Cary should be an Oscar winner. There. I said it. The guy has amazing range from drama to comedy. He is the poor man's Tom Hanks & no one uses him right in films. I'd say he needs a better agent, but he's done well for himself. It's like a baseball player who only hits 10 homers a year, but each one is a game winner. Dude coulda hit 40 though.
Poor man's Tom Hanks? I don't think you understand the definition of poor man if you think that. If anything, Hanks is the poor man's Cary. Cary's a real actor who's funny while Tom is a comedian trying to act in serious roles.
Love Cary, so excited to see him in Stranger Things! Good interview you hit upon a lot of the things he's known for and showed his wonderful sense of humor. Much love from the U.S.
Cary was also Russ Wheeler in Days of Thunder (1990), Lt. Kent Gregory in Hot Shots! (1991), Lord Arthur Holmwood in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and Fritz Wagner in Shadow of the Vampire (2000) among several other films.
He is a true gentleman, appreciate his line of work. Andre was also a very gentle, kind soul. Andre was in a lot of back and joint pain during the filming due to his physical issues. Andre was known for his flatulence lol. A fantastic film to be seen for sure.
Cary is so naturally fuuny. Princess Bride is my all time favorite fantasy adventure film, right beside Willow. And Saw was the first horror film that totally caught me off guard and one where the whole theater gasp at the same time. Truly a one of a kind film
Just as he always says. I still like the movie as good as dead. My favorite. Thanks for the warmth and entertainment Cary Elwes. Westley yeah good job🎍
Why do people forget he was Rupert Everett's objection of affection in that terrific UK gay-spy flick "Another Country" which also featured a dashingly young Colin Firth?
this is a great interview, going through all his big roles and not sticking onto one movie for too long, choosing specific topics and not just saying “how was that experience?” like america is so much more comfortable to watch
Cary is a tool. I went to a Comicon in Kansas City, Missouri in 2014 or 2015, and the dude stayed in his tent until someone came to the line, and decided to pay the $20 to get an autograph for him. He didn't come out at all until there was someone already paid at the line. It was a heart breaker, and a sad, sad thing to see happen. For those who've never been, most celebrities just sit out there at the desk, or at their podium and wait. His area had "no picture" warnings everywhere, and he stayed in his protected area until someone paid money. It was freakishly saddening. Ruined all love I had for any of his characters over the years. Out of all the good stuff I experienced at that event, this is the singular thing that I take away from it, which I find pretty sad. It's **possible** that he was being controlled by people with suits, and too many pockets, but as a human being you should feel compelled to interact with the people who love what you do, and who have supported you for decades. Regardless of what the suits say.
I've watched a lot of his panels from 2014-2018 and he seems very genuine and very funny. He makes everyone laugh and he's so sweet to children. He'll get up off stage and go hug people, mostly kids but he doesn't mind hugs. One panel from Phoenix I think, he literally hugged people the whole time and at the end he went down the line and hugged almost every single person. I went to see him in Edmonton just last month and yes same thing, to get his autograph you had to go inside his little private booth/cubicle. He did not sit out in front like all the actors do in the long line of tables. All the fans lined up in front of his name. So yeah I wondered that too why he had his own private booth. I'm also surprised he didn't want to sit beside Wallace Shawn his table was beside his. He seemed to get special treatment, there was a guy who took his selfies for him, whereas most celebrities do it for the fans. I don't know if cuz he was the most famous actor there. Also when I was about to get my photo op the girl/staff member asked me if it was ok if I stand on his left side and I said it doesn't matter to me and she replied with "oh it matters to him" shaking her head with wide eyes like she was scared of him or something. They were very strict about photos too, no hugs or anything.
@@rebarox85 Yeah for panels it's one thing. He's basically obliged to be there in front of everyone, so no use in scampering off trying to hide afterwards. I wonder if he's just had.some really bad experiences with fans at booths, but I get the feeling, especially with your comments, that he's just all worn out.
Underrated actor!
Recently saw The Princess Bride in concert with an orchestra. Amazing!! Cary Elwes came out & talked to the audience for 30mins!!

The Crush was pretty good
He does a great Mel Brooks impression
Cool guy. Always thought he was underrated/used after Princess Bride. Good to see he's doing well.
He is a true gentleman, appreciate his line of work. Andre was also a very gentle, kind soul. Andre was in a lot of back and joint pain during the filming due to his physical issues. Andre was known for his flatulence lol. A fantastic film to be seen for sure.
He is so attractive. Very handsome
It's nice that he's happy to talk about a film from so long ago, unlike many celebs who'd rather spruik whatever dreck they're currently promoting.
Just wondering , where is this slang from almost sounds like nadsat .
@@natalie8212 I thought it was german since Dreck means dirt 😂
Loved him in the film Oxford Blues in 1983 + Another Country in 1984-Classic Brit actor
I would of liked to meet him when he was young🤣🤣
He's great now but I know what you mean 😉
“ We all got tinnitus from it” *spits coffee*
He seems like a really nice guy who is passionate of what he does. Such an underrated actor that deserves to be in many more movies.
I'll never get tired of hearing Andre stories. He truley was The Eigth Wonder of The World.

Wait he’s british??!! Lmao
Ya he plays a really good American. Perfect Accent.
He’s British-American
He’s lived here since he was 10, that’s why his accent is so spot on.
Wait... that's not obvious enough?
Someone hasn't seen The Princess Bride, and it shows.
Of course, you can't forget him in The Pentagon Wars.
