographic efficiency.
This small aperture priority rangefinder offers a classic user experience, very practical, close to perfection, it is easily manageable with one hand and has one of the most precise lenses for such a small 35mm camera.
Many actually prefer it to the classic Olympus Mju 2 because it's non-autofocus, and a very precise manual focus alternative.
This video walks through its options and some black and white and color results shot in various environments.

Excellent video! I once had an XA2 (bought new), but just picked up a used XA while traveling in Germany. I can’t wait to see the results from my first roll!

Really a nice video! I am looking for how the camera performes and a
Lot of people on RUclips just talk around it. I think analysing the camera by almost only focussing on the images they create, tells so
Much more. I at least learned a lot. 😊👍
And your images are also pretty good. Nice to look at.

This is so random but what the little tab you have on the XA where the strap goes? I’ve been trying to figure out how to connect a peak design anker there for my wrist strap

Peak Design used to have a thinner thread adapter they don’t seem to propose anymore. I would try to find some thin but solid loop to atach to the small element on the side of the XA and then attach the PD adapter on it.
