Mark you are good dude.. Your honesty and genuine approach is refreshing. If i disagree with you it is rare and never personal. The Boo-ing was strange. I get it, another early 3 without paint touch followed by a lack of hustle getting back on D & loosey-goosey with the ball was enough to push some fans over the edge.. But NEVER do you Boo your team at a live game WHILE IT IS STILL GOING ON. Our fans should know better..
Nah they are better but not far better . We woulda blown them out both times if it wasn’t for the mcneely injury and they only beat Georgetown because their big man and best shooter didn’t play
Tarris and Solo were awesome. Alex had like 6 or 7 balls go halfway down, but overall played well. Stewart is consistently solid and Mahaney is finally looking confident. That one Solo squence with the blocked shot and 3 on the other end was absolutely electric and what we really need to see more of. This is crazy to say after they needed to rally to win, but i am actually thinking that this team will be very well positioned once Liam is back.
We have 3 years to win 1 ring for a true dynasty. Lot coming back next year and very possibly a deep run could be made by this team to add to the UConn resume. Gotta try to get over the slow start hump and tighten up some loose ends, this team is fine. It’s not even February yet, this could be a different team in a month, with the motor clicking just right, everyone healthy and just at the right time. UConn has a whole lot of weapons but they just haven’t talked guns yet. All will be well.
This booing thing has been a long time issue with Hartford crowds going back to the mid to late 80s. It used to rub Calhoun so raw that when Gampel was finally built, he threatened to end the games played in Hartford in favor of using Gampel exclusively for home games. I have a feeling that the administration needed to remind Calhoun that UConn relies on state funding and all those state reps and senators love walking over from the state capitol to catch the game rather than hoofing it down to Storrs. Curious to hear what Hurley thinks about the boo birds in Hartford. It's pretty embarrassing.
Liam’s absence was supposed to give Ross and Stewart more opportunities to get more productive. Stewart has made some progress, but still has some hurdles to get more consistent. Ross hasn’t given much to this team. He’s not playing with confidence and when he misses a shot he tends to shy away from taking another. He doesn’t look at the basket and defers to others and gets lost on the court. Hurley needs to play Abraham and give him an opportunity to get some needed minutes with some production. It’ll motivate Ross and let him know that someone is going to take his minutes if his lack of production continues.
I agree with Hurley calling his team soft. He’s been trying everything to get these guys motivated. Since the season started it’s been said that they’ll be better come January. Well it’s almost February and the team is still struggling to get consistent. He’s concerned about his team and so are the fans. Too many highs and lows going on in every game. One player that I feel who needs a chance is Isaiah Abraham. This kid is a freshman but has a better shot than Ross or Stewart, more athleticism than both and we need someone to come in with some fire and toughness to motivate this team. Many of our players are deferring to others to make a play, big shot or tough defense. Karaban is struggling with his overall game, shooting and getting any lift in his game. Abraham should get a shot coming off the bench, Ross is just not giving much production for this team. What does everyone think about this possibility, I’d like to hear from Mark and crew about this matter.
I was there too. We were playing without energy with zero fight and hustle. I've been watching UCONN basketball for most of my life. Yes, there were boos and I don't agree with it, but I'm not sure I remember it as overwhelming and I'm 10 rows from the floor. When I heard it, I just went blank.
And let's also be honest, I seriously doubt that if this game was played in Gampel, that crowd would boo. I was at the Creighton game and there were some serious lapses. Hartford is just a different audience class.
First the boo's are stupid. If you have to boo don't support the team. I see these new Uconn fans are spoiled by the last two years. 2nd Tarris Reed Jr. , Solo Ball, and Alex Karaban should be the only ones with the ball under 10 secs. I've seen atleast 10 plays yesterday where they made careless shots and weak passes that led to nothing but DePaul getting the ball back. Those three are the best decision makers on our team in the last minute for now.
I'll tell you why. It's the end of January, and this very talented team is still sleep walking at the start of games, not being aggressive on defense, and making silly mental mistakes. To be down 14 in the 1st half to a bottom feeder team in the league AT HOME is totally inexcusable. Hurley has a soft spot for these players and seems to be trying to take a nice guy approach with them, so it's up to the fans I guess. The fact that they turned a 14 point deficit into an 11 point win proves that falling that far behind never should've happened in the first place.
I agree 100%, this team needs a kick in the ass. Hurley is trying everything to get them motivated and ready. Enough of this nonsense already and this team needs a leader on the floor. Karaban is a good guy but he’s not that guy to be a vocal or intimidating face. The offense has been sluggish and slow in getting their system going, Newton struggled getting the offense going until they finally got him freed up by setting a high strong stationary screen to free him up. They need to do the same for Mahoney, and Diarra. Once they did this for Newton it changed the whole offensive scheme; for the better.
They are not pros. Coach Hurley and company is. Refs are. Players are not professionals because they are not paid to play. NIL does not come from UConn and cannot by NCAA rule. I get they make money for their likeness, but they are not paid to play so please do not call them pros or semi pros.
Although AK was 1-14 shooting.... he was 6 for 7 @ Free Throws , 8 Assists , 6 Rebounds , 1 Steal & 0 Turnovers. He helped out a lot !

This depaul team is far better than last years depaul team
Nah they are better but not far better . We woulda blown them out both times if it wasn’t for the mcneely injury and they only beat Georgetown because their big man and best shooter didn’t play
@@issac-j3m Marquette with their healthy players struggled to take depaul out granted it was in chicago

Booing college players is silly but this is what is in big time programs unfortunately.

Hassan is a champion too! Go Huskies
I do not agree with the booing, they're clowns, but what is the difference between that and Hurley calling the team soft?

I was there and I was surprised how they were booing. I was looking around like cmon guys- it’s the 1st half

It’s never okay to boo, they are college kids
One thing I noticed with reed, he struggles with that second jump after a board. He can’t go up strong and finish the and 1 usually
Karaban I didn’t even realize was 1-14
Fanta wouldn't shut up about it - every shot..
How about cheering the Huskies on when they're down by 14 instead of Boooing em ? ! No Couth for those Boobirds ! 😔 🤢

@dougf-s6w valid points ! 👍. Maybe if I was there & UConn went down by 20 , I might boo , but it was still mad early in the game !
@dougf-s6w & I think DePaul was without one of their better players too !
