    Love this game and it's fun to watch you play it, but I feel like a big part is the satisfaction of watching these projects happen. Much like power washing simulator. Have you considered giving us a time lapse of you working on the products instead of incremental updates? Great even if you forget to commentate!

    OKAY, HEARING DRAE SAY "OH! a hand drill! that'll be very easy!" made me BURST into laughter XD
    I had a german crank hand drill and the sheer number of parts was DIZZYING!
    I spent at least 8 hours cleaning it of grime before starting on rust removal.

  • @3DPDK
    @3DPDK 2 года назад +1

    Yes you can use an angle grinder on wood. You have to be extremely careful because you can blacken and burn the wood with the heat of friction, but if you pulse the grinder so it doesn't turn too fast and use a light touch it's actually useful for shaping and cleaning hard woods. There are actually wheels made specifically for grinding wood ... called sanding disks.

    @AgentWest 2 года назад +3

    I have a hand drill just like the one in this episode and despite it's age (and being oddly difficult to find) it is very useful. It was meant for square shank bits, so grabbing modern hex or round is tricky, but it works great as basically a ratchet for large wood screws and lag bolts. Much faster than a regular ratchet and does not run out of batteries half way through.
    The reason for so many parts is because of that ratcheting mechanism that lets it be used in tight spaces. Got a very nice bass-y click to it, at least when compared to a typical ratchet since the parts are beefier and the mechanism is out in the open.
    And as a side note, those late 1920's- early 1930's Singer sewing machines are amazing. Heavy AF, but very consistent. Even better with a motor upgrade kit.

      @@dukeofthedance8062 "Impossible to hold steady" you say?
      When i was too young for power tools i was given one of those drills and got pretty good with it. The trick is to not push on it as hard as an electric one. Almost 'stabilize first, turn second'. Slower drilling process, but not bad for softer things like wood.
      In addition since i was pretty bad at swimming i ended up making a boat-style prop from a flat aluminum sheet scrap and used that drill to turn it. Was a pretty neat thing to have for snorkeling, just had to dry out the chuck really well each time so it won't rust.

    • @AgentWest
      @AgentWest 2 года назад +1

      @@dukeofthedance8062 Oh no worries, i got the sarcasm :)
      Do agree though, it took some learning to not be one of those frustrated people.

    • @AgentWest

      @@dukeofthedance8062 Speaking of hand planers, i have a couple that i use for cleaning up edges on plastic sheet pieces, and it works great! Since plastic (at least 1/4" nylon that i deal with) is more uniform and much sleeker than wood it's a good 'knife through butter" feel. Have even used a planer for deburring aluminum a few times and it worked surprisingly well, just have to go shallow with it.
      As far as where i get tools from, got that gear drill from a family member (don't remember who, it's been years), and most others come from antique shops and junkyards. Some do require work, but at least there's something to work on instead of modern 'pot metal' and plastic. For example, i saved a 1.5 US Ton 1970's arbor press from a scrap pile. It was completely rusted (stuck) and took three days of oil soaking to even take apart, however once it did, and after sandblasting and re-painting it became a very smooth powerful machine that i have since used often for things like pressing small bearings in/out. Way better than a hammer!
      And sometimes i'd just find tools on the side of the road. Got some pliers and couple of hammers that way.
