I'm really happy to see that he's still got his eyesight, most facial burn victims lose that obligatorily.
I have so much respect to both the donor, and the guy that got burnt. He lost his face to try and save someone, and the other man gave his in return. Truly amazing.

Honestly, before the surgery he wasn't even THAT bad, especially for a burn victim that severe. HE was still able to see, he had a nose, and when he wore his ears, hat and glasses he looked totally fine. But more power to him for going through it. Dude is braver than me. I would not have risked it.

During the time I watched this video, I really wanted to hug him so tight. He looks so friendly and nice and I'm sure he is.
We complain because we don't have material stuff or things like that, but in the end what truly matters is being healthy and loved.
Dean it's easy to say this until we are on the other side. If he felt that he couldn't live the life he wanted to live and be there for his family the way he wanted, then I absolutely believe he made the right choice.

When I was younger I tried to disassemble radio and then put it back together I couldn’t do it at all that’s when I figured out it’s easy to take things a part but it’s really difficult to put them back together. To this day I don’t have real faith in my skills
This man saved a life. The scars a what makes him powerful.
Both people here are heroes in different kinds of ways. This firefighter knowingly put himself in harms way to save someone’s life, and Dave’s mother didn’t hesitate to jump into action to allow her loss of her son to help a man whom she didn’t even KNOW. The compassion and caring shown by both sides here is truly remarkable.

Just a mental fellow if you truly love someone, it will not matter how they change appearance-wise. You should still be able to see that the person you loved is inside this new face or appearance and love them regardless. I know it is less drastic, but I was very much in love (as cliché as it is) with a singer a few years ago, and after becoming very ill he ended up gaining quite a bit of weight, growing out his hair and generally looking more tired and so on. He may have lost his figure and changed a bit facially due to the weight gain and exhaustion from his sickness, but I still find him just as attractive and never stopped thinking about him in the way I did. People change, that is just a fact you must accept in life, but if you really love a person, no matter how drastic the change, you will continue to love them regardless. A physical change is no excuse or explanation for divorce.

Just a mental fellow I appreciate your reply and your viewpoint. I too would not force my loved one to stay with me if I was disfigured badly in an accident, because I can understand that some people do not see things the way I do, and cannot bring themselves to continue loving someone who has changed from what they remember. I still believe, though, that if you really loved the person, it would not matter how their looks change. I think it’s really a matter of how much the person loves the other, and how much they value appearance, but to me, I could never imagine leaving someone I love because of something like a facial disfigurement. You seem an understanding and kind individual yourself, and I wish you a good day :)

If you watch pictures after surgery it is amazing. Thank God for all things going together. I hope the donor guy is smiling from above that he could help and having a peacefully rest. Nice to see things like that. Good doctor and a brave guy with that 50-50 surgery. And don't forget the mom of the donor, she was so helpful to let it start.
