Young people learn how to work on your car, Buy a scanner to check problems yourselves, I'll be 81 years old this year. Hummer is A GOOD REAL TRUCK . THE STUFF HE'S POINTING OUT DOESN'T EVER MATTER ALL $20.00 REPAIRS. Doesn't know what he's talking about.
Yep. Ours is 212k and still clean, no leaks, close to perfect interior. It's just a question of the care given. Would easily still bring 15k...if I'd sell it.
The frame on the hummer is from a 2500 in the front and 1500 in the rear. The middle is completely custom to make the wheelbase shorter and add ground clearance. The interior of the hummer in 08-09 is actually beautiful. It is on par with Mercedes of the era. And the plastic stuff is put together a lot better than the earlier ones. It is like a completely different vehicle. Also I think I was one of the people that said it had a Torsen locker front diff. I was wrong. I heard somewhere that it did, but nope. It doesn’t make sense tho because 2500s of the year I believe had a Torsen front differential and the hummers front diff is from a 2500.
I absolutely love my 2003 H2. I have had it for five years, and purchased it with 45,000 miles on it. You are correct about the creaking and the sound of the plastic moving within the vehicle. Definitely a failure on GM’s behalf. Mine came with the airbag suspension system. So far, even in -40° weather it, performed exceptionally well. I also drive up a road that is approximately a 35% grade (the ruts are approximately 3-4 feet deep. I don’t need to put “Red Sonja” in 4WD to make it up that section, which is a testament to her drive train. I have replaced the gas struts on the rear door, and all of the top light seals because I did research common problems. As far as the other items you mentioned, I haven’t come across those problems, but I will be watching for them. The biggest issue that I can honestly say I have with this vehicle is the windshield wipers. The motor is ridiculously expensive to replace. Mine quit working after using it on high speed for an extended time period. After it cooled down, it was operational again. I’m not sure if it was the actual motor, or if the battery that was in the vehicle when I purchased it was insufficient. I’m going to say it is the latter, as I have not experienced the motor stopping with the correct battery size.
I bought a 2005 sut 220k with a blown engine for 7k but not one dent crash only very light surface rust on the frame put a lq9 the high performance version of the oem engine lq4 and rebuilt trans with performance converter and clutches. 10k into it now and can’t wait to put another 200k on it
I just bought and orange/red ‘03 with 140K. Aside from the shift solenoid going bad, (can’t get it out of park) and the crap driver’s door panel, I love it! Watching the HUMMER videos from this channel prompted me to buy certain parts before I even bought the HUMMER itself. Kryptonite suspension components and a Cognito 3 inch leveling kit with Kryptonite/Moog ball joints pretty much round out the package. I took this thing out on the trails in Southern California where I have been taking my jeep for years. Aside from major scratches all along the entire length of both sides of the HUMMER and damaged running boards, she went everywhere my jeep did. Next investment, rubbing compound and a buffer! LOL! And those runningboards definitely need to go. compared to my jeep, the HUMMER felt like driving a Cadillac over the majority of obstacles and if you don’t abuse the locker and pick your lines properly, it’s just as much fun as a jeep and even more fun on the way home. Very comfortable ride.
Excellent video buddy. I've had an 03 Hummer H2 for 15 years. Very dependable mechanically. Interior is on the cheap side as you said. BUT sitting in the drivers seat it all looks cool, and its functional. One thing I don't like, is the water leak, very frustrating. But other than that, the Hummer to me looks great, and shes been so solid and dependable IM glad I got it, still have it, and sure aint getting rid of it. Thumbs up video~John
I love the hummers. I bought a Hummer h2 same color as yours but it has super low miles, 58k and I redid the entire front and rear suspension with heavy duty components, fixed a rear main seal leak, did a. Efan conversion and a big 3 and HO alternator.
Mine has 170k. It's an 03, I got it with like 120k back in 2016. I didnt drive it much due to the fuel economy. I paid 13k for it and it had a ton of shit done to it which was pretty cool when I got it. The truck however was driven offroad. Plus I purchased it in New York. And because of this its slowly falling apart of rust I'm going to get fixed. Also theres a leak that makes water pour in from the sunroof when it's raining, I believe I just need the rubber gasket. Also the trunk doesn't open anymore and one of the locks dont lock or unlock with the button (issue caused by the electrical work done) also due to the rust the truck at the moment has bad catalytic converters. Also the transmission has to be rebuilt. So, unless your buying a stock hummer. Theres things you should look out for. If it's got a ton of electrical shit that it definitely doesn't need. Expect it to fail if not done professionally and cause other components to fail. But main issue would be that transmission and the leak. Those are what to expect when buying any h2 in general. Otherwise I love the truck. I'm slowly working towards fixing everything wrong with it and removing all the junk I dont need. Engine is very solid as well.
I've never had an H2, but it's in my plans to get it. But you have a 2009 H3 Luxury. One of the best cars I've ever had. These cars never devalue. I only sold it because I needed a truck. Anyway, what is missing in this person's H2 is that he cares more.
I have the same year and around the same miles... mine looks pristine, no rust, no broken clips or back door latch, but does have leaking roof lights. Runs perfect. Just bought a new 2008 model with 36k original miles.. Looking forward to seeing how the 6.2 motor compares with the 6.0 that I'm used to driving. the 2008 also offers flex fuel option.
not sure who had the H2 in your video, but it's obvious they didn't do anything to take care of the interior at all, my interior has no loose panels, no cracked plastic, seats are solid...it's a 2007 H2, 193,00 miles as of now...replaced transmission at 133,00 miles with a Jasper and no issues since, spent the first 7 years in NY and now in Florida for 8...very little rust on floorboards, body is solid and still looks great. Interior is still in great shape (leather)...truck runs great

So it's a normal vehicle after 200,000 miles of abuse and you happen to get a rough one. "buying a clapped out hummer h2" ha, ha The transmission is a 4l65e. It has a 4wd brake locking system that acts like a locker, which is good but not quite as good as a front locker. I happen to love the interior and mine has lasted perfectly, maybe I am lucky?. And AM general actually manufactured the Hummer H1 and H2. GM manufactured the H3. Just some more info as a hummer fan. Keep the videos coming. Hope to join you sometime! But no on the H1, horrible to travel in. But yes cool!.
Looks like to me this Hummer was treated like shit before this dude got it. This is a perfect example of take care of what you have and it will hold up well, even with GMs shitty plastic. My 05 has 229K on it and besides some annoying ass rattles we have not had to put screws anywhere in the interior, our door panels are still intact, and gauge cluster works fine. Only real issue is the leather on our seats is starting to go, gonna get them rewrapped here soon tho. Really unfortunate abt this car, it had great potential but GM did a major shortcut with the interior, it lowkey sucks I agree 100%.
I have the SUV and SUT. Best rule to live by is DONT SLAM DOORS!!! My passengers get offended when I say please shut the door gently . Basically everything will be fine if you don't slam doors hahaha
For a truck that is 16 years old with 170k. Is not that much. I have h2 04 with 118k. I got in 2 accidents and the only thing I got was a little bumper dent. But the 2 other cars weren't so lucky
I drive an ‘06 H2 and my wife drives ‘06 H3. We love them both. Locking front wasn’t a feature until 2008. You can get aftermarket locking front diff for older models. I actually just pressed in lower drivers side ball joint and replaced upper control arm on my H3 today. Doing the passenger side tomorrow. I’ll never drive anything else, aside from my Indian Springfield Custom.
I have an 07 Escalade which shares many common GM Truck/SUV parts with the h2. Now for a question; I still wonder why they did not utilize more or apply more of the great Escalade components, which would have really made up for the h2 shortcomings and made the h2 the top flagship.. starting with the 420 hp 6.2L v8, A transfer case that would shift 70% of horse power to the back wheels when driving on a normal highway giving you better gas mileage, and a 50/50 horse power to front and rear when driving off road. The Escalade ESV is a 8000 pound AWD vehicle but it has much more acceleration than the 6800 Pound h2. I hope someone can give an expert comparison and answer the question that I am proposing..
no idea what this dude is talking about lol, my hummer is 2007 i got in 2010 with 30,000 miles, and now it has 202,000 miles and i have not any of these issues, other than the leaking roof drains. NOTE everyone disconnect your Onstar it's a parasitic drain on your battery.
Hello YT community, Looking at a 2004 H2 in excellent condition with 178k miles for $14,500 Will use about twice a month as second vehicle. How good are these commercial versions of the H1? Is $14,500 price a good deal in 2021 market? Thanks
My 2003 H 2 is still like new with 120,000 on it.. Never off road and its never had any kids in it.. Has the inflation hose, flashlight, Leatherman multi tool and first aid kit ..
It’s not the miles that gets to these vehicles it’s the plastics and shitty build quality of the interior that really start letting it down. Also lack of maintenance and fixing what breaks.
The ABS plastic on these is absolute trash. Totally true about the license plate holders and wing mirrors. The roof lights… omg. I can’t even imagine how much silicone my dealer used to seal the leaks
This hummer sounds like crap AND looks it too. I believe this guy just bought a hummer that was not taken care of. I bought an 04’ and its in FAR better condition, no loud rattles, doors are solid and everything works. This is very bad advice, just buy a hummer in good condition, NOT this one.
Come on think about it. This truck is 18 years old. Still on the road still running give credit where credit is due. You show me another car or SUV 18 years old I will prove that we are standing in the middle of a junkyard.

You need to get your hands on an 08-09. Way better interior. I have an 03 and an 08. I’ll probably do a comparison video soon.
Wrong. Front end is a 2500. Rear end is a 1500. Middle is custom for the H2 by AM General
Came here for this comment! 🇺🇸🫡
For a decent price I'd buy
For a truck that is 16 years old with 170k. Is not that much. I have h2 04 with 118k. I got in 2 accidents and the only thing I got was a little bumper dent. But the 2 other cars weren't so lucky
The front axl is Hummer only and they are locked in 04 and up when in 4x4.
The H2 only came with a rear locker. The front does not have a locker.
I like the plastic insert cuz I can put my phone on top and it will not slip off.
it’s an LQ4 with a 4L60e, super easy to maintain and it’ll run forever
Can you replace the mirrors with something Les fincy
dont these come with the 4l65e?
I drive an ‘06 H2 and my wife drives ‘06 H3. We love them both. Locking front wasn’t a feature until 2008. You can get aftermarket locking front diff for older models.
I actually just pressed in lower drivers side ball joint and replaced upper control arm on my H3 today. Doing the passenger side tomorrow.
I’ll never drive anything else, aside from my Indian Springfield Custom.
What kind of wheels are those? Cool video btw!
There is man who came on hoovies ....he has started a business dealing in used parts etc for hummers
What winch is that? Does it just go in the front hitch receiver?
Why did you remove the spare tire
do i dare ask if its possible to get one even tho i have mid(?) type of salary? about $1142.18 +/- (when bills etc is payed)😅
Which year did they change the interior?
Those wheels are really nice!!
I bought my 2005 in 2013. Still have 80K miles on it H2 Luxury Edition.
What r the rim size and model?
Great review sir
Thank you for this video 🙏🏾
HUMMER KING OFF ROAD BRO
Price
BUY 😎
I believe if some parts would of been put together better and had a selective drive tran people would still like and want to buy
How high is that lift kit and tires?
I have a video on the full install but i believe we did a 1.5" body lift and a 2" torsion key and spring spacer lift.
2003 definitely has a front diff locker.... Not sure of the gen2's
Mine doesn't have one (2003).
My 03 does, (adventure package)
Good video buddy 👍 👏
Thing looks absolutely beat. Can you review one that isn’t trashed next time?
170k miles is considered high mileage? Those are rookie numbers in this bracket. Gotta pump those numbers up.
I agree 😂😂
I don't want air suspension I like coil spring and normal shocks.
FUCKING LOVE THE RIMS!!!
Did you know the name?
@@paulniendorftimmendorf4441 I believe the wheels on this Hummer are called “Arsenal” by the company called Black Rhino.
@@manuelvalladares8088 thanks ✌🏼
@@paulniendorftimmendorf4441 you’re welcome 😎
The 08 hummers had the 6.2. Thats why they cost way more.
Youh ave ZERO clue what you are talking about...
no idea what this dude is talking about lol, my hummer is 2007 i got in 2010 with 30,000 miles, and now it has 202,000 miles and i have not any of these issues, other than the leaking roof drains. NOTE everyone disconnect your Onstar it's a parasitic drain on your battery.
It sounds nice.
4l80 didn’t come till 05 then 6l85e in 07-03 had 4L60e
Modified gm 2500 frame
Like that color
I want one.
Thank you
Fall apart it's a Chevy so there you go. However it's the only product I would buy.
Hello YT community,
Looking at a 2004 H2 in excellent condition with 178k miles for $14,500
Will use about twice a month as second vehicle.
5:40 ...that costs 5 dollars
Buy.
Roughest H2 I’ve seen on RUclips this one was definitely mistreated lol
The ABS plastic on these is absolute trash. Totally true about the license plate holders and wing mirrors. The roof lights… omg. I can’t even imagine how much silicone my dealer used to seal the leaks
This hummer sounds like crap AND looks it too. I believe this guy just bought a hummer that was not taken care of. I bought an 04’ and its in FAR better condition, no loud rattles, doors are solid and everything works. This is very bad advice, just buy a hummer in good condition, NOT this one.
Flex Seal
My toyota 4runner is from 2007 and it looks brand new
My 2005 H2 looks and runs like new. It all depends on who has owned it.
H2>4runner
@@tomasher5444 true
My 02 Isuzu Rodeo still looks new inside and drives great.
Not 1 single hummer h2 came with a 4l80e.
Come on think about it. This truck is 18 years old. Still on the road still running give credit where credit is due. You show me another car or SUV 18 years old I will prove that we are standing in the middle of a junkyard.
He literally found a problem with every little detail.... I think he was just one sided
Hi Do you need some great lighting upgrade for your car to help you better driving, off-road and adventure. We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
That exhaust sounds horrible! Y’all need to open her up with true duels with flowmaster 40s and 3 to 4 inch tips coming out the side or back.
170k is high miles? OK...
ROFL "higher mileage"?! Buy a Toyota, higher mileage is 400,000+
Gross color I would like a yellow, white,or black.
